pro tip, if you cook noodles in that pot you can use the press part to help strain the noodles. its a lot easier than trying to hold on the lid and not spilling your noodles out.

Thanks for the "Ultimate Series" Dr. Ernie. This is a great way for us to see gear and get a lot of feedback on it. I think this press is pretty nifty, because it can also be used as a cookpot. I personally went for the "pore over" devices as they pretty much are light weight and virtually fit every cup available. Good review.

Toaks 750 for the pot ...similar thing, but the bail on the Toaks is orientated in a way that allows the pot to be used as a drinking mug, in addition to a cooking pot and a coffee press. Jetboil silicone press. Weighs only 36g and the stem breaks down so the whole thing can be stored inside the pot with gas and stove. Also, when the coffee has been pressed, just unscrew the stem leaving the mesh in the bottom and drink straight from the pot. No need for an additional mug. Also the press is sold as a standalone item and is really good value. There is no need for a hole in the lid, but if you really cant use the press without one, just drill a hole in the Toaks lid. Quite a bit lighter, a lot more functional and only slightly more expensive.

Black coffee is an acquired taste. It is worth acquiring for the trail... it's just easier. Don't worry; it won't ruin your taste for cream in your coffee at home. It just adds flexibility. (and thanks for all the great vids)

I love my Aeropress. Perfect coffee every time! It's not as compact as yours for hiking/backpacking though. I motorcycle tour and the size is not an issue. great channel and reviews! I will buy this press for hiking for sure. Thank you for the video!

I bought this exact press a little over a year ago and love it. When our Keurig broke, I wanted to replace it with a French press. I chose this one because I can use it at the house and take it into the outdoors. It has made hundreds of cups of the best coffee I've ever made both indoors and out. I plan on replacing the stainless knob and plunger stem with aluminum, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. When I saw you had made a video on the Bestargo, I had to watch. Now I want a cup of coffee lol

i have had the Bestargot press for about 6 months and use it almost everyday in the shop and a few times on the trail. Its light and sturdy and works well. Easy clean up. Im a fan.

My wife got me this for Christmas and I love it! I use it with the evernew alchohol stove and for some reason with this pot I am unable to get water to boil. Overall I love this french press and it makes great coffee

Coffee on the trail is something I’ve gotten into lately and I’ve used a French Press for decades and enjoy the results. A few weeks back I purchased the Bestargo press based on your review earlier. I might replace the knob (just because I can and want to). One item that I added to my kit is a separate lid for the pot. I will be out enjoying the trails and my coffee this weekend.

When I need to make coffee for more than one, I resort to my Stanley Cook & Brew press. It's heavier, but I am always car camping if I make coffee for more than just me. I need to get an Amicus, too. I love my Windmaster, but I kinda wish the pot support was attached most of the time. Thanks and stay well, Ernie.

I just use a reusable filter and paper filter. I dump the boiling water into the filters and wait for it to strain through. Grab the paper filter and shake out the grounds and burn it. The filters add almost no weight and the cleanup and speed of use can't be beat.

Great kit! The only thing is that I would add a stainless steel machine screw so I can attach the knob if and when I’ll use the pot as just a pot. Also Ernie I have a question...at 3:35 of the video I noticed you wrote 62% in red on the canister. How do you know/measure how much fuel you have remaining? Thanks so much for your reviews. I’ve been a subscriber of yours for quite some time and I can say as far as stoves go....your channel, bar none, is the best!!!

I've had this pot for a while now and I agree, it makes a great small pot of coffee. But after a season and getting annoyed with the cleanup, I gave up and went back to cowboy coffee out of my snowpeak 900. This usually gives me 2 good cups of coffee and I'm ready to go. I think the biggest problem with cowboy coffee is, most people really don't know how to make it and give up before they perfect the process. Side note, consider a small 6oz shelf stable ultra pasteurized whole milk cartons instead of the cream. Less likely to go bad.

I have a SNOWPEAK French press, but it is more narrow like a typical French press. I could boil water in it, but I definitely wouldn’t double as a cook pot. When I go lite, I just use the GSI pour over mesh which makes for easy cleanup to just snap the coffee grounds out of the mesh. The SNOWPEAK coffee press, as any coffee press requires additional water to clean out the coffee grounds. If I’m on a hike where there’s very little water, it doesn’t make sense to bring it. The features I like about the Bestargot, is it’s functional for making coffee, boiling water, cooking and because it has a bale, you can use it with a tripod over a fire.

Nice looking press. The dual use is a plus. Very similar to the WoodKnot Gear press, which also comes in a 750 and 900 ml version in Ti as well. Another option for those that already have the SRO cup is to add any 4” coffee press screen and plunger and kaboom. Coffee press. Be well.

This is the one is get most use from, bought a spare lid of Amazon and swapped the plunger and shaft for a Bodum one I had, saved a bit of weight and for me works neater, atb Chiefy

I love that press! I just but the Firebox stove coffee kit with the titanium nano and the trangia gas stove that fits the nano and firebox. Can't wait to try it! The only other press I have is a Stanley coffee press from walmart.

I would use a Trangia or a cat can stove as I have both and kind of like them. The canister stove would be Ok for me too. I have a similar spoon (mine is branded Toaks). Shortly after your review I got the Bestargot french press. I use it daily for my coffee at home and I am very happy with it. It does it´s job, is not as fragile as the glass presses it replaced and can serve as a container for cooking. My cup is a 650 ml titanium cup. I use powdered creamer or some butter. I think that everyone should do that as they please.

I bought one of those Bestcargot French press cookpots about a month or two ago to add to my gear arsenal. My other method is a pour over filter that fits a standard toaks cook pot.

The method I use is the French press. But i start the coffee as cowboy coffee, brewing no more than 1 1/2 minutes at a low boil than I press. Try this method next time and see how you like it! Thanks for showing 👍

I have been thinking about buying one just for the sake of trying french pressed coffee but I have always stuck with cowboy coffee, it boils the acidity off, and I can boil the grounds right in the cup I'm using then use cold water or an egg shell to settle the grounds

2 questions. Is this your Ultimate French Press kit or ultimate coffee kit? I have tried French press at home but prefer Aeropress or pour overs. Second,..what about the Snow Peak French press (and grinder)? They should be considered for the ultimate. I could never bring myself to buy them.

With all your experience brewing coffee in Almighty God's precious creation, would you still prefer this setup? Dr Ernie thank you for your insightful and well done review videos. I'm a relatively new subscriber and fellow Louisiana native who enjoys a coffee at sunrise in this wonderful creation. I've primarily done a cowboy coffee setup but want to try another option. Stove and French press looks interesting to me and before buying thought I'd check in with you.
