The ships in the designer have these funny little icons, like a gun turret, a shield and so on. The template will take the specified class only, refusing the others. That's likely why your ships get kicked back into reserves.

Fleet in being has better finishers. 10% more capital ship & AA attack and decisive battle spirit gives an extra 10% hit chance. Combine with decisive battle head of navy, ironclad leader in the fleet and maybe capital ship advisor and your capital ships become god tier doom stacks.

Hello) I'm the same math guy who wrote in one of the previous videos. I wanted to clarify how things are going with the applicability of my formulas based on your experience? Already done tests? Do you have any questions? I’ll note right away that if you tried to use them to create divisions, you could see 2 things: some ultra-small divisions seem to be very cost-effective according to the formulas, if you do not take into account the defense and breakthrough stats (in fact, they are terrible) and it's very important to consider how many divisions can fit on the front line. You don't want to end up in a situation where only one division is attacking the enemy across the river. You always need 2 to allow for rotation. But maybe there are some other questions? I recently changed my computer and not all the tables with calculations were saved, but I can repeat them if necessary. I remember that I was confident in my calculations and my tests showed that they were correct. It seems like I had 9 infantry and 2 or 3 tanks in a division. I remember exactly that the width was not too much more than 20. By the way, the tanks were as follows: 1938 medium chassis, Riveted Armor, Diesel Engine, Bogie Suspension, Medium Three Man Turret, Close Support Gun or Medium Howitzer, Easy Maintenance. This is all. For them to be effective, it is necessary to achieve a shield. Therefore, it is worth installing the armor accordingly. If there is no shield, then artillery divisions will be better for defensive purposes (you just need to replace each tank with artillery). Bro u talk about how navy works in your mind in reality its way simpler. In the video there are so many mistakes and recommendations which are purly wrong. Visb*speed = makes the hitprofile of the ships. All ships move same speed on the map. What do u mean if u have slow ships ucant catch the enemy?? It lowers the chance but very insignificantly. I have 10k+ hours in hoi4 and in my entire time i never saw a half of the ship designs u recommend. Why u should u even use gun1 when u can use gun2. Heavy attack has a worse hit chance then light attack but a better crit chance. In vannila light atk is way better as long as u dont have the late game rader and fire controll which adding hit chance. Easiest way to land somewhere is by just sinking the enemy ships so talking about a ship which is not good for combat but gives a lot of naval supremacy is retarded. SHBBS are just trash bb3 has more speed and more stats/per ic. In vannila anti sub ships are a delousion they dont work. If u put ur fleet out your ships die. U kill subs with air. Minelaying is the one of the brocken thing it can reduce the naval supremcy to -100% for ur enemy u cant tell me there is no use for this. Automatic split of is bad dont use it. We use ur example: if a carrier is retreating out of battle it cant get hit. If the carrier spits of after the battle is a lon ship which is immediately getting sniped by air bc its a lone ship. A fleet has a lot if anti air a single ship dosnt If u go sub raiding u go middle doc If u go big carrier fleet with like 20carrier ish then obv right doc Or as Ac Else left doc for aa atk and captialship atk U can have more than 4 carriers without a penalty. Spirt of command 1chance of atk 2nd use ur brain if u have enough fuel go whatever u want have inf navxpp 3night fighting -visb is king U didnt understand ship retreat chance.

So I've been playing with mine layers a lot more lately and have found that have 5 cheap mine laying destroyers can really be a difference maker for a smaller country with the ability to have a decent Navy, such as Turkiye, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Brazil.

I like the "inclement weather experience" for my spirit of the navy because one time while playing as Germany, my fleet with the super heavy Bismarck built caught the UK navy in a heavy storm. They couldn't get their planes up and my navy shredded them. Just the thought of a massive storm going on and the Bismarck fighting is awesome so now I always go with that. Should a storm come, they'll kick ass.

A tip for smaller nations navy. Use converted hulls for a “light carrier”. With the space efficient policy for an MIO, they can hold 50 aircraft. Costing less than a heavy cruiser upgraded, they make for an excellent way to utilize old cruisers from AI or starting ships. Just be sure to add the refit speed in the middle slot of your military tab (where you go to doctrines from). A maximum of 4 carriers in any fleet or incur penalties. So if you’re in central/South America, or Greece going for Byzantine restoration, you’ll eventually annex other nations and their ships. Also before you refit to your light carrier, train the cruisers, the experience carries over. I end up having 8-12 reserve light carriers ready to replace any lost. A great way to compete with larger nations on the seas.

Interesting, though there are some glaring issues. 1. Visibility stat is another busted stat for navy (along with speed), which is why Night Fighting is THE option for 50xp thing. 2. For 20xp, getting the defense trait is better for any nations with sufficient capital ships since admiral's defense stat increases armor, except it's only 20% (not 50% for generals/FMs) so you gotta grind an admiral before the big war to actually benefit from the xp investment. 3. Doctrines. Base Strike is only useful if you ignore navy and use NAVs. TI used to be THE doctrine back when it had visibility reduction, but now it's a "tossup" between that and FiB for surface fleet. FiB is stronger but costs more xp, whereas TI requires less xp. Unless you have enough fuel (cough cough USA) the xp issue WILL come up.

If I have one thing to say is that Base Strike doctrine is actualy noy meant to be played as you said, since it is giving naval bonus for planes, it is very usefull if you want to NOT build a navy and just spam naval bomber, and also, the best ship is a naval bomber, in addition it is giving pretty fair bonuses for submarines so in my case I either go for fleet in being if you want to just pack my big navy to kill everything, or base strike to absolutly kill everything that pass near my coast and also spam sub everywhere, and I never used trade interdiction since I started the game

It's worth pointing out that the UK gets a low key but hilariously busted Spirit of Air Force Command which effectively gives you a 50% damage boost to your carriers as it allows your carrier planes to take off at night. It was broken for a long ass time but was fixed about a year ago now and it's busted. Normally carriers do not launch at night, so even though this spirit means that only half of your carrier aircraft are launched at night, that's still more than 0, meaning that you get an extra 8-12 hours of carrier damage on your enemies depending on location and season. The only issue with it is that you have to micro it HARD.

As you have said, speed is important. You can never engage a fleet if they move faster than you, unless you have another fleet to intercept them and stall them. Personally, i avoid bringing BB in my carrier task force or generally any slow speed ships lower than the CV. Slow fleet means more time to get intercepted and airstriked.

Great guide and channel! I believe night fighting to be the best spirit as visibility is used to calculate hit chances and the less visibility you have the less you will get hit. Positioning is very important, but if you use LCs as screens you wont have the larger fleet penalty when fighting other main fleets and if you do get it, your fleet will most likely be so much better that you will still win. Is what i believe

My favorite ship: Light Cruiser with level II guns (in all available slots except for the following), one level II catapult, one cheap depth charge. Also, best available engines, targeting computer, radar, and armor. These are speedy light attack oriented ships with lots of detection. AA slot with best AA also helps and best secondaries also helps. Put these into groups of ~5 and send them far out into the open ocean on patrol to raid enemy destroyers and light cruisers sent to hunt your subs. You can add one heavy cruiser to this group for extra power (heavy cruiser focused on heavy attack, speed, and detection). The heavy cruiser would just have level II guns. Combine these light cruisers with a navy that has the best subs available with snorkels and torpedoes and land based naval bombers. Also, combine with trade interdiction doctrine. Also, you can use long range patrol planes to aid in detection. These light cruisers are "jacks of all trades.' They can defeat anything except for enemy doomstacks and naval bombers. However, they can outrun enemy doomstacks and they can operate either where friendly fighters are present or enemy bombers aren't present. I have killed >50 ships with EACH of these light cruisers. Definitely focus on speed and proper placement. It takes some micro to manage this correctly. Some strategy makes the game more fun for me. Late game version can have level IV dual purpose main guns and dual-purpose secondaries for more light attack and AA attack. The reason for the depth charge is so the group does not run away every time it sees a single enemy sub and also to provide more tactical flexibility (and it is cheap). I can use these groups to escort convoys in gaps my destroyers can't reach. For destroyers, I only ever make cheap anti sub ships that have level I depth charges, level I guns, and the best available radar and sonar. I play minors that usually do not start with navies, so battleships, battlecruisers, and carriers are just too expensive and take too long. I do need something to help free my subs from enemy escorts and that's my cruisers and naval bombers. Mine warfare is also important in my opinion for minors to stop naval invasions and hamper enemy fleets on the cheap. The problem with minelaying is that it takes too much research time. If I start with minelaying tech then I will make minelaying cheap subs if possible and minelaying cheap destroyers if the minelaying sub tech is not available. I often convert old subs to minelayers. I rarely spend the research time to research minelaying. If I have enough industry to make quality battleships and carriers, then I've already won the game. The AI (even after the recently dropped DLC) offers no challenge at that point.

61 depth charges stat is too many depth charges. Maybe except for some of the new subs, almost no sub has that much HP anyway, so everything will be a 1 hit KO. More reasonable numbers are 20 for sub 2s, 30 for sub 3s or 35 for sub 4s. Also, if you have quite some destroyers per escort force, it's very doable to get multiple shots in anyway within the reveal time frame of a sub, so you can get away with a lot less depth charges. You'll be hard pressed to find the AI using anything more advanced than sub 2s btw, so for SP, anything more than 20 depth charges is too many depth charges

I use these ships as an interception force after upgrading the engines and targeting as N. America against the world games. Stick in 60 new destroyers and not much will kill it (if you like to fly solo they're good but if you're trying to draw out a navy in mp it also fits that use as a more *sacrificial* navy. Also Super heavies may take a while but if you start the game researching them and know how to build them you can still pump them out pretty easily. They are especially annoying to deal with in mp games and damn near unstoppable in singleplayer

IMHO, base strike is the way to go because carriers are your best naval asset. For your strike force you build 6 carriers. You learn how the overstacking rule works and position your carriers and air groups to maximise the number of attack craft air groups that launch. You take as much bonuses as you can to sortie efficiency. You learn the overcrowding rules and maximise the number of craft launching in each air group. You take all the bonuses you find to naval targeting and make the best possible planes. Currently, maxed out AP bombing planes do the most damage because of the targeting bonuses, and this is exaggerated if you get aces on every squadron and use the aces +50% effectiveness spirit. But these AP CAS are expensive. Unless you are Japan... Naval bombers work fine as a cheaper option if you rush the naval torpedo upgrades. Use armored light attack light cruisers mixed with fast visibility stacked roach destroyers as screens along with fast visibility stacked torpedo attack heavy cruisers for cheap heavy screening. Try to get at least your 4 main carriers as carrier 3 with the Mio+10 planes bonus.

8:51 5 carriers is more worth it, as yes you do get an over stacking penalty, it doesn’t get crippling until you have 6 carriers. Just make sure to only use NAVs on them. Unless this was changed recently, in which case please correct me.

In your production tab next to the "Build ships" tab is the naval repair queue. The symbol is an anchor with a wrench. Clicking on it opens the repair queue, at the top of which is a field in which you can set the max amount of naval dockyards used for repairing. Note that the size of the port also plays a role in how many repair dockyards it can support, bigger port -> more repair dockyads.

The nations who need a navy, usually already have a navy. By the time you need a navy, its usually late game. Late game maxed put subs on no retreat can sink entire navys. I sank 13 US carriers with just 12 subs while playing as Chile. Quality subs are all you need.

For the scout fleet, do you even need more then 1 scout cruiser per fleet? I’m pretty sure spotting is based on comparing the stats between the two fleets, so adding more ships with the exact same stats and design would not do anything, and since speed and visibility are large factors in both spotting and being spotted, keeping as small a fleet as possible makes it harder to spot iirc. It also helps you cover a ton of areas at the same time for very cheap.

I did like 1 LC (maxed radar & catapult available) 2 DD (maxed radar and/or sonar) per group in a fleet of about 4 LC 8 DD. Make them patrol without engaging and set the heavies on strike force. It does wonder when my japanese fleet with only 2 CV, 2 old BB, 16 LC, 32 DD strike force sunk 4 British CVs and 2 BBs in a single battle. I literally don't know how it worked though. I just thought Japan had Long Lance Torpedo focus and I rushed it then refit my old DDs in strike force to have 2 Torps and my LC refit to have maxed light attack as cheap as possible.

Not even close. The AI uses DDs with every module on them, Carriers that don't have slots filled and outdated Hulls. For screens it's okay (they die anyway), but Capitals are something you could even worry about refitting, since they are that bad

It depends on what your goal is. For minors I usually focus on Holding Infantry > Fighters > Pushing divisions/CAS > Navy - again though, it depends on your goal. The thing is, you can always just steal navies, use NAV Bombers or even wait 10 years once you have conquered the continent to build a proper navy. But you can't conquer the continent without land forces.

Yes, the hull is the most expensive part, so if you want to play with an early navy, you would refit your ships to the designs in the video (with earlier guns, obviously). E.g. BBs can be refitted to proper BBs, DDs to Torp/Escort/Roaches, etc.

Because it's very expensive (you need a lot of screens, so armor cost stacks very quickly) and it lowers speed. The higher the speed, the less chance a ship will be hit in the first place and the higher the chance it will score a hit on a retreating ship. Besides, armor only protects against secondary and light batteries, as other cruisers will have no issues penetrating it so it's just a waste of IC.

Navy is really funny and u can scrap the economy of countries easy. But u can easily stack soft attack on ur light ships and melt through the enemy screens. Especially for Germany, Italy and if u are funny enough even the chinese.

"I usually don't build battlecruisers, if I do want heavy ships I usually just use heavy cruisers". Why then does your Strike Force template use 9 battlecruisers? If you're going to do guides at least keep the information consistent

The template is what you "should" use. I also mentioned that the exact composition does not matter too much, just the ratio of Capital/Screens. Depending on which nation I play (and in what mood I am), I can't afford to diversify my navy, so I do CH/CL spam for the cheaper tech.

I explained all of that - Spotting Fleets to spot enemy Navies. Death Stack on Strike Force to hunt enemy navies. Gain advantage == build the cheap BB, or destroy the navy with one of the tips. And if the AI doesn't put their boats out, you can also bomb their ports.

im going to argue and say there are 4 ways to play navy the 1st is when you dont want to research into navy that much and just spam sub 3's on allways engage and decimate the ai navy, the 2th is one i found on my own on cuba which is 5 battleships(no screens and take surface raiders spirit) with the armour you get from the super heavy battleship research along with cheap subs with minelaying, this should be enough to kill the british navy and the mines will slowly kill the subs and slow the enemy ships allowing the battleships (on convoy raiding) to engage their screens and 1enemy strike force (if theres a 2th strike force incoming retreat) ,the 3rd way is just rushing the italians or french and stealing their navy, the 4th is for when you decide to go 35 dockyards on germany and just decide to build the most imaculate navy you can (downside is the ai will never want to engage in a battle since you are projecting soo much supremacy and you wont get a dopamine rush from going into a giant battle between 2 large navies)

The game has not, I made it in this patch with all DLCs enabled. The Superheavy is researched by clicking on the top right of the 1936 Heavy Ship Hull, there's a small button to research SHB.

@@-_Athen_- To make a useful one you honestly just have to make sure to stay above 25 knots. Get all your bonuses that you can (MIO + Chief of Navy), and then go in the designer and check that you reach that number. If you do, add more guns, once all the guns are on it and you're above the knot requirement, you start upgrading the guns until you get too low.
