Some great tips here, I would also say you can turn the UI volume down to get rid of the hit marker sound, makes for a little more realism on console. I recently started playing on PC with Spartan realism mod and authentic warfare mod. Playing with those mods and no HUD extreme difficulty and you've got yourself a seriously intense, immersive and tough tactical shooter. Love it. Seriously underrated game.

For the hitmarker sounds, you can turn them off by turning off the menu / interface volume. You wont have a sound while clicking trough the menu but the hitmarker sound is gone :)

what i play on, and i've worked up to it. is enemies on extreme and tactical on elite setting. it sounds a bit crazy but it really forces you to develop your movements and planning dependent on which "base" your hitting. i know it's a stretch from some peoples' playstyle but if you want to slow the game down a bit this will definitely make that happen. use biv buffs to your advantage as well as foods in the field. i also advise turning off the "vision detection" system as well as turn offenemy markers and allies markers as well as teammates markers and develop your positioning and area awareness. if you want a challenge. do all that and turn off your HUD. like i said i have tactical set to elite with the elimination of the remaining HUD left on the screen. i believe it's the weapons display/ammo etc. edit: also turn off your teammates' special abilities. and keep azrael drones and helicopter patrols on. and only can get helicopters from erewhon or in the wild but allow shop at any biv. turn off subtitles and ingame music and use your ears and eyes to locate enemies. with no HUD, use your binoculars and/or drone to determine cardinal directions.

For the most part I agree with the hud, but I like the display to see my ammo count and health. I turn my minimal to always and have it set to a small compass. Mission reminder is dynamic on mine too.

You make a good point about "Normal" enemies. Someone said that Breakpoint is a tactical game with some stealth mechanics, not a stealth game with some tactical mechanics. I know some people want to play this like Hitman (perfect silent missions) and that's fine for them, but I like being able to be spotted and shift into firefight mode. With enemies on expert, it seems pretty much impossible to win firefights or even to withdraw and come back later. Honestly, this game is most fun IMO when an infiltration goes south. You got me thinking about Stamina. I agree how unrealistic "Extreme" is, but this game's fatigue system is also not realistic; it's too easy to have infinite energy and never suffer fatigue. So I'm going to try something new, which is to turn off the stamina bar like you do. That way my character will slowly gain fatigue as I play, and water will actually mean something. Also, I think what this game calls "Stamina" is better decribed as "Full Speed Sprint". So I might still keep it on Extreme, because I think that might make the stamina perks/buffs in this game be more attractive options. Cheers, and thanks for your vid.

For realism, you need: 1. Spartan Mod (difficulty mod) 2. Authentic Warfare (sound mod) 3. Alert sounds mod (removes alert UI) But I disagree playing on normal. Having over 500hrs or so in the game, playing on Extreme or Advanced will keep you on your feet at least.

If you don't mind that process, it would be great content for your viewers, and you might see from videos in the community, that the gameplay is at its best. thanks for noting that "Darkest Night" is still not all that dark. Also in this game the moon always seems to be full, and it's rarely obscured by clouds in my experience. Also, if you do play with AI teammates, the "Teammate Abilities" really stretch what can be called "realistic" when turned on: your support gunner gains a drone, your marksman gets super-AP ammo, and your SMG ninja teammate gains the ability to wall-hack. So I play with it OFF.

I've notice that when you set up your display settings correctly the darker nights option actually works the trick is to make sure you can barely see the grey skull and the white skull if you can make it to where you can barely see them both set it to where you can barely see the grey skull a rule of thumb i use is if i feel like i almost have to squint to see it then its good, also calibrate it in a dark or dimly lit room

My friend just bought this for me as a gift and i wasnt feeling it with the arcade style casual shooter this experience was giving me. When I started the game I played with marked enemies, just to learn the game first. I found it more confusing than being turned off, as it’s always marking every single enemy, even the ones that are 200meters away from me. So I turned it off. 😅 That was also the point, when I started to enjoy the game, I started to be more patient and to plan my attacks. Now I think that immersive, steath way is the way, how this game should be played. If someone wants a faster, more arcade experience, I think division 2 is a much better choice from the Tom Clancy series.

So i started tonight, put in over 2 hours. Had the initial cut scene and big crash then went to the crash sites, glad to get that over with. Then it began properly and wow, was i impressed! It wasn't the festering pile of shit i remember from over 3 years ago 😮 I killed a few groups of bad guys and cleared a small camp, was great and i was finding it becoming intuitive even after such a short time. I hate beginning a new game when you have no idea what's what 😅 Looking forward to hitting this hard. However, i have no idea how to "make" a bivouac and where is my drone?!!?! If you start conquest first they give you the drone automatically. Personally I like conquest slot better anyway, especially how the callers can call in multiple reinforcements. Too many people don't play stealth or tactically so it often doesn't go as well in a team especially if it is with randoms.

the nice thing about this is that once you get used to how far away something is with marks, you can turn them off and make callouts (especially if your squad got used to that visual as well) based on how far it looks. learn that and how to use the compass, and your callouts will be navy seal level. get even more specific (if you have amazing eyes and can see 2km away) and you have yourself the best milsim experience out there imo

I play Ghost Recon without HUD at all. I also don't use vehicles and only run when necessary. The feeling of hiking over mountain passes and always discovering something or thinking of tactics to get out of dangerous situations unharmed is absolutely insane. :)

Had the game about a week now and I bought it because I liked all the terrain I saw in other KZbin reviews of it but I have always been a first person shooter gamer, and always solo not any type of squad based gaming. This 3rd person switching to 1st person while aiming is turning out to be kinda fun, I have concentrated on opening bivouacs across the entire maps to be able to explore each area. I like your tips and will use some of them for sure, I used to play coop all the time until we moved to an area with only satellite internet with too high a ping rate to play smoothly with other players, I really miss that too. But was the main reason I adopted the Lone Wolf play style but is also why my friends that play get so far and if they get stuck they just quit. It doesn't. The difficulty setting you choose affects how enemies detect you, how much damage they can do to you, and their tactics. It's also how they balance co-op. The enemies deal less damage to lower-level players. Also, gear score doesn't affect weapons at all. A gear score 10 blue M4A1 does the same damage as a blue gear score 250 M4A1. The only thing that changes weapon stats are their mods, their quality (green, blue, purple, gold), and your weapon mastery. If an enemy is higher than your average gear score, they will just take more bullets and be harder to shoot.

Have you tried the realism mod? It gives the ai better vision and longer range engagement distances with reduced accuracy, so you can actually get into a gunfight from what I remember. had some issues and limitations but it worked fairly well from what I remember. Spartan Mod I think it was called

NO hud at all. and 1 extra tip my buddy found is if you turn down the UI volume, it turns off the sound of the bullet hitting which is more realistic in a way. At 500 meters your not gonna hear the sound of a round hitting a body

I would be more worried/annoyed with the poor ballistics. The game isn't really that realistic anyway. Play America's Army, you have to sit a test to be a medic, if you don't pass you can't play one. Same with a sniper, if you can't pass the test in the range you can't play a sniper.l, great game

I play extreme difficulty with injuries always on minimal hud and no suppressor, it's definitely difficult but feels the most realistic to me and honestly even with extreme/no suppressor the enemies are still to oblivious.

Would these settings be OK for someone who's had experience with sniping games (mainly Sniper Elite) I can snipe no problems but aiming with a handgun and trying to be stealth needs more work! My sense of direction us hopeless!! I'd get lost in a barn!! Not had a go of immersive setting yet. Can players with a rough aim still manage it? I do enjoy the sniping but it's the finding groups of 'bad guys' every few minutes and powwow they are down and onto next a bit boring and repetitive. Is there any settings ud recommend? I actually like to base how much stamina I have based on my gear/weapon, the heavier my stuff would be the less stamina I allow my self, I also set my brightness to 30 so it's pitch black at night forces you to use nvgs or thermal

Just how easy it's to turn off annoying gear level. Should be an Automatic option to play Casual or Mil Sim. Playing on MilSim Hud is automatically made clearer and less cluttered and obtrusive. There should be a an action to check what firing Mode rifle is set to. Safe, Semi, Automatic. Could be a button press and he players character checks how many rounds are the mag, as well as a quick look into what fire-mode it is in. Casual mode allows higher speed movements and increased damage absorption. Reflecting hostile behaviour as being between dumb and dangerous. Another fix that's necessary weapons such as HK MP5 and AAC HoneyBadger are subsonic, however they have too much takedown power over distance and not enough bullet drop. An M4A1 SOPMOD abeing an assault rifle needs to reflect having superior range and accuracy. While the sub-machine guns have response and tight space control at their highest grades. Same for handguns, their operation and agility in tight space and responsiveness should be extremely high. However their effectiveness in combat should be limited only to short ranges. Therefore making accurate kills from betond 150m should be punished or made unachievable. AI squad should only deploy grenades at the request of the player. Too many times AI have either killed civilians, destroyed critical objectives such as computers or helicopters. Hope they can carry on with how Breakpoint was. It needs a tweaks but it's pretty good. When matching with squad mates online, everyone should be placed as MilSim or Casual. No mix and match. Hate it online, where I'm going through hell fighting hostiles. While others have all their aids on. And are finding it easy. It needs to be even across the board. Rather than explaining what must be turned off in menus or what elements are realism breakers. Thanks for good information. Keep it real.

For Extreme players turn the injury system off. When bullets kill you in split seconds the last thing you need is the stagger animation preventing you from entering cover again. Injuries have no place in extreme because they're to jank and basically guarantee death. On the easier difficulties absolutely run them. Sometimes I do play normal, and when I do I enjoy the injury system a lot more.

Been playing for about 15 hours. I started on extreme/ elite because my ego told me i could handle it. Have all the hud except bullets and a compass turned off. (Enemy markers gives you wall hacks and is boring) I convinced my friend to join me, and he was on normal. There was like 10 ppl at this base, zero tactical effort came into play. Extreme/elite is not hard if you just slow it down and do some recon.

I played about 40% through the campaign but then uninstalled it to make room for other stuff I was playing at the time. What really got me back into it was simultaneously playing XDefiant with all the different Ubisoft Spec Ops operators from various games as well as seeing videos like this making the game more realistic and less RPG like. I've always been a fan of RPGs but this game kinda feels dry in RPG mode, it's MEANT to be a tactical experience. Anyways, it ended up piquing my interest again and I ended up beating it.

I wish I had more people to play this game with I want to complete the story, but this game reminds me of the division it’s to complicated I like wildlands it’s straight forward and can have fun. I turn off gear level and still confusing.

An absolutely essential addition to these recommendations is to turn the NPC voice volume to Zero! The enemy AI in this game is weak. Tower guard snipers don't spot you until you are close enough to piss on their shoes and the incessant chatter from the patrols is never ending letting you know exactly where the enemy is at all times. Silencing these numbnuts adds some immersion and removes annoyingly redundant commentary. Just make sure to turn on subtitles, and if you know you are going to be talking to mission giver you can turn the sound back up. I would love to try the Spartan mod, but it's apparrently chock full of malware.

I just recently got back into it no idea why I quit playing but never finished the story. Was nice to see the Sam fisher add on and now the other as well. I'm having a good time playing it again.

Once I get a better device I'll probaly buy Breakpoint, the xbox one doesn't really run the game well (I tried it and it's choppy as hell). Wildlands tho! Playing without HUD makes it so much fun, loved every minute, I'll check this settings once I start playing.

@@deliberationroom It ups the immersion to 11. It does have some weird blur when using it, but there is a mod to fix that.

You have to have settings to offset the BS factor. This is true in every game. "Realism" in a video game has to be tweaked down.

Personally I run many on the bandage setting because 1. Im a medic and 2. bullet hurt

This is how I play few bandages syringes Hill two weapons no HUD whatsoever except weapon stats and loot chest shader no powers no sync shot weapons no gear level no objectives on-screen just communication markers tactical map limited to compass end world map shows only teammates and enemy clouds turn off everything that has to do with vehicle controls turn off input reminders turn off crosshairs turn off warnings and also hints there's a few more but I forget the class that I currently enjoy most is Pathfinder due to its drone strike if class powers are turned on

Also I had a question as you seems to have real life experience with guns & combat. How many 5.56 or 7.62 rounds it takes to incapacitate or neutralize an real life combatant (without a plate/body armour) ? Cuz in Breakpoint, if I am keeping the Gear Score off, it takes 4 shots centre mass to drop that sentinal solider whereas with Gear Score on, I can do it 2-3 shots (In fully alterted state). Which one is more realistic & should I go for ? @deliberationroom

Hard to say. It's all in the realm of possibility. Sometimes it's a one and done but there's stories of dudes taking a lot of rounds. Just depends

Depends on the place you are shooting. IRL, it’ll take 2 shots to the body to really make sure the enemy is dead. IRL, like in-game, takes 1 shit to the head to kill an enemy not wearing a helmet.

The others just had issues at the time which I think was a bug. I've since increased the difficulty and haven't run into the same issues
