On RuneLite using inventory tags makes it a lot easier for switching gear. I tag all my mage gear in green and range gear in blue. So its basically just clicking the green or blue gear in your inventory to match Zulrahs current phase.

Thanks so much, your advice about just scouting for one rotation was a game changer. I was struggling with 1kc for diary, I picked rotation 3 and got it on my third attempt, had about 7 standard attempts prior which were completely hopeless.

How does he never spawn fog where your standing? I marked all the same tiles as you and always stand in the correct one but he still spawns fog right on top of me so i run out of food before the end of the fight if i try to use these same tiles

Something important to watch out for: there’s a small chance an extra green phase may happen in the rotation that starts red, blue, then green off to the side. It’s not shown in the helper or most charts/guides, but it’s on the wiki strategies page for Zulrah and I’ve run into it myself. This phase switches between range and magic randomly, so it’s recommended to just hide behind the pillar. It’s the 5th phase in that rotation, if it happens, and afterwards the rotation continues where it left off. The fact that this phase isn’t shown in the helper or most charts can make people think they’re lost when it happens. You’re not. Just continue the rotation when it’s over.

With the current toxic blowpipe nerf, is it still the best weapon to use as a range switch?

At the start of mage phase (when mage comes up east) switch gear first, because zulrah only starts hitting you after spawning a bunch of snakelings. Don't need to pray mage from the start. This way you don't lose DPS.

Is blowpipe better than rune crossbow with diamond bolts? All guides seem to not list rxbow as an option, but by my reading of dps calculators, the xbow option is better.

I'm getting rotations that aren't in the video or on the wiki. I had a MR on the second phase, and a melee on the fourth. Then later in the same day about 30 minutes later I had one with a mage attack on phase two over on the eastern side of the island with a range phase right afterwards over on the western side. Anyone know what the hell is going on with my rotations?

Theres nothing wrong with your rotations. You must have gotten something wrong, theres 4 rotations, and im sure you’re getting one of those everytime.

There’s a randomly occurring serpentine phase early on in rotation 2 (the one that starts melee, tanzanite, then serpentine off to the side) which switches between range and magic randomly and is recommended to just hide behind the pillar for. It’s not shown in the helper or most charts, but it’s on the strategies page in the wiki. It’s like the 5th phase in rotation 2, if it happens. Hardly anyone mentions this in their tutorials and I have no idea why, because it’s worth noting and been around for years. It definitely threw me through a loop the first couple times I ran into it.

This video is the motivation i needed to continue practicing Zulrah! So would you suggest to keel trying 1 specific rotation untill that one goes flawless, and then start learning the next rotation? And what would you suggest as the minimum amouth of gear changes? Because im not very good at fast switching so i would like to keep that amouth as low as possible while learning the rotations

Quick tip it’s important to know that the ring of suffering alone won’t kill those little spawns. You need to add rings of recoil to it to charge it. And also it would be better if it was imbued at nightmare zone making the ring if suffering (ri)

Wouldn't recommend ring of recoil for learning. Thing breaks half the time before you get the kill in low gear. Suffering makes it a breeze

I wouldn't go for it. DPS from the Trident of the seas is just too low. Try out barrows with that trident of the seas man, works good there. Don't forget your morytania hard diaries

@@katt2064 void works, but will definitely pose a challenge, it has much lower defense than other options. Might be easier in some ways too if you're uncomfortable with gear switches

Would go for at least 85 mage/range before farming zulrah around then is when you get 2 kills per inv. Would prob just do barrows till you have gear/levels

Really really late reply here but at 75 mage you’re best off using a mystic smoke staff and tome of fire running fire wave than any form of trident. The max hit is just way too much higher than even the toxic trident at that level for one tick of attack speed to cover. You can hit 37s if you run it with an occult necklace and tormented bracelet. If you can’t afford the tormented it’s still 36 without it. Edit: smoke battlestaff -> mystic smoke staff because technically it’s the better version. The only actually difference is the melee stats though. But, they’re basically the same price, so might as well go for the nicer one I guess.

I’ve watched this probably 20 times to try and study the rotations and where to stand because I can’t multi task and click the phase on the helper plugin while trying to switch gear and maintain prayer and hp. I’ve tried to kill zulrah 60 times easily and I still can’t do it 😢

Update: got it down and it turns out I was way overthinking it. Don’t think about the phase you’re already in, sacrifice a bit to get to the next spot and get your gear and prayer switched ahead of time and it’s a piece of cake.

IMO, shouldn't be that bad if you have a stamina pot, use Home tablets for W330 POH, restore your stats, use portal camelot/run to catherby, bank and charter to port tyras. This will take two inventory slots , stamina pot and Home tablets (3.2k GP will be spent after charter), but for those that bring ring of dueling and Zulrah teles, it's also two inventory spaces but cost more.

so you're just supposed to memorize the order of the boss fight? I'm just starting to get into bossing and I don't get how someone is supposed to learn this in-game without guides... without risking your gear every time. I don't really see how it's fun to just memorize some guide to learn a boss, or memorize some guide to understand a raid. No wonder Zulrah is easily botted - the fight sounds like a repeatable list of actions haha

Two things. 1. When you die you get all of your stuff back for free for the first 50 kills from the person next to the boat. After that it's the same except costs 100k. 2. There's a runelite plugin or an interactive guide (whichever you prefer) that tells you exactly where to stand and what to pray/shoot.

After learning Vork I thought it was time I took on Zulrah, I go in, 2nd phase is melee, so I get mage 3rd, miss my first prayer then get hit with back to back range taking out my entire health bar, what fun, definitely gonna get the diary and then not come back unless I become a massive masochist. Vork is so much easier of a fight and gives more money, seems very silly

too many switches. I kept getting screwed because id mess up the gear switch and equip the book and not the trident and Id be barehanding zulrah. I use a crossbow now instead of the blowpipe, keep bolts equip and the book. That made it a 6 gear piece switch and now I can consistently get to jad phase, am able to get the switch perfect occasionally and now can switch prayers and gear as zulrah disappears. Morel of the story, less switches are more and messing up a 2 hand switch can ruin your attempt to the point its un recoverable as a beginner.

Because it has lower level requirements, and also it's easier to get into as it has lower requirements and it doesn't require a very tedious quest like dragon slayer 2. Zulrah has all these benefits while keeping a similar profit. So it does make sense.
