Fantastic video. I loved spinning workouts at the gym but after my folks got a spin bike at their place a couple of years back I’ve started to get hooked on it at home, the only downside is the bike they have is too small so I need to get my own bike with more adjusting options. Glad I found your channel

I was lucky enough to pick up a second hand 35kg front flywheel bike in isolation. I’ve ended up replacing the pedals and the friction pad after 3mths of near daily use. It has to be my best purchase ever. And I still use it multiple times a week, even though the gyms have reopened

Hi. Thanks for all you do. I've been looking at bikes for weeks and can't decide. First I was thinking recumbent but now I'm thinking spin. Is echelon any Good? Thinking the ex 5 due to adjustable handle bars... I'm real short 4' 11
@KirstenAllen

Unless you have an injury or other reason for not being able to stand for reps on the bike, I highly recommend a spin bike! Echelon is great. I couldn't find many specs for the one you listed but the max user body weight capacity is high which indicates a sturdy bike. All, it seems very adjustable. Side note - I highly recommend checking out facebook marketplace for a good deal too!

Hi Kristen what do you think about Sunny fitness sf b1877, that one looks decent to me except it is really heavy, approximately 55 Kg for the whole bike and the flywheel is 29 lbs which is one pound short of what you recommended😅does it really matter? I have seen some bikes that have 35 pounds of flywheel but the whole bike is only 60 to 70 lbs, sounds not too normal to me, that means without the wheels those bikes are only about 30 to 40 lbs?😮🤔️would they break easily?🤨 Thanks in advance
@KirstenAllen
@KirstenAllen Жыл бұрын
Hi! I would recommend looking at the Max User Bodyweight Capacity of the Sunny bike (or any bike) to confirm the bike's quality! A good quality bike should be able to support around 300lbs. I wouldn't worry about a 1 lb difference in flywheel weight. Also, I highly recommend trying to see if you can get a good deal on a used bike off Facebook marketplace first!

Not sure if I found the right bikes but both seem to offer full adjustability. Just depends on what other features you're after. The sole bike supports a slightly higher max body weight capacity which suggests a sturdier build but the other one is on sale for a great price. Both look like great options with the heavy flywheel though. Have you tried Facebook marketplace first to see if you can get any deals on a secondhand bike?!

How do you think the Kesier bikes much lighter flywheel effects the pedaling feel and overall workout compared to most other heavy flywheels? Most people seem to love the Keiser but a few people, especially the Studio Cycles guy say they are inferior. What are your thoughts on Keiser light flywheels vs heavy flywheels?
@KirstenAllen

Heavier flywheels typically feel most similar to outdoor riding and you have to work harder to get the momentum going. However, Keiser bikes do have a great reputation. I have not personally owned one though!

@@KirstenAllen I have a Keiser knockoff and it's was a great deal for a beginner / slow poke like me - Ha! For $250 it's magnetic with belt drive, but the skeptic in me also opted for an extended warranty. I would consider something more spendy if I had the stamina to justify it, but this should work fine for now. Cadence of 80-100 is a dream, and I can barely manage half of that. - lol Thank you for your dedication to the channel and subbed yesterday.

@@justexcel522 I would go with a flywheel weight 40lb+... Not sure what the bowflex c6 flywheel weight is. Which of the following options is better? - direct contact resistance with 18 kg flywheel - magnetic resistance with 6.5 kg flywheel I know magnetic resistance is definitely better but is having a heavier flywheel more important??
@KirstenAllen
@KirstenAllen 3 жыл бұрын
A 6.5 kg flywheel seems pretty light... I would go with the higher quality bike overall. Double check the max user body weight capacity of the magnetic resistance bike and the materials used for the frame. This will be a good indicator of quality. Like I said in the video, I prefer to prioritize a heavier flywheel as it gives a smoother ride and is most comparable to outdoor riding.
