Beautiful. I’m not too much into Christmas decor like inpast years. My husband of 54 years passed away this year and my heart is not dealing well. But always enjoy your videos. Not sure why I shared. Haven’t shared with other decorators.

Very lovely old fashioned decorating. Loved the background music too. I’m so sick of the same two or three tunes most Christmas decorating videos are playing. Love the beautiful china from grandma and the wonderful handwritten recipe from her. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Everything was just beautiful and carrying on the tradition with your Grandmother’s china. So special. I must say my favorite thing was the garland over the kitchen sink window with the fairy lights and the cranberry and orange slices with the blue Currier & Ives plates in the background. It was stunning. Looking forward to Part II.

Love the cozy feel of your home. My favorite is the over the stove styling. That painting and the brass potted little tree and greenery are like a still life. Just beautiful. I have that old copper little pitcher behind your first pomander... I use it with those long matches on my fireplace mantle ... with a sprig of the junipers during the holidays The rest of the year is stays up there because the visual is so nostalgic looking to me.

I'm so sorry for the late comment but the past couple of weeks have been crazy here at our house so I'm just now able to watch this. 😂 Oh my goodness Carin. I cannot tell you how many memories you brought back with this video! I will be 39 here in a couple of weeks. My mom had me late in life and her mom had her late in life. All of that to say, my grandma was born in 1912, the year the Titanic sank. THIS is what her home always looked like at Christmas time. I loved everything you created. It was the perfect blend of nostalgia and coziness! If I had to pick a favorite item, it would definitely be your table. The added touch of the frosted apples was perfect! Especially the shot you had at 17:32, oh my! The memories of being at Grandma's house just hit me and I teared up a little. Thanks for bringing back so many good memories of my childhood. Oh and I loved seeing Ophelia! She is so adorable! Sorry for the late (and long) comment! Have a wonderful Christmas season!

Random male viewer here looking for Christmas decor ideas. Beautiful video! I like your decor style....very Colonial Williamsburg-isk. I decorated in that motif for about 20 years. For the last 5 years, I've decorated in a late 50's / early 60's style after finding my parent's vintage hand-blown glass ornaments. I suppose I'm reliving my Christmas childhood. lol The portrait of your grandmother is very attractive. Respectively...you favor her. Just a little unsolicited advice from someone who has seen 69 Christmases...use your grandmother's china....not just for a 'special' dinner but for most family dinners during the holiday season. Every day is a holiday...every meal is a feast!
@ourhomeonlawrence15 күн бұрын
Hello “Random Male Viewer” and welcome!! Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a sweet, thoughtful comment. It’s funny how the older we get, the more we find ourselves inspired by the Christmases of our youth. The nostalgia is just magical!!! I have been told my entire life that I favor my grandma. I take that as the highest compliment! You are absolutely right about using the china! Last year I really tried to make a point to use it all season long. Grandma only pulled it out for Christmas Ever dinner and when she was entertaining at the holidays…but I definitely used it more in an “everyday” fashion. On the bright side…Lenox still manufactures this pattern so if God forbid something breaks, I can easily replace it. So glad you watched and took the time to leave such a thoughtful comment! Hope you stick around for this year’s Christmas decorating! 🎄❤️

I love the simplicity of the old fashioned decor! I remember stringing popcorn and cranberries for the tree as a child! You might want to think about using your Grandma's Christmas china everyday. Someone suggested that to me several years ago. Since then, I get out my Spode Christmas dishes on Thanksgiving night after all the regular dishes for the day are clean. I put the Christmas ones in my regular cabinet so I will have to use them everyday! It seems like such a shame to have such lovely and festive dishes only to use for special occasions! I look forward to seeing your upcoming videos!

I love that!!! I spent a long time thinking the Christmas china was too “precious” to use it all holiday long and risk breaking pieces. Now I realize it’s too “precious” NOT to use it all season long! I’m so blessed to have such a large collection of it! Besides, it is such a classic Lenox pattern that they still produce it and sell at places like Dillards. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave such a sweet, thoughtful comment!! 🎄🎄

Thank you so so much my friend!! I can’t tell you what that means to me. 😭 These last two weeks of various road trips with the family have been fun, but it also left me a bit overwhelmed with tasks when we got home and I was so excited to put out the complete video. When it didn’t work out as I had planned, I think I just hit a breaking point. I’m so beyond grateful for the kindness and love that has been shown to me these last two years. The friendships I have made are priceless! My only regret is that I didn’t start my channel sooner! Using those naturals elements like the cranberries, pine cones and dried oranges are a must for me in Christmas decorating! I love finding new ways to incorporate them too. I’m probably still a couple weeks away from decorating this year…but I promise the wheels are already spinning!! 😂 Thank you so much for being such a wonderful friend, Tammy! ❤️

You even make the simpliest things, some of my favorites. We have two acres of pine, cedar and juniper trees, so as much as I love the artificial, my husband will cut as much as I want. And when they start to fade, he cuts more. They do smell wonderful as well. I purchased two Lenox Christmas bowls at the antique mall this past year. The pattern is just so sweet. I wish I had your dishes (and memories). I've also cut pine sprigs and put them in mason jars filled with water, cranberries and floating candles. They look so pretty. You may have done thst before. I'm wondering how long the cranberries on the garland will last? I've never made those before. Just dried oranges. This was a wonderful, peaceful video to get me thinking about Christmas. I have a violin handed down. I put it in a vintage picnic basket with a tartan plaid blanket, rolled French sheet music tied with ribbon and brown paper wrapped boxes, and greenery I also run brown paper down the center of my table with a runner on top. I have small grandchildren and the paper catches their "oops!" food spills-and yes-grandpa's as well. 😮😅. Can't wait to try the garland on the rod. ❤

Ohhhh I love the mason jar idea! I’ve never tried it, but I might just need to this year! What a blessing to have those pine, juniper and cedar trees. In our last house we had two acres full of them! We have just a couple of pine trees where we are now…but I would love to have junipers for sure! I’m so grateful to have my grandma’s Christmas china! I love that it is a pattern that they still sell too. I was in Dillards last Christmas and remember seeing it. Thank you so much for leaving such a sweet and thoughtful comment!! ❤️

The trees on top of your hutch need better fluffing. And you may want to consider grouping the wicker trees together instead of placing them on either side of the center tree.

Very sweet. Where did you get little bags of whole clove and cinnamon
@ourhomeonlawrence15 күн бұрын
I apologize for the late reply! The bag of cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon ornaments were purchased at a home decor boutique store in Canton, TX many years ago. Sadly, the store is no longer open. I tried to search for something similar that I could link to, but I was unsuccessful. I’m so sorry!

Where did you get your kitchen island? Love it!
@ourhomeonlawrence25 күн бұрын
Thank you! It was a console table that we bought at a local, rustic furniture store when we lived in North TX several years ago. I added casters to it last year so that I could roll it around. Thank you so much for watching!

Hello, did you have to do anything to the cranberries ( to preserve them) so they stay gorgeous throughout the season?
@glendashine946826 күн бұрын
Such a beautiful, old fashioned traditional Christmas! I love the natural garlands that you’ve made. I know the popcorn and oranges have been cooked but what about the cranberries? Will they go bad and need to be replaced through the holiday time?
@ourhomeonlawrence25 күн бұрын
I strung the cranberries straight out of the bag, and they stayed fresh looking until New Years! It was my first time stringing them, so I don’t know if there is a better way to prepare them…but from my experience it didn’t seem to be necessary anyway. I will definitely do it again this year! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch!! 🎄❤️

Did you paint the portrait of your grandmother?
@ourhomeonlawrence25 күн бұрын
I didn’t….but my grandpa did!! ❤️
@ronmarlett170415 күн бұрын
@@ourhomeonlawrence That sounds like a very interesting story. Did your grandfather meet your grandmother at art school, or was he inspired by her beauty, so much so, that he bought a canvas and paints and began creating her likeness in an attempt to give her immortality?
@ourhomeonlawrence15 күн бұрын
@ronmarlett1704 actually they met while both were serving overseas in the Army during WWII. He painted the portrait, I believe, not long after they got married. He was such a talented artist and an even better grandpa! I definitely get my love of art from him. ❤️

You can just take wire cutters and clip off the ends of the stems, or at least the circular loop part, that looks so unnatural. If you dont want to lose the stem, you can fold it completely back upon itself folding it tightly with pliers.

There is nothing better than a homemade Christmas. I think they are just wonderful. They’re not a cookie cutter Christmas like so many other people have. They’re very creative so different and you nailed it.. i’m sure your grandma is smiling every time you use something of hers. Everything turned out gorgeous. I just made another big batch of homemade cocoa myself.. I will have to go watch it a second time to make sure I didn’t miss something. Have a great weekend.
