Red Wing is supposed to be one of the best shoes/boots on the market. After seeing you rebuild and upgrade these boots I'm not so sure. Nice job. Just curious isn’t there a way to keep the full depth of cork midsole without having to grind it down. For example put a small leather rim of same depth at the edge and then put a layer of leather over that then stitch it all down. Then you’d get the full cork that will mold beautifully to your foot.

why does your 5 in one click that way. mine does not. also for the small knob on the end of the blade of the five in one mine does not move. what does that piece do?

I should get a pair of Iron Rangers just to have them in my rotation but when I tried on a pair I could feel a few of the nails through the heel; nothing a thin insole wouldn't fit and then the hard sole with no midsole, meh. Almost better off spending a bit more for Truman's or something else in the $400-500 range unless you really like the leather and fit of the Iron Rangers. They fit me just fine, just the issue with the nails in the heel were the turn off.
