I don't know if you've heard this style of music, but it makes absolute sense especially when it comes to Mexican "Norteño" music, which is an accordion driven style similar to Tejano, but with a rougher, more authentic sound. There are so many rhythms and styles of songs that the subgenre has to offer such as rancheras, cumbias, huapangos, and corridos. Most local norteño bands that I've seen here in Texas are able to package these songs well based on those two aforementioned elements.
