I remember buying one of Chris's algebra books and I contacted him to say I'd found a mistake - I hadn't - his answers were correct and it was my mistake. Chris then offered to send me another one of his algebra books as well for free - such a nice gesture that I will never forget, thank you Chris :) and Maths Sorcerer for bringing this book to light :)

I am in the very fortunate position of being able to develop my own courses at the high school level and teach them how I please. Thus, I have taught 3/4 of the content that you have gone over with my grade 11 and grade 12 classes. Calculus is by far the best teaching subject and a real joy to teach.

Faraday’s law is a physical law expressed in mathematical form. It is an essential application of vector calculus. It is one of the equations of electrodynamics discovered by James Clerk Maxwell. Faraday’s law (and Gauss’s law) are, arguably, the principal motivation behind the development of vector calculus. For this reason, the crescendo of most vector calculus courses is Gauss’s theorem and Stokes’ theorem.

The cover itself is cool. Looks contemporary, yet fancy. The blue color sort of smooths the mood. Spotted the vector identities div A and Curl A from EM on the spot, the former related to the concept of gauge and the later representing magnetic induction. I'm getting this one, thx Wizard!

Good workbook. In this regard, you might also want to review _Vector Calculus_ by Colley (it's calculus 3 and 4) which is a comprehensive text with excellent explanations, illustrations and a solution manual. Calc 3/4 is usually studied too fast and that's wrong. Colley shows the beauty and depth of this subject properly. I'm even surprised somebody would write a book like that! It's not easy at all; it's easier to cover this advanced topic shortly so that students can just rote-learn and do things by templates. However, Colley explains stuff exhaustively, illustrates it, and shows all ins and outs. Kudos! *What's more, I think **_Vector Calculus_** by Colley is the best book for serious studying* of this subject and for getting explanations on it. It has a superb solution manual with illustrations which is 400+ pages long and does a very thorough job. After her book standard calculus books would look like hs books but her text is not difficult because she obviously wants students to get the real understanding of it, not to prevent them from understanding by doing only routine template problems. Her text makes bridges to physics and linear algebra and contains text problems too. Graphical illustrations are superb there.
Thx for this book, I was doing the basic calculus one with derivatives and integrals. This one is a nice followup!

Fellow Mathematician here. I'm suddenly feeling like I should try writing my own math books where I include worked solutions to ALL problems. Seems like they would sell like hotcakes just because of the solutions. Lol. Personally, I kinda like when solutions are in a separate book, because then the main book is less clunky. When everything including solutions fits in a book totaling less than 500 pages, then it fits comfortably.

@TheMathSorcerer2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I don't have any workbooks on real analysis. Try to do as many proofs as you can from as many books as possible. It's tough!! If you don't make it you can just try again later and the 2nd time around you will be way stronger. I have videos of course, kzbin.info/aero/PLO1y6V1SXjjN8V9No4QewQKtCeHhu3QJf but I don't have everything there. Real analysis is the hardest undergrad math class for math majors. Once you get through it you can do anything. Good luck!!!

Vector calculus IS the essentials for COMPUTER graphics and Differential Geometry. People do nont understand why mathematics was invented and why we need it. WE MUST explain why we need curls, gradient, path integrals, Gauss Theorem, Green Theorem, Stokes Theorem and differential forms. These things doesn't come out of the blue. Vector calculus deals with FIELD functions. There are OPERATIONS over these fields. Vector algebra works the same way.
