Good point to note for beginners: When you see these patterns over a longer term chart (4 hour, daily, weekly) take time to look into why they are occurring. If its a stock, could be an upcoming earnings release, annual statements, major shareholder meeting, mergers etc. Or any other currency, commodity situation. These will give you a better grasp on why the patterns are forming and when the breakouts are most likely to happen and better odds on the direction.

I'm VERY new to forex. In your lesson you say go long in an uptrend and short on a down trend. I think I am confused, I thought buy low sell high. Please what am I missing. Or do we go long before the price gets to high and short before the price gets to low? Thank you.

Yes buy low, sell high. Buy low of its price, sell if it's high price already. Sometimes, it's just luck of forecasting. I'm on my one month of trading
