They’ve been stocking some very healthy looking trout in these ponds lately. A normal sized stocker would be about 2lbs. A very good trophy stocker would be about 4 to 5lbs. But those ones are pretty rare. If you catch one of those again, you should definitely try to mount it on the wall. That would honestly be pretty sick!

Yea they have man it’s wild. Trout taxidermy is reallllly tricky but I definitely wanna try and do one !

Great tips! Hello here from SoCal! Just a psa for those that catch and release please be gentle and revive the fish before releasing them as they will often die if just tossed back in like a bass. I also recommend braid such as 5lb braid with 4 lb fluorocarbon leader makes detecting the subtle bites so much easier especially when the trout are being finicky.
@TheFishinMagician2011 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried braid yet but I definitely want to. And I would certainly revive a bigger fish if I was releasing. These babies the fights over in like 30 seconds so most of them are good to go lol

At 15:18 I absolutely hate that bird. I called them ' the black submarine'. Why I hate them ? Because they love to eat Trout or whatever fish they catch. This bird is one of the main reasons I usually don't go Trout fishing. I remembered a few years ago my favorite Trout urban lake was Chaparral Lake in Scottsdale, one year a lot of these birds came out of nowhere and they started eating lots of Trout and I couldn't catch anything. When they go under the water, forget it, they either eat or scare the fish. Ohh man I hate those birds, yes I know they have to eat too : ((
@TheFishinMagician2011 ай бұрын
I'm not a fan of them either, they need to do something to manage them in my opinion.

Wow you are a great trout fisherman, I have been trying at Surprise and Paloma but only caught one fish in 5 outings I am using that yellow 4 pond Mr Crappie line that might be hurting me they say the fish can't see it when its underwater the weather cools this year going to try 4 pond trilene fluorocarbon? Again cool videos

What rod do you recommend for throwing 1/64-1/32 micro jigs and magnets
@TheFishinMagician2010 ай бұрын
i recommend a longer rod 7-7'6 ft. medium light works well and also just light . Like something with a softer tip and a tiny bit of back bone so it can throw those jigs out far

There fish I see them jump like actually beautiful fish maybe 4 pounds but I feel like their pressured a lot there’s also cormorants chasing them and some of these parks are new and some get renovated the waters aren’t as clean but I’m still going out there everyday almost no trout yet

Hello. I just went and fished chaparral lake with no luck. I was using natural and garlic power bait. Are there any spots in these lakes that are hotspots for trout. It is hard to find the fish in these lakes
@TheFishinMagician2011 ай бұрын
Not really, unfortunately as I stated in the video sometimes you just get unlucky and the fish don’t cruise by you. They can be as specific as a foot or 2 in an area

@TheFishinMagician2011 ай бұрын
As I stated in the vid, there really isn’t one pond that better than another. Because the fish move around so much
Do you guys eat these fish? I mean are they okay to eat?
@TheFishinMagician207 ай бұрын
Yes lol that’s exactly why they stock them. Raised in a hatchery they’re perfectly fine to eat. They don’t hang around in these ponds long enough to soak up anything harmful

minnows are amazing also, don't think they're as necessary for the urban ponds tho
@barbarabarber3167Ай бұрын
Urban trout stocking in Phoenix is somewhat cruel and stocking 5 lb trout is absurd. Best fishing for trout is on the rim or white mountains from mid September to mid November. There actuallly are some wild trout in AZ
@TheFishinMagician20Ай бұрын
Yeah it's a little odd but the trout are super fun to catch and the kids love it. id say 95% of the trout stocked get caught and eaten and the rest go to the ecosystem. Fun way to drive 15-20 minutes and catch fish rather than 2-4 hrs to chase trout
