Nice watch 🙂 The dial looks a little bit like a plastic molded piece to me but this is probably better in reality than with macro shots 🧐 I love those "new old" military watches, especially the small ones. The Seagull ST1701 has a sub-seconds dial at 6 o'clock and it is an automatic movement 😉 I have it in my Baltany D12 36mm (sand blasted case, but I brushed it all, so it looks way more like some of the original D12 watches).

@@WatcheswithGeorge In the Merkur this is the Tongji chinese standard movement, inspired by the Swiss Enicar 1010 and Japanese Seikosha Seiko 850 (76xx) movements. It has been manufactured in various forms in numerous factories since 1972. Not a Seagull 😉 I have a Merkur Skin Diver with this movement, without the sub-seconds dial. Merkur use this movement but they improve it a little bit and give it a better finish. If I'm not wrong, Seagull movements comes from the Tianjin Sea Gull Watch Manufacturing Group and the Tongji movements are made by the Shanghai Watch Factory.

ST17xx comes as automatic and hand wind movement. I'm a huge fan of 4 o'clock (ish) crown and all watches I'm wearing have this feature. This one was on my list till I got Boldr😊

Thanks George great review. I like the 4:30 crown as a point of difference and I assume no ghost date. I believe Vario have a good reputation as a micro brand. For reference what is your wrist size 👍
