A bucket of money and a naturally aspirated 20v 4age revving to 11k rpms

My dream build is to build a 16v 5age (7age destroker) pte 6062 turbo 9200 rpm redline and over 550hp inside my good old Carina E
@Garage4age5 ай бұрын
Blacktop 20v best factory power. but its not really the head itself that makes it better. bigger cams, vvt, higher compression, better intake, better headers etc.. Do the same thing to a 16v, will be around same power. I'm with mat on the 7a thing. not much point unless you do the head work. In saying that, if the same work was done to the head on a 1600cc bottom end, isn't going to be a lot in it power wise, so always spend the money on the head. Really have to have a heavily modified head to take advantage of the stroker bottom ends. Imo 1600cc every time, retain the high rev engine characteristics of the 4age. Head, intake and exhaust are key. a well setup 1600 will smash a poorly setup 1800+ everywhere not just in the top end.

Honestly, all I have is the silvertop/16v rods with blacktop pistons. Ported blacktop head (to the best of my ability), new ported oil pump with the hks spring, acl bearings, 2mm oil restrictor in the block and 4L of oil in the stock oil pan. Also drilled out the stock threads in the block and installed helicoils to ensure I got the right torque on the head bolts. Runs fine so far with no issue. Great oil pressure also. 20psi at idle when hot but doesn’t pass 80psi when at 6-7rpms. All of this is running through the stock auto box. Pulls nicely on both hills and flats.

what have you heard about that new OS Giken crank that uses bigger rod journal bearings with long rods on a 7age block and it stays 1.6 liter. sounds amazing
@seamusop5 ай бұрын
So glad the rod ratio is getting more attention in these engines. Garage 4age has done a few videos on this subject. I would be building a very similar motor to what Mat is describing, except maybe a little less power with more focus on streetability. I already run 4agte on e85 in my aw11 but I would love to run to 9k or 10k safely and really wind out the boost on a turbo. A destroked 7a turbo revving to 9k all day everyday sounds pretty fun.

I have an AE86 and a stockish big port 4AGE that needs a rebuild, and a 13B (ex-IPRA race bridge port) that needs a rebuild. I priced up cnc headwork, atlantic valves, new cams etc.. from MRP and I can rebuild the 13B with brand new rotor housings for less than the cost of modifying my existing head. I am undecided but I am leaning towards rotary at the moment.

I wants a high-rpm 20valve sooo bad. Seeing Akira Iida's custom 320/312 cams on a silvertop is just insane. Drysumped and makes over 200hp. I don't know much about the reliability, but he's been running 9,000-10,000 rpm for nearly 25 years now.
@SidewaysGts5 ай бұрын
So on the topic of a dry sump putting the crank case in negative pressure and making more power because of it, if i can plug in another amazing channel- Garage 4ag actually did a really good test on that, on a 4age no less "Negative crankcase pressure - Dyno tested - Gold 4age" TLDR on it: Made no difference, but still a fun watch.

why 13:1? I think by that point you are already in the realm of full time e85 so why not just go all the way to 14:1?

Hmm... The Ultimate 4AGE. Tap Billet Engineering in Australia on the shoulder to do a tall deck (7a) block and run 84mm bores. 20V head - limited by the valve seat throat. Remove and put in bigger inlet seats and valves. +1mm valve on the exhaust. Reshape ports accordingly. The rest is installing stronger components to withstand and support +10,000rpm. The biggest bonus is that the block is now lighter and stronger than stock.

I have the rebuilt 4AGZE and have done all the easy cheap things to try and make more power up top. The dream is a big head (everything to support revs) and a large turbo ontop of the overdriven SC, instant response and fat powers!

CDI is so 2005. Inductive IGN1A coils can make just as much power at a fraction of the cost.
@mtperformanceengines35085 ай бұрын
Correct but at some point in power level you can't ignite the fuel off because of the richness needed to make the power, running massive boost on e85 and methanol at some point you will need cdi, hpa covers a podcast outlining this witch is just confirmation to what we as builders and tuners have known for some time now

I love the way the torque feels now with the compound setup, want more... 🤪 Current engine is tired and pressurises the cooling system, but still goes hard enough to win class at most events.
