Not sure what you mean about Jamaica, all the tracks are on one level. you either walk above or below to access other tracks. Also, there is Ocean Pkwy, running from Robert Moses Causeway to Jones Beach connecting the Wantagh and Meadowbrook.

There are four counties on Long Island - Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Kings (aka, Brooklyn). Yes, Queens and Kings are now considered part of New York City, but they are geographically on Long Island.

Hi Robert! They are not considered part of Long Island because of their jurisdiction and legislation. This causes the price point and taxes to be highly variable as well. Therefore they are not considered part of Long Island residential suburbs.

Geographically, they are considered part of the Long Island, regardless of their governing body or tax base. Nobody who lives on long island that travels to queens or Brooklyn refers to them as going to the city. Most use the term city, only when going to Manhattan.

As someone who was born and raised in New York City and been to Long Island my entire life. Even though I don't live in New York State anymore, this is the most informative video about Long Island I've seen. I now know that taxes on Long Island vary by community.

just watching this video overall you're def more geared towards the suffolk county area which i currently reside in. I dont think its overall quality of life is better than nassau county in my opinion living in both my entire life nassau i hate it but it is significantly more diverse, better opportunity. And in certain areas better on the taxes compared to the areas you're gearing towards. I personally like the hicksville bethpage levittown area its more suburb than suffolk it feels like ur in upstate when u travel certain areas is docile less opportunities higher on tax when your towards the water and overall food quality is trash

Sunrise highway and Montauk highway are not the same road. They are two separate east and west roadways.

One thing that was failed to be mentioned for public transit access was the local bus networks that help connect the LIRR stations to the towns and villages that are not served by the LIRR directly, and also connecting towns and villages with each other for those that do not want/cannot use a car. NICE Bus in Nassau County, SCT in Suffolk County, City of Long Beach Bus in Long Beach, and HART Bus in the Town of Huntington (mainly north of NY 25). MTA bus also serves and connects with Nassau buses in the west end of the county/east Queens, and NICE and HART/SCT connect with each other, allowing for easy connectivity between the two systems. Fares are also really cheap as well. Buses travel on main local roads like Routes 24, 25/25A, 27/27A, 106, 107, 109, 110, 111, 112, 114, as well as many many others. Many middle island towns like Mineola, Hicksville, Brentwood, Central Islip, Hempstead, Lake Grove (Smith Haven), Garden City (Roosevelt Field) have bus hubs with connectivity to other routes and/or LIRR train access. Most LIRR stations have bus access. Only E Rockaway, Oceanside, Centre Av, Nassau Blvd, Oyster Bay, Plandome, Locust Valley, Bethpage, Westwood, Cold Spr Hbr, Pinelawn, St James, Speonk, and Westhampton do not have buses within a 10 min walk of the station. Every other LIRR Station not mentioned has bus service from one of the four agencies that are in Nassau/Suffolk Counties, whether it's On-Demand/mini or Fixed route bus service. TLDR, Long Island has buses that connect towns with other towns and LIRR stations for those that don't have car access.

that’s 1,000% an option. We’ve just found that people have preferred to minimize all the stops and save time in the AM

Where you live depends on where you work and what your preferred hobbies are, also if you plan to attend local colleges. Not everyone works in ‘the city’, so all the part about the highways may not be pertinent. I grew up on Long Island and it was a great place to live. Suffolk county, north shore is incredible, especially if you like to fish and boat. The downside is, if you like mountain retreats, or like to vacation OFF the Island, it’s a dog! If you work in the city but like to go to upstate or other weekend retreats, live in New Jersey! Airports? Ugh, both Kennedy and Laquardia are traffic nightmares. The Long Island airport is a small airport easy to get to when living in Suffolk but there are limited flights. North shore has some cliffs and lovely sandy town beaches. South shore is flat but you are closer to the ocean. I lived and worked in Suffolk and never had much traffic going to work.. my husband took the Northport LI Railroad to manhattan every day and it was doable for him taking a little over an hour door to door. The cost of commuting is high. Taxes are high. Home prices are high. I miss the beaches but I live 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge mountains now…. A good trade off! It’s so much easier to travel for vacation from here.

thanks for the comment! I completely agree with airport traffic. a lot of our clients from this channel that reach out are looking for city access 3+days a week so we figured we’ed cover it. I really like our beaches better than NJ. Even if you go to Sea side. do you commute to NYC?

@@LongIslandHouses yes beaches are DEFINITELY better than Jersey. I grew up on LI but moved to Virginia in ‘86, so never worked in the city. I taught elementary school for 2 years in Suffolk county schools. Virginia is my home now! I liked the fact that many towns were like small town living… Northport, East Northport, Huntington…

It is, Brentwood crime rate is 19.25 while farmingdale has a crime rate of 19.72. Brentwood is just as safe as any other town in long Island. And to be honest, there isn't a dangerous town on long island. Even new York City has a crime rate lower than the national average. It's just the news and racist social media that makes the perception that it's dangerous. But most long Islanders are not in touch with reality and live in their own world.
