You can check your body's Magnesium levels. At the cellular level, every individual has a different transference potential. Usually Sodium and Potassium are the ions which are essential for the transmission of impulses across the neurons. For long-term potentiation where the systemic memory has to be coverted to procedural memory which is long-term memory then many other ions are required the most important being Magnesium. So deficiency of that can have poor signals therefore poor retention to LTM. Apart from that lack of sleep, dehydration and vit D deficiency also contribute to poor memory retention. Usually during the REM cycle 2 and 3 are when these activity of moving short term memory to long term memory has to happen. If these are all intact then the techniques which this lady mentioned will work. Otherwise, multisensory integration also will also not help.
