This is honestly one of the best stories in the entire series. I love the whole light vs dark theme. Too often in RPGs, the world is in chaos "just because". Besides the story, the game play is also amazing. Being able to switch classes during the whole trial and error process of an RPG to adjust to the fight was a really cool feature. All around, this is my favorite final fantasy game. I came into the series at FF7 too, so that is saying a lot. I've since beaten all of them up to 13-3 (EDIT I've beaten 15 as well). This game just stands out to me. Thanks for the awesome video! Also, best final boss theme ever. :P

My first experiences of FF were from watching a friend play VIII and X-2, but the remake of III on DS was the first FF I actually played. I can't overstate how much I played it. Great game and a great true introduction to the series.

The DS ver of this game I am sure never ever mentions that the crystal that was shattered was not the Earth Crystal, that line was removed I think as we found the Earth Crystal near the final area with no questions ask. All there was a line "The Earth Crystal..." that was it, why didn't the DS ver tell us that IT'S A BIG PLOTHOLE NOW!!!!!! Also that elder wasn't their step father, they had different families and the first 2 characters shares a step mother.

cody2819 Yes it does but you need to speak to Doga outside of cutscene when he is escorting you in his palace. But I will admit. That is pretty important for the plot but never gets mentionned otherwise.

It was my first RPG ever. So the nostalgic feels are huge. I know its not the best game in the world though. It made me discover FF4, 6,7,8,9, Bravely Default and ESPECIALLY the masterpiece that is Xenoblade Chronicles. The best game in the Universe and other universes as well and all infinity and everything!

necroplastful If FF8 had a PSP ver as well might give it a try...but as FF games are normally PS only games I never played none on a console. As of now only played FF7 for PSP, FF1 and 23 on GBA, FF4 on DS and atm FF6 for GBA. Oh and of course FF3 for DS.

There was potential there, but that potential was never met, eh? At least she gets SOME characterization in Dissidia, but not sure if that counts, since it's revealed that the Dissidia characters are all just high tier mannikens whom gained self awareness from memories embued into them...

I completely disagree. She's the personification of darkness (evil) which is over powering the light. The culmination of everything that has been done by the light warriors throughout the game comes to a head when they are confronted by darkness itself (the cloud of darkness). By beating it back into the portal, the warriors of light force the darkness back out of their world and re-balance the powers of light and dark saving the world from being overtaken by darkness. I'm not entirely sure how much more badness and meaningful of a boss could have existed for the game's story.

Oddly though, as explained in the events of the story though, when the overflooding of light happened 1000 years prior, the Warriors of Dark (the ones who help you in the end) had to stop the same thing from happening (CoD is apparently still named CoD despite the flooding of light).

Technically speaking, the original FF2,3,&5 were skipped in North America, which caused FF6 in Japan to be released in North America as FF3.
