I have the Gen 1 with blade grinding attachment and have enjoyed it for many years. There's some interesting changes with this revision... but like last year's car or TV models, there's not enough of a reason for me to upgrade, as they seem like quality of life improvements. If you're buying one, go for this Mk.2 for sure, but the original is still viable. These belt grinders can help with difficult blades. Recurves especially, but also for pen knives or SAKs that are problematic to get properly "clamped" in fixed-angle systems because they're not tall enough. And of course all the standard garage-fodder (lawn mower blades, shovels, axes, machetes and the like). I just wish I could order individual or single-grit sets of the stiff belt options. Maybe if I email them with puppy-dog eyes one day I'll get lucky and we can cut a deal for a grip of the X200 belts.

Absolutely agree, especially if you done some knives, you get a feeling of that free-hand grinding. And i highly recommend the stiff belt kit and the stropping kit. Reprofiling with high grit stiff belts and get it hairpopping with the strops. First I thought the power tool is too powerfull for me, but if you touch them up with low speed and stop with the tip in the middle, you can´t go wrong. I was always a fan of stones, but this is a gamechanger and timesafer, especially if you have lots of knives

Man, that "KO2" looks awesome! I'm thinking it's time to upgrade 👍 Great collab by the way Kyle and George 👍

Might try this or the original one day. I prefer my clamping system but this would be great for my cabin. Whenever I don’t have time or patience.

I love this tool for working on my convex edge knives like Bark River models. For full flat grinds, I prefer to use my KME.

I hate that they still kept that old school angle guide which is borderline nothing. Had to buy after-market parts for a guide that keeps its angle. It's not hard to design that or have accessories for its largest problem.

I hoped to find your comment earlier, then I won't buy this stupid product. the attachment is a complex and useless heavy metal. I need to muscle memorize the "FLAT"!!!! Nobody should buy this one!
@phdyoutubedegree19392 ай бұрын
I bought the attachment. Yes it works well to help keep the knife straight but not as comfortable as freehanding it. Freehanding takes practice but I like the challenge. It's actually fun. If you bought for sharpening other people's tool then get it. You will enjoy freehanding better.

The angle is not that critical. Close is good enough for a super sharp knife. I use the blade grind attachment exclusively

I have the older version and I am super happy with it , but if I decided to upgrade do the belt sizes remain the same for the older and the Mk2 models .

For a few hundred dollars, you would think they can make a cheap angle adjust for your blade.

The movement of the belt when the knife is touching it, changes the angle significantly. Something to watch out for.

The new blade attachment looks much harder to clean, those nooks get very dusty. The secondary plate and easier to read angle guide is nice, but not sure if it's worth the much higher cost compared to the gen 1.
@alpine1600s7 ай бұрын
I would recommend this for larger or irregular shaped knives, axes. But for the best edge, a KME fixed angle sharpener is best. Unless you have your freehand dialed in, then Shapton wet stones are best.
