When I worked in fast food, my friends and I ran lots of hypotheticals. And as Dnd nerds, we eventually established a makeshift system to guide us. Like Dnd, one person was the story teller (gm), and 1-3 people made choices based on the questions or prompts given by the game master. Instead of dice, the gm secretly chooses 3 numbers between 1 and 10, and the player has 3 guesses to find them. Typically, you only need to correctly guess 1/3 to succeed and every correct guess past that improves your success. In more difficult circumstances you may need more successes. For example, say someone gets cornered by zombies in a hallway and you ask them / they ask you to look around for items to be used as weapons. If they get 0/3 numbers correct, they find nothing; 1/3, they find a wooden broom handle; 2/3, they prise a chunk of metal from the damaged wall; 3/3, they find a gun on a nearby fallen soldier.
