Note to all. Surface rotation snapping only works for static mesh and not actors/blueprint classes.

After using Unreal and trying to place objects in a house remodeling project that I'm working on, I can now understand why some games have objects floating in mid air or intersecting with each other. It is such a pain to place objects accurately in the editor when compared to Sketchup. Even in this video you can see how finicky the vertex snapping is. Sometimes when I try to use the vertex snapping, the object would snap to a vextex that I cannot even see from my perspective. I am assuming big developers would make customs tools for placing objects in their worlds or the level designers have insane levels of patience.

Thanks! Little tip about surface snapping I like: if press the End key (Fn + Right Arrow on Mac), the Actor snaps to the nearest surface.

Hi can you tell me how to deploy Pivot via blueprints?

Note: I was struggling trying to move the pivot point of a sphere to the base vertex so I could set it on a plane. I was able to move the pivot point but it would just go back to the center of the sphere every time I tried to move the sphere. BUT I was able to get the sphere to snap to the plane properly without moving the pivot point by just holding the Z value arrow on the move gizmo and pressing the "END" button. you must HOLD the arrow while you press the "END" button to get it to work though, you can't just highlight the object and press "END". FYI for all the noobs out there like me.

snapping is not that great in UE 😏I am missing axis constraint like in Maya or Max when the pivot of an object is outside the viewport

how about giving snap function to an item that doesnt have Snap function originally. like a Smelter in Satisfactory for instance. this snapping function and snapping tutorial was useless ... you showed items that are already snapping. i thought i will learn something but meh.
