I love my Agilite KZero, and I completely agree with your thermal transmittance issues. Unfortunately Ice Plates do not work well in Agilite PC's, you got to hang them on the inside of the carrier. Its the only downside I have to Agilites products though. This is an excellent empirical way of looking at the PC. Comfort is pretty subjective though. Between the CRYE JPC and the KZero, I find the KZero, and even more so the K19, better for long term wear.

I really like your empirical approach. As for the list of comfort maybe you could add something like weight vs felt weight per weight unit such as kilograms

Okay let’s be honest here a lot of your guys arguments are good and you guys normally go pre in depth about weight when soaked with water and how much it can effect a person in the field but it’s also a bunch of BS no shit these paper thin ultra light plate carriers u see on the market are going to have no water weight it’s because it’s in the name low profile light plate carrier the whole thing about the k19 was that you could load a lot on it because of how comfortable it was and it was also pre good at weight distribution because of it’s thick padding that’s how the world works same with the k zero they market it as a low profile carrier compared to the k19 but still having that bulked up padding so you can load it up Agilite are also the only ones who want to innovate now days not like all the other companies who create problems and try to fix them smh

I dont understand the whole thermal transmittance thing if something rapidly changes temperatures by a large degree wouldnt that be a bad thing if its hot the carrier gets hot and makes you even more hot?? My body is already hot even on 40-50 degree days why would i want something that would rise in temp as my body does or on the other side lower?
@adezii1397
@adezii1397 Жыл бұрын
I understand maybe wanting it so it cools for the exo plates or whatever but that would make that it a pretty biased test along with berry compliance I understand its not made in the USA yada yada i dont really care as long as the qc is good and i get the quality i expect which in pretty sure agilite delivers on
@QorePerformanceUSA
@QorePerformanceUSA Жыл бұрын
No, it doesn’t work that way because of the armor itself. Thermal Transmittance is most important for the body-facing side of the plate bags. Like with any technical outerwear, you want the layers close to your body to stay as dry as possible in all climates, but that only happens with optimized Thermal Transmittance. This article from our INSIGHTS blog has additional details on the physics behind plate carrier thermoregulation: www.qoreperformance.com/en-gb/blogs/cbrne_hazmat/the-methods-of-heat-transfer-the-science-of-ppe-cooling-heating We hope this helps, but please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Cooling, and thermoregulation are mission critical physiological functions for the human body and especially for athletic performance, regardless of what you put on it. Our Best Plate Carriers of 2024 and 2023 videos have more details on this topic as does our INSIGHTS blog: www.qoreperformance.com/blogs/cbrne_hazmat/the-methods-of-heat-transfer-the-science-of-ppe-cooling-heating www.qoreperformance.com/blogs/military-insights/plate-carrier-reviews?_pos=1&_sid=29802a27e&_ss=r

@@QorePerformanceUSA : Most of the civilians who are buying plate carriers are Gravy Seals not athletes or law enforcement or soldiers running missions etc...I think thermal transmittance is probably less of a concern for the Gravy Seal crowd vs. comfort.

Whats the benefit of the thermal transmitance test when in the real world you'll be wearing plates, mags and in many times direct sunlight all of which will mean that more heat transmitance means little to nothing since the plate is a great insulator.

WEIGHTS ARE WAAY OFF Crye JPC2.0 says 22.95 oz Crye's website states 36 oz. Even with the benefit of the doubt of 20% measurement error thats still only 29oz. Still almost 7oz over what you measured You should then have a 25% error (weighting it too light) and Crye have a 20% error (weighing it too heavy) to meet in the middle. As otherwise you weighed the JPC 2.0 as a full 55% lighter. LV119 qore states 23oz. It weights around 27-28. The Kzero is stated (and weighted by reviewers at around 27-28 fully assembled with male and female clips) yet is stated to weight 30.65oz with only female ones. Either you have a very inconsistent scale or are malicious. The lightest vests are the ones that come in parts (cant buy the whole package) and thus may be weighed with the lightest cummerbund. The Qore performace iceplate exo is stated to weight 16oz flat, yet some sources say 19. At the end of the day there seems to be a lot of finagling the weights in order to get the ranking they desire and show more of a difference. To be honest, between 19 and 27 oz its barely the weight of a cummerbund or basic padding. Any kind of heavy load on thin straps will really dig in and some padding will be necessary at which point the 8-10oz difference makes no sense. Id rather keep the pounds off by using a water bladder instead of a heavy water plate than save the 8 oz and get extra padding later on

We have all of the configurations and corresponding weights listed out in our INSIGHTS blog article: www.qoreperformance.com/blogs/military-insights/the-best-plate-carriers-of-2024?_pos=1&_psq=best-plate-carriers&_ss=e&_v=1.0 However, we’d be happy to host a KZbin Live where we weigh the carriers during the segment if you would like us to?

@@QorePerformanceUSA the mere fact that you are 50% off between the same JPC set up between reviewers, the seller and even knock off clones (all of which are +- 1-2 oz) already speaks louder than any live you could do, unless the live includes going to a random shop, getting a random jpc off the rack and without cuts buying a scale at walmart. And the fact that similar differences (although not as drastic) are throughout the list including the Kzero for which you use a 11% heavier weight than in any review, shop, or even a knockoff really loses credibility to me, specially when your own product is 3oz lighter than some reviews found out. (15% difference) For any kind of scientific testing a scale should not have more than a couple percentage points of error over its whole operating range. As its manual testing i can forgive if all measurements are one or 2 oz out. But why are the measurements all towards lighter for the top products specially your own, but then products get heavier as the list goes on? I honestly feel conflicted because i like you guys, i do find interesting to see how much water soaks and relative standings against other PCs but the scientific tests themselves and conclusions seem odd considering these points. Many cite you guys for why not to buy the K0, but whats really the difference if its a couple oz and when your weights seem off anyways? May as well as go with each company's weight as a 'best case' and expect 2-3 extra oz

There are a few key elements here to consider: 1. Manufacturing variability 2. Exact product configurations 3. Methods used by other sources (some are more accurate than others) We’d recommend watching each of the PC-specific videos we’ve done to see the specific configurations in that video. The HSP Thorax is a great example: we only tested the Chicken Strap variant, but the results will be totally different if you use one of their other cummerbund offerings. This also applies to our own ICEPLATE EXO® as the weights are different if you compare our Gen 1 with Aspetto Clips to our Gen 2 with either Side Strap or MOLLE Cummerbund (we actually used the MOLLE Cummerbund for the 16 ounce weight to make sure we used the heaviest version of ICEPLATE EXO® Gen 2). We also address the discrepancy between our findings and the OEM website data. The procurement sources and B2B relationships are also disclosed. If you change your mind about the Live, let us know. We’d be happy to do it.

ICEPLATE® and ICEVENTS® have been in combat since 2017 and 2018, respectively, with both US and NATO conventional and SOF units. ICEPLATE EXO® has been in combat since shortly after launch also. Photos of all can be see on both our IG feed and throughout our website. That said, this video is merely a technical breakdown of the subject plate carrier. As noted in the video, we do not share opinions or anything qualitative or subjective.

If you read the testing methodology and the format disclosure in the videos, you’ll see we don’t actually “put” anything anywhere. Those tables and rankings are merely the result of empirical testing. They are not the result of anyone’s opinion for this specific reason. Facts are facts.
