What a nice video. I recently make my first tiny contribution to nixpkgs and how to say it’s was great to have the feeling to add a piece into the great pyramid. It’s was a vimPlugins so the steps where different and more automated but it’s nice to see how structured and clean nix is. Everyone is welcome and that feels neat ^^

Okay, but how do I test my changes? I know I could submit a PR but that is really inefficient and annoying for everyone else, how can I compile a package I just changed from Nixpkgs and attempt to run it? I want to make a change to the package Yazi, as it is, the Nixpkgs version doesn't have a .desktop file but the official flake does making it much easier to set it as default file viewer edit: nvm I think I figured it out, and seems desktop file has since been added

4:58 hey, that's not a real commit. niri was never in nixpkgs at 0.1.0 it should say 0.1.1 -> 0.1.2
