I found out after doing my first soil test this spring that my soil ph was very acidic at 5.7. I am working on putting lime down this season to work on bumping that up. Thanks for the information!

I’m trying to adjust my PH to come down to range as well. Glad to hear you used the purple bag of JG and it brought it down. I’m on the same mission this season. Thanks for the tip!

Been working on fixing my lawn for 7 years. I can kinda get it nice for a bit but I have really struggled. Did a soil test tonight.... kinda makes sense now... 4.8 for the most part. One area I can get better, it was 5-5.2ish. Time for lime... lol

Good video - am I able to apply PH correcting products in the summer heat? What would you recommend? I have high ph over 7

I would not recommend applying elemental sulfur in the summer heat. It's meant to be applied in spring and fall to avoid issues. Thanks for watching!

I am trying to find out if iron sulfate (Ironite) might be a quick band-aid fix for a high pH. This method may take several seasons.

That is a great question. Upon doing some research, I think this resource from Purdue University is very helpful in explaining this and providing more information. The article discusses horticultural crops, but when we are talking about soil, this should carry over to any kind of soil - including lawns. www.extension.purdue.edu/extmedia/ho/ho-241-w.pdf

What setting did you have your spreader on and what kind of spreader do you use? Thanns
@TheLawnLover

I use a Spyker Ergo Pro 50. I typically weigh out my product based on pounds per square feet with a bucket and scale and I have gotten dialed in on the spreader to know that setting 4 on mine typically works best to spread that evenly on my lawn. This of course will vary depending on your spreader, but if you are unsure you can always set it on a lighter setting to ensure you cover the entire lawn and just keep repeating it to spread it evenly. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I bought powder elemental sulfur by mistake instead of granular . How best to apply the powder to my lawn. ?
@TheLawnLover

I would probably try to use a drop spreader that is closer to the ground to get the power applied better. You could probably do it with a broadcast spreader it will just be messy and I would make sure it's not windy. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Thanks for the videos. My soil is alkaline with a Ph of 7.13. How is the elemental sulfur working for you? I was wanting to use the JG purple bag, but my calcium is double the highest limit according to a soil test.

If my soil is 7.5 ish that's alkaline? Soil is lacking phosphorus and iron What kinda mix of fertilizer should I get?
@TheLawnLover
@TheLawnLover 24 күн бұрын
I try to shoot for between 6.5 and 7.0 on the soil ph. I have been working on lowering my soil ph with 90% elemental sulfur - this is a granular product that I apply in the spring to help lower my alkaline soil ph. I would look for fertilizers that contain a good mix of phosphorus in them, many also include iron too. It is easy to find iron products, look for chelated iron liquids like Lawn Striper from Turf Titan, or I also use lean green from The Andersons with includes iron in it too. Good luck!
