fantastic video. Visiting Otaru later in Dec 2024. Your video is the most helpful about Otaru I've seen on KZbin.

Very good video. It's refreshing to see something else than the usual destinations pushed by western youtubers. I hope your channel grows.

Really lvoe these in depth history and tourism videos. So much more info than a basic youtube tourism video. I also like this video with you narrating WAY more than your videos with just images and music

oh planning a trip to hokaido for next year autumn. It may not be the most beautiful during autumn, but the simple forgotten old town vibe is perfect for me. Plan to go there and have a relaxing day exploring, this video is very informative and helpful, thank you

Thanks so much for covering Otaru! Indeed, is the ULTIMATE GUIDE! I also found Blue Cave, but in the winter, there are no boats to the Blue Cave.

Odd. This looks like canalave city. I visited there when I was young on a cruise boat that departed and entered right in the canal.

Three times a year, JR offer cut-rate Bullet train deals exclusively for the elderly who have signed up for JR membership. So the average age of passengers during the five-day periods of the offer is around 75. The Tohoku leg takes you all the way to Hakodate in Hokkaido. Essentially there are no Bullet trains in Hokkaido. So after that you have to take the regular JR trains to Sapporo, Otaru and beyond, which are included in the deal. Japan has become the hot destination for western visitors, largely because of favourable exchange rates. No rainy season in Hokkaido so this may well be a factor. Because of the recent influx of foreign tourists combined with domestic tourists, hotels in Otaru tend to get heavily booked, so parasite booking outfits like Agoda and Expedia indulge in price gouging. But persevere and providing you factor in some lead time, it is possible to score a reasonably-priced room. Bur be aware that hotels in Japan tend to charge per person rather than by the room, but this is changing. The Nikka Whisky tour tends to be over booked, too.
