Great review! Just a couple of notes on IMAscore, they also do rides for other merlin parks, but also rides like Helix at Liseberg. Secondly, the In The Hall of the Mountain King score is actually what Alton Towers uses for their marketing, it's sort of their park anthem so that part of each rides sountrack is meant to mimic that. Great review though and glad you enjoyed the attractions!

Thank you! I knew about IMASCORE but didn't feel the need to say too much about what they do outside of the park but that is good information. I learned after recording that In the Hall of the Mountain King is the unofficial theme, which I found very interesting.

@ThemeParkAvenue I absolutely need more of IMAscores soundtracks on spotify, we got Hyperia 2 days ago and I need Smiler, Wickerman, etc...

I think part of the reason why you might find Nemesis theme disjointed is because the Phalanx and the military stuff wasn’t a major part of the backstory when the ride originally opened in the 90s. When Nemesis originally opened the theme was more “Mad max but with a alien”, the Nemesis creature (it isn’t actually a alien it’s more like a inter dimensional being) was disturbed during a excavation and a Military group called the phalanx was able to contain it using bent and rusted steel that fused with the creature, and once the Phalanx left a cult formed around it and adopted the abandoned and rusted excavation equipment as their own. That’s why the original ride had fake rust painted on it, the original area had drilling and mining equipment everywhere and the Blade pirate ship next door is… a blade. However in 2012 alton towers decided to revive the Phalanx and have them be the main theme of nemesis, starting with Nemesis sub terra where the military group returned and tried to harvest Nemesis eggs to breed more Nemesis creatures. This was expanded when they refurbished the ride with Nemesis reborn: The Phalanx returned to nemesis and experimented on her so they could weaponise the beast and turn it into a weapon, but the creature rebelled and is now at war with the Phalanx again as they try to contain her. That’s why the area is now military themed, complete with the crashed helicopter and the massive gun aimed at the creature. The 2 different versions of nemesis are 1 continuous story, but the focus of that story has shifted over time.

At the end of Sub-Terra there is supposed to be scare actors still. But it is extremely hit or miss for if they are in there. They wear full black with gas masks and run down rattling the cages and shouting at people to get out. Such a shame the park doesn’t always have them in, cause when they are, it’s quite scary
@ThemeParkAvenue5 ай бұрын
There actually was one actor in there when I went, but they didn't say or do anything so I didn't even realize they were supposed to be part of the story until you said that.

this may have already been commented, but at the end of the day it can be much quicker to leave by the exit by nemesis reborn & galactica! it does depend on where you park, but i've been lucky before and got parked either right outside this exit or a short walk away.

That’s very useful to know, thanks for adding to this.

Oblivion used to hold you at the top for longer, and there was audio during the hold saying DON'T LOOK DOWN! But apparently people were screaming too much and the people who live next to the massive theme park complained about theme park screams coming from the massive theme park they chose to live next to. So they lost the audio and shortened the hold to basically nothing, it barely stops. I have learnt to love oblivion, due to the hole I feel it looks much more intimidating before the drop than any other dive in the world, it's a 180ft drop, 2/3 of which is underground. It's sad it just ends but I like to think of it as that parks drop tower, and as a drop tower it's fucking amazing
@ThemeParkAvenue5 ай бұрын
That drop is insanely photogenic for sure. Thanks for the information on the park’s past.

You can get into alton towers at 9 am, so you can walk to the first attraction and join the pre queue before the rides open at 10 am

You cant call it 'THE ultimate review' if you missed The Curse of Alton Manor! Thats doing viewers a great dis-service! Somethings you definitely missed.. the theme of the towers is In the hall of the mountain king. Every year the fireworks conclude with it and a specially recorded orchestra piece that incorporates the other ride music themes. Hex is back open and looking better than ever. Nemesis also had the back story of being called to the location like zombies. (Hence riding it). Becuase Alton is the BIG UK theme park often rides stories are used for massive advertising campaigns when they open so the law is built into the advertising. For example sheep sprayed with the smiler logo appeared on multiple farms around the country mysteriously. The og nemesis had drinks, comics etc.

S sector when it had 2 flat rides was coherent, now I agree, nope... Galactica too ...nope, fun rides tho ej mate?

Alton Towers is my favourite theme park. I think they should change the theme of Galactica to some sort of Phalanx jetpack thing or maybe even a winged monster theme idk.

39 inches is not 1.2 meters. You have to be 47 inches to ride Wicker Man

@@ThemeParkAvenue My apologies for being nitpicky. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and your refreshing opinions on my home park (particularly from an American’s perspective). I too think the Smiler is overrated and I prefer both Galactica and Wicker Man

Btw it's only the Americans that have trouble driving round those roads, they're very typical for the UK, not only are they tiny and twisty and bumpy, they also mostly have 60mph speed limits that people rarely stick to 😂

I figured that would be the case. I mostly wanted to warn Americans.
