One of the best demonstrations of how Ableton could be modular and fully ready to make serious Ambient music. Congrats.

Thanks so much Freddie, it was SO much fun and going through each iteration (and getting it wrong … a lot!!! Was half the battle, super satisfying stuff!) A member of the Discord mentioned they were going to try the same thing but for rhythm and textures which I think will be an equally satisfying venture!!

I’ve been following your videos for a while now, and I really enjoy your approach to music production and the depth of your content. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to create a 15-minute ambient minimal track that features evolving percussion, dynamic pad structures, and a smooth, cohesive bassline blending seamlessly with the ambient elements, all generated using AI-driven composition techniques. I’d love to see how you approach this concept! Christian

Such a great video with awesome explanation, do you know if your template will work with Ableton Live Lite? I'm just getting into this and the thought of dropping $ on Ableton full if I don't know I'll use it seems a waste. I wish Logic had this functionality.

Super lovely indeed! I'm not sure if you explored VCV but it's heaven for generative and has many more options that Ableton won't let you do. As for your bass thing, I think an option you could do is use the Shaper, but switch it to manual. This will allow you the option to scroll through the shape you made. That can make some super lovely envelopes for the bass.
@WillHatton9 ай бұрын
I haven’t looked at VCV! I’ll check it out thanks, good shout on the bass too. Will revisit!

Great tip on the manual shaper for bass. As advised, scrubbing through the Manual setting via mapping with a unique pattern produced huge results!

Great video! Regarding the bass, couldn't you alternatively use a Max for Live hold device to sustain the note indefinitely? Is there any advantage to using the technique you described instead?

Spooky, I had this conversation with a member of the Patreon just this week! I think that would probably be a better idea as the bass was super tricky, yes! :)

Nice video thx, please how do you setup the global 'Key' signature button in the ableton quick access ?
@creative-ray-music3 ай бұрын
thanks for the review, m8. But I stay on live 10. The downloads are for Live 11 and 12. Ableton keeps on upgrading ofcourse and the prices aren't low. For me it's cheaper to keep on using Valhalla Shimmer/Room and the three free plugins and some many more. But it's possible to create the effects as well with Live 10 only. I also have a Strymon BigSky so i'll be okay. But you've created a nice preset. Love it

I'm going to study this and apply it to Logic Pro X. Unfortunately, while Live is a somewhat popular DAW, there are many others who use Logic Pro as well as other DAWs who will not necessarily know how to adapt your template for their DAW. Worse yet, if you want to use the Intro version of Live, you're out of luck being able to use the packs that you're calling out here... and Live is more than double the price of Logic Pro. Yeah, Live DOES do things that Logic doesn't readily do, but does that justify twice the price? I'm not yet convinced... and the UI approach is so backward from most other DAWs. Oy! In spite of the above, I find the info here to be well worth it. Thanks, Will! Cheers!
@tiny74389 ай бұрын
I'm not a try hard Ableton fan, I use Studio One too and Logic from time to time, but yes, I think it justify the price, and the UI, for me at least is more clean and modern than most of all other DAWs, maybe except Studio One(that can become cluttered sometimes), Live looks easy to your eyes and the layout is more logic than Logic xD. Try the demo and spend some time in Live... try even to go more experimental with it, the DAW itself permit that !

Big problem. Others with FL, Reaper or Cubase have to translate the tutorial too 🤷♂️ yet you don't see them bitching
@mybiggrin5 ай бұрын
Logic doesn’t do this. Unless you want to use Reaktor or Softtube stuff as well. The cost of the 3rd party stuff brings it up to the price of Ableton Suite anyway.
