Today's tale is a special one because it was inspired by YOU! That's right, you in the comment section!
After my last adventure in which I was testing out mermaid stashes, I received a comment suggesting that I should build a keg trap.. By using mermaid statues.
How could I pass up on such an adventure? Keg traps might be nothing new but building one on the seas-- Effectively creating a mermaid trap? That sounds like fun!
Naturally, things never go according to plan so between many funny moments and highlights, we also had to deal with a bunch of PvP.

I remember one time I was chasing a brig in a rowboat, and lost them for a moment before seeing a brig at a fort in the Wilds. Somehow, the one at the fort was a different brig. One that had probably close to 200 kegs on board... Needless to say, the next 10 seconds lagged me into oblivion. I still can picture their faces as they rowed around the corner and back to their dead ship...

Indeed but i have to remind you sir that house Stark is underated? No. It shows a house which has started the same way as most other houses….. through ruthless warfare and conquest. See Theon Stark for example. It is a house where some rulers ruled benevolently. Sometime they took rash but honorable actions and paid the price. Sometimes they paid the price for mistakes during wartime. Sometimes they lost their lands and had to fight to get it back. And sometimes they got lucky and had Lady luck shine on them. Both good and bad events have occured to the Starks as both consequences of actions and pure luck. Major Starks have virtues as well as vice in them. Maybe Arya is a bit of a Mary Sue Maybe Robb should have kept it in his pants Maybe Sansa could have done something instead of being handed everything Maybe Bran could have been human instead of whatever the fuck Bran is now(best guess is manipulative God tree monster) Maybe Eddard could have been less of a doofus But hey every family has problems But you can't deny their greatness as well So yeah the Starks are not overrated and this is from a hardcore Dany fan so it's not some biased answer.

Man, when this first launched I remember it was very dull and bare bones. The quests were very repetitive and there were many issues with the game.. now it's packed to the gills with content, there is so much you can do now. Rare has really done a great job overall with this, I wish other developers would pour the love in their games like Rare has done with this project

One combat tip, if they are ladder guarding press F twice fast, you moddel will hop on and of, just keep doing it a view times and they will miss there blunder shots, thats when you clime on there ship and strike.

the Treasury south of reapers hideout has a shit ton of kegs in it to begin with ; you could have gotten atleast 10 from the shrine itself ; saving you a bunch of Gathering kegs and Swimming down time lol

And here's the comment I was looking for... If I'm ever solo slooping I raise reapers, sail South, grind the treasury, and then stash a keg away that spawns from the treasury and the moment I get the notification I lost emissary value I swim a keg up to the profile of the ship, straight to the unsuspecting "victors." Basically the polar opposite of what was done here.

Just for the future if you go to one of the treasuries you'll fight through waves of enemies and a couple of those waves will spawn kegs you probably get most of your 20 out of a treasury and not have to swim anything up or down

I got something that might be of interest for you, I was once chilling on an outpost with my mates and a row boat came by, a row boat with a mega keg which then went on to suicide bomb into our ship and sink it. Anyways, you should try that, maybe with people selling at reapers?

@@CliffTheStoryGuy I think the trick is not to try and kite them over it in a chase. You want to use your ship as a decoy and make it look like you're just doing the shrine normally. They will likely park next to you and board you. At that point, your outside guy (person on a rowboat slightly further off) will give the call the release the kegs. Everyone else respawns on the decoy ship before it sinks, jumps in the water, and tries to move a keg onto them if it didn't surface directly into them on its own.

Some friends and I got this to work shortly after this update came out. We set up the trap and decided to stack FOTD ten times (pain) because at the time you couldn't bury loot, but you could store the reapers chests in a mermaid so you could have more than 4 of them in a server. We eventually got a Reaper 5 sloop that merged in to chase us and we got them to run into the trap and it sank them. It's really difficult to predict where the mermaid is going to spawn though it was not easy to pull off. I don't know if Rare ever patched this as I don't really play the game much anymore, but it used to be that if you put loot in a mermaid and then portal hopped, your loot would still be there when you loaded into another server via the portal hop. So back then you could just portal hop if your server was dead and still have your trap loaded in a new server. Idk if you can still do that now though.

You know you could have gone to a treasury and load the kegs that are already in there + the ones that spawn on the skeletons, right ? You could load 10+ kegs like this in a few minutes, plus if you don’t have enough you just reset the treasury. No need to visit forts or swim down with the kegs… 😬

I collect kegs sometimes… took a page from ww2… basically when a ship gives chase i drop kegs behind me and count like 5 or 10 seconds and drop another…. They will eventually hit one but the results are mediocre at best…

As a 4 day-new n00b I have to ask. I outran a Reaperbrig in a sloop going against the wind and at some point my fellow pirate and me dropped a gunpowder keg in the water intending to set it off once the reaperbrig would get close enough to blow it up, but the keg disappeared. Does that have a reason?
