🔑 AA hotels is a huge hack for AA status btw. Usually shoot for 10k per night or 15k for two night stay, which stacks for the partner bonus levels at 60k lp and 100k lp. Got to play pro and aiming for exec plat next year.
@Inkant7 ай бұрын
I thought this was just the mileage earning…is the LP earning also that high?
@SuperVeganShark7 ай бұрын
Yes there are some people who have gotten over 50+ LP per dollar for those stays, normally in very low cost countries. Laos was a very popular destination, and many people booked phantom stays until it got sorta shut down. AA LP group on FB talks about this in some more detail.
@stefansperb8167 ай бұрын
Yes it still works for mileage and lp, big cities can get expensive though for the higher per night earning ones

I usually only do it for stays that I'm actually gonna go through with, don't want to get flagged for trying to game the system

I usually see about 10 per dollar in the US. 20ish international.

I fly American twice a month. I also am about to build a house. I will be using the aa credit card as much as possible to level up crazy fast.

🗝 Good stuff. I fly out of PHL, so I have been EP for years. These are interesting times for AA, as they have been actively working to alienate their business clients and travel agents. They are trying to fix things now, but they are probably too little, too late.

I have AA Gold from a status match and then a status challenge. It has been ok, better than nothing. I have been upgraded about 1/3 of the time. With upgrades split between MCE and 1st. My biggest point accumulation effort this year might be booking rental cars through Avis. You get a miles and LP boost with linked accounts.
@juannavarro81117 ай бұрын
🔑 I love American Airlines. Been Gold for a few years. Used to be based out of MIA, now TYS. I get most of my non flying LPs from the shopping portal. Best upgrade story is the luck I’ve had in general with upgrades - even with being just Gold I’ve managed to get upgraded to First about 1/3 of the time.

Hyatt and AA currently has partnerships so this also can be a short cut for AA status if you stay at Hyatt properties or complete the limited time challenge

The AA shopping portal and AA hotels are the quickest way to rack up the LP’s.

AA loyalty is based on cc spend. they could care less about flights. plus the advantage program and selling of said points is their only profitable business line.
@jeant05217 ай бұрын
🔑🔑 Being based off Miami myself where it is an AA hub, which card would you recommend is best for someone who’s in the mid-stages of the CC game? I just got the CSP this week and planning on the Venture X in the future, not sure if any of the AA cards are worth it after that. Thank you in advance! 🙏

AA dining has been huge for me lately. I spent buy cheap lunch ($10) at a spot near my work, which gets me to 10 visits easily, so I make 5 pts/$ on larger restaurant purchases

What are the chances of getting upgrades to premium cabin on partner airlines eg CX and JAL with the Oneworld Sapphire status through AA Platinum status?
@SolidLiquidFox7 ай бұрын
The problem with the easier way to get AA status is the same problem with Southwest companion pass: you get to enjoy those benefits on AA and Southwest.
@ryanshannon69637 ай бұрын
🗝 Hi, Sebastian! Long time listener, first time caller. I noticed that benefits tend to extend longer than YoY with foreign airlines that the domestics. If I wanted to focus purely on OW Sapphire (or greater) rather than shoveling annual fee and spend to Citi with AA co-branded cards, are there OW foreign airline co-branded cards to look at (particularly Iberia, JAL, Qatar or other)? I'm disappointed that status with OW and AA doesn't allow access to lounges with domestic flights. I know this carve out isn't exclusive to AA, but United as well, but given the airlines and how my family travels, OW probably makes the most sense to us. Thank you, sir!

AA hotels sometimes have really good deals. You can get 20, sometimes even 30, LP per dollar spent.

Good to know!
@vincentwang92727 ай бұрын
@AskSebbyBusiness That's just an average $7,200 annual spend to get EP!

I’m based out of ORD and I do somewhat pursue AA status. I’ve been gold for the past two years and have gotten some pretty decent upgrades. My wife and I usually get main cabin extra at check in and I’ve been upgraded to first class about three times so far. AA has a 22% market share at ORD, so not too bad.
@ryanshannon69637 ай бұрын
Were those upgrades on Int'l or domestic flights? I'm considering trying to pursue status with CC spend for my business, but the lack of lounge access for domestic flights is annoying. I would almost prefer to try the Qatar CC and simply try to maintain the Sapphire status they basically gift you the first year.

hi sebby!! tyvm, as usual. i live in Dallas, and have a lot of biz spend. got delta platinum medallion with recent status match with my AA EP status. leveraged delta status to BA for their Gold Tier status. have met the requirements for Delta and BA to keep their elevated status til 2026. so i will fly all three over the next 18 months and compare values. examining the programs for status for all 3 airlines, it looks like it could be pretty doable to keep top status with all 3, using biz. but will see if it is worth it, after the 18 month trial. is there a foreign or domestic airline you find worthwhile to keep elevated status with?
@Said_w_the_G4 ай бұрын
Important to point out that biz class lounges are NOT DOMESTIC. Only international ticketed flights and related lounges. Unless you have Exec or admirals club paid membership.

AA loses my business for how shit they treat they my dad who is a 4 million lifetime flyer with them. He can’t get upgraded on flights out of his home airport (DCA) because their upgrade system sucks. He doesn’t even fly them anymore because they keep diluting what million miler even means and gives. To me, when you hit 4 million with an airline they should roll out the red carpet…but no. He ended up flying more southwest because AA doesn’t care about their million milers.

Tell your Dad he's not alone. I have the same AA experience... and I have 5 million plus miles.
@CinemaSteve4 ай бұрын
@@wsmarshjrthat’s mind blowing to me. You should be treated as royalty imo. I told my dad if he had flown all those miles with Delta he’d be Diamond Medallion and getting upgraded guaranteed every flight to first class.
@wsmarshjr4 ай бұрын
@@CinemaSteve I flew out of Boston (everyone's spoke and no one's hub) and Delta didn't align with my travel patterns, except the Shuttle to NYC. But if I'd done all those miles on United, I'd be lifetime Premier Platinum (equal to AA Platinum Pro), which is a lot more than AA lifetime Platinum... which is what your Dad probably is, too. 😪AA just stops granting any lifetime status after 2MM miles. FWIW, I think the former US Air crowd is running the AA show and -- take it from my personal experience -- US Air is just Trailways Bus, but with wings. 😂
@CinemaSteve4 ай бұрын
@@wsmarshjr it was the same with my dad. Delta back when he was flying didn’t do the routes he needed from BWI since it was before DCA was a thing. He’s bummed about it because you’d think loyalty pays off but nope. Hahaha it sounds like it even from my experience of flying AA it’s a mess! I’ve only flown probably ~200k with AA and they’re by far my least favorite of the big 3 now.

🔑 Hey Sebby, what about challenges, I did once before with AA, I need to make some amount of flight miles in short period of time, starting from the bottom I became executive platinum, because we flight 4 times Australia , Hong Kong , Beijing, Shanghai, and many countries in Europe too, in less the 6 months , do you if still available this kind offers? Ay Hi to Mandy please

the reason they let you board after that big sip of water, I believe, has to do less with getting the volume under a certain level and more with making sure that it's not drugs or explosives (because you would die by drinking it). I read about a guy who died by ingesting liquified meth at the southern border in this way...

does anyone know if it is worth it to get the Chase Sapphire if they are offering me 95000 points as a welcome offer?
@tatianabritton62585 ай бұрын
There’s too many factors to give someone a solid yes/no answer. How often do you travel? How much do you spend annually especially on their multipliers? Do you have “loyalty” to a specific hotel or airline brand? If so, are they a travel partner with Chase? There’s videos and websites that will give you a breakdown to help you better understand if a travel card is worth it in addition to understanding the downside of churning if that’s your objective.
