Solid video! You managed to condense a lot into a short amount of time. Your video is the first I've seen that effectively puts across just how big the rig is - especially ahead of and below the feet, there's so much visual bulk. I do like tubular frames, I played with a TrakRacer TR80 which looked pretty nice. That big ol' cantilever for the wheel mounting arms gave me concerns about flex but your video showed it was mostly in the wheel mount itself. Really interesting! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us.

The pedal flex could be designed out of it with an adjustable rod to the floor, it seems? Not sure why the wheelbase isn't just solid on this.

I am using the same pedals and wheel, and I got the TRX for about half year. I do feel the pedals flex is indeed quite annoying(probably because I am using the hardest rubber on the brake), the wheel is fine though

When I bought my sim rig I decided to go with Trakracer because they’re local to me (the office is across the street from my gym), so I said I’d just pick it up. After two weeks (yes really) they said it was ready for pick up, from a warehouse a 2 hour drive away. The kit didn’t come with all the parts and before I bought it they were very responsive, after my purchase they ignored all attempts at contacting them

Thank you for this review, the flex was something that I never saw mentioned about this rig and I never took that into consideration. I do love the ease and speed of it's adjustability from F1 to GT...but the flex some what kills it for me altogether. I want a more than solid base and I think I can't give that up for this one, when I'm spending a ton of money on high end peripherals and for an immersive experience, I don't want to sacrifice on the little things that could add up to a lot in the long run.

Was about to order this rig until i seen this review. The flex on the pedal plate can be seen from a mile away! Have had issues with Trak Racer in the past with warrenties, namely a triple monitor stand that, no matter how it was adjusted the monitors were never aligned. Eventually they ignored my requests (old version monitor brackets) to have the new designed monitor brackets sent out. Will look elsewhere. thanks for the great review :)

I have the rig and the flex is if installed well not noticeable I have 90kg load cell and 8nm wheelbase and I don’t notice the flex while driving at all you can’t even see flex with his 25nm wheelbase as well you can see the flex with the pedals but I don’t notice it while driving and you could probably make a diy thing for that

I'm curious to know, in addition to pedals and wheels, how much they can influence PCs, monitors and SIM rings (and various accessories) it would be interesting to make a comparison between a complete beginners setup and an export pilot one, to see how much difference there really is just in setup

What you lose in rigidity you gain in adjustability Theres always a trade off, just depends on what you’re willing to accept 😆 But the flex is real, although quite okay if using a wheelbase less than 8nm imo

@@TheCarDoc1 the thing is that people in the market for a $1500 rig will most likely have an 8nm or more
@SarahNocchi9 ай бұрын
Hey! I have this rig, with the free standing triple monitors mount, and I am wondering why is yours so far away? Weren't you able to put the feet of the stand further apart? I just made a review on mine, and you can see that my monitors are right behind the wheel base. I also don't get that much flex at all, even with my Fanatec DD1.
@TheCarDoc19 ай бұрын
Nah, I couldn’t move it any closer, the legs were too narrow, and didnt move any wider (and it was 100% built correctly) I think I got an old model monitor stand as theres actually two versions of it.. What about your pedals? Did you get much flex there?
@SarahNocchi9 ай бұрын
@@TheCarDoc1 interesting! I bought mine back in September and was able to adjust how wide it was. For the pedals I do not have much flex no, and I think it is because I placed them at the very edge of the platform. I am pretty short so I wanted to be sure they would be close enough, without having to have the seat all the way up to the steering wheel. It looks like it reduced the possibility for much flex.

Hi so I’m about to get this rig with the same pedals wheel base and wheel so I was wondering what wheel base mount you have for that wheel base
@rz50908 ай бұрын
Just got mine, tho I chose the Black version. The wheel flex isn’t as defined with the universal plate, though I think the wheel mount could use a bit of refinement. I have chosen a bit of a hybrid seating position and pedal position that seems to help with the pedal tray flex. I bet the flex in the pedal tray could be fixed as well with a little refinement. I still like it, though my only previous experience was with a play seat evolution.😂😂
@RacingPotato125 ай бұрын
Lmao you went from flex to flex
@rz50905 ай бұрын
@@RacingPotato12 It’s solid, you don’t notice anything when your driving. So no I didn’t. It’s a great rig and looks better than the Aluminum Profiles, not to mention 10,000 times easier and faster to assemble. Also I went with it for ease of adjustment between Formula and GT seating positions, knock it if you want it’s all down to personal taste and the flex that is there is not as big of a deal as others make out.

@hellomenopee10 ай бұрын
lol it's the bottom pad that's just too flat and hard. I'll soon be walking around with a square butt. I want to find a way to make it softer, but still have that Alpine look. However i am no good at upholstery. I should mention that i put it in GT mode and have not moved it since. I drive mostly GT3 or Road cars. @@TheCarDoc1

It might help those very few real openwheeler, to have F1 seating position, to have practicing rig similar to real thing .. .. BUT! For normal people, that are not forced to use by real formula's aerodynamics unergonomic seating pose GT pose is much better fit. And not as if one cannot simrace in formula, while sitting more upwards. But getting less tired in long drives or being more precise with inputs due less tiredness is helpful. Also, "for normal people" there are usually lot of extras mounted on rig, shifters, handbrakes, buttonboxes, keyboard/mouse mounts, mic mount, vents .. everything that would be very limited in mounting capabilities on tube cockpits. And flex .. tube cockpits can be made as rigid as alu profile ones .. but they will cost as much, and will lack mounting flexibility with various simhardware. Summarizing - i don't see this rig being competitive choice due various serious cons, and it may do only for few less educated on pros/cons of various rig types, who are suckers to fall for advertisement lines "designed by F1 team" ..

I have the same setup but in blue. For the price, this thing feels like trash. At a distance it looks fantastic just don't look at it closely or touch it. The whole thing is covered in paint overspray and even the threads were painted and needed to be chased with a tap. They even left the round stickers (presumably designating the part number) on the tubes and painted over them. The Alpine graphics on the seat were poorly applied with wrinkles everywhere and they were also torn in shipping. Along with numerous scratches on other parts due to poor packaging. Enough about the cosmetics and poor QC. Let's talk about how well it works. This rig feels flimsy. Whether climbing into the rig, steering or pressing the pedals, everything moves when pressure is applied. Trying to get it to work properly with a Logitech G Pro wheel was a challenge. The original universal mount didn't work at all. I had to purchase version 2 and cobble it together. The brackets don't provide the correct range of motion to fit me for a GT position. Either the steering wheel is at the right height and the brackets protrude so low that they hit your knees or flip the brackets over to save your knees but now the top of the wheel is at the height of my nose. There is not a configuration that fits in the middle. I can't tell you how many times I've disassembled and reassembled the rig in different configurations to try to find something that works. I have a hard time believing that the Alpine F1 team had any input into designing this. I'd be truly embarrassed to put my name on it. This is just a prime example of marketing BS. Climb into any home built race prepped street car like a NA Spec Miata, which is a total limp noodle, and it feels like Fort Knox in comparison to this Harbor Freight knock off. Also the ergonomics are spot on where as this rig always feels compromised. Just as a point of reference, a roll cage, seat and brackets for a real car cost about the same as this rig. This product was overhyped and seriously under delivers. Wish I could get my money back.
