My adult son (he is 41) & I (I am 68) recently went on a Mom/Son trip & we were booked @ All Star Sports & 2 weeks before leaving got upgraded to a Cars Themed Family Suite @ AoA!!! Wow...what a game changer - 2 full bathrooms, separate bedroom (which my son insisted I take), separate living room area - AND access to the skyliner!! We had a fantastic time!! He goes to Disney World every year & I had not been in 25 years. He made sure his Mom had a good time!!

AoA was awesome for us. Family of 4, kids 8 and 6 for our first WDW trip. Why? Because the theming got us in the bubble immediately. And the sky liner to help minimize the transportation stress. And we staying in the standard room because we were more interested in parks than pools and we still felt we had enough space.

AoA definitely evokes the most Disney-esque feelings with its theming and artwork everywhere. Such a fun resort if you have little ones. They will love it!

I'm almost to the point where I'd consider the Art of Animation Resort to be creeping in to Moderate territory. The family rooms are in the Moderate price range, and for single rooms I'd recommend Pop Century; the Little Mermaid section at AoA is farthest from the buses and the skyliner. Do really like the new rooms: small, but nice use of space. For two people it's just fine. A family of 4-5 can get a little cramped.

Loved my stay at ALL STAR music, but our room was so far from the restaurant and front desk that after a long day with painful feet, it was horrible walking there lol but otherwise, i enjoyed the room. Comfy beds, food was good, they even made gluten free pizza for my mom on request. The staff was super friendly! I found the buses weren't that bad honestly. I never waited more than 20mins for one. The hardest is when you have 5+ strollers in front of you and electric chairs... they fill out the bus quickly and you end up waiting for another bus.

Buildings 5 - 6 (Country Music) are the farthest in these resorts. While ASP and AMO are somewhat clustered, AMU is mostly linear, so you walk the whole length of all the buildings.

I remember when All Start Resort opened and you could stay there for under $100. If you could get a deal it was even less.

All Star Music is king of the busses because you can return on any of the All Star busses and Music is smack dab in the middle of the three. We always just take whichever bus is there already.

Ok i like the value it just depends on what you want from your vacation. i always make sure that i have dinner outside of the resort.the food courts are very basic and not the best of food.

we stayed at movies numerous times & always enjoyed it, despite the thin walls sometimes. well themed & the rooms serve its purpose. food & transportation were good. only complaint is they’re popular with school groups & the resort will get noisy.

Value resorts are OK if you plan to spend almost no time in the room. They are quite small, not well insulated from neighbor noise and the bathroom does not have a real door. Otherwise, the resorts are fun and well themed. Most pools are pretty good.

We live AoA and Pop. We can more than afford other resorts. But we have mastered the art of resort hopping, plus would just rather spend our money in other ways.

Agree. I’ve done resort only trips at Pop and AoA and just resort hopped along the Skyliner. Never even set foot in a park. Was so much fun and I’d rather spend my money having fun than paying for a room I plan on being out of all day!!

In August our stay at Pop Century was a little rough. Food court under construction and NO tie dye cheesecake! They sent me over to AofA saying it was available and sadly it was not. I know it’s just cheesecake but it’s a tradition from our many years staying at Pop Century.

I love the value resorts as I do a lot of solo trips, so the rooms are perfect for me. I like The All Stars for when I plan to go to the parks and will do AOA or Pop when I want to do a little resort hopping or plan on hitting mostly Epcot/HS and not MK and AK. I’ve stayed at all of them multiple times. I particularly like AS Music. It’s right in the middle of the three AS resorts and it makes walking between the other two, as well as using the bus much easier. If you want a quick walk to the food court and buses get preferred in Calypso, but if you want super quiet get the back of Broadway or Country. It’s a further walk but the landscaping is really nice and it’s much quieter than the front of the resort.

I prefer Sports over Pop now that the all stars don't share busses. I have never had to share an all star bus in the past 7 years. The skyliner is fun, and great for hopping BUT it's a pain in the morning and park close and that you have to transfer at CBR is another pain. God forbid they shut it down it takes FOREVER for them to start running busses to Pop/AoA

The Value Resorts are Motels. All that means is that each room main doors opens to the outside instead of an inside hallway.

At a Hotel you have all of the things like dining accessed through halls & comfort. At a Motel you'll have to brave the elements at times to get to dining & The lobby.

Motels also don’t have large themed pools, gift shops with essentials and aren’t well-known for their customer service. There’s a lot more you can count on here! 😄

Thing is a lot of the Moderate Resorts are also like this with no indoor access to the rooms. So you could say the same thing of about half the Disney Moderate Resorts

Regarding transportation: Could you take the bus to the transportation Depot, then hop on the monorail and go into the parks that way as well? Leaving for Disney in about a mouth and trying to slowly create various plans for getting around.

No. The busses go to the front of the park. You can go to MK to Epcot using the monorail but all the busses get close to the front of each park

No quickest way to parks are direct by bus. If you want to visit the Contemporary, Grand Floridian or Polynesian Resorts then you can take the bus to MK and catch the monorail to one of those resorts.

Thank you both for responding. This is my first time going as the “adult” in the situation and that adds this imaginary level of stress. We are doing chef Mickey on a no park day so that too was why I was thinking of hoping to the transportation depot and using the monorail to go. As for the other days, we have base tickets and not hopper tickets so I was trying to think of the most efficient and least stressful routes with 2 strollers haha. Looks like we are going to be doing a lot of buss riding :)

@@kaiteann24 The monorail will take you to the Contemporary (where Chef Mickey’s is) If you are staying in a Disney hotel take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and when you get there follow the crowd to the gates. To the left of the gates you will see the ramps for the monorail. The resort monorail will take you right inside the Contemporary, it’s the first stop. There are also boat launches that go to the contemporary at the MK gate as well. Don’t be stressed there are always lots of cast members outside of the Magic Kingdoms gates to point you in the right direction. The bus drivers are often nice and informative as well if you’re ever unsure. I hope you and your family have lots of fun!

You can and you can book a preferred room to be closer to the lobby. They do charge more but not much more.

You can skip check in and get a room number but for a allergy free room, I'd double check it at the front desk before going to the room

I had an awful time with small wonders travel agency! She tried offering the base pay with no savings as though she'd done some research. I had done research, so I knew those prices she threw my way. Last year I had the very furthest room in the back of country. I had one of the few views of the woods and it was super quiet. I loved it! The walk isn’t really that bad, but I can see it feeling that way when you’re super tired.

The wait (and line) for busses is way too long. We usually end up giving up after 30 minutes and getting a Lyft instead. Stayed at Universal's value hotel recently, and never waited more than 2 minutes for a bus, with no long lines. Disney needs to add more busses/ hire more bus drivers.

Music is go to. Why waste money on fancier hotels when the reason for going to Disney World is the Parks. Not going for spas and fancy eats.
