People need stop living in the past and continually bringing up old issues...it's time to move on, its 2022...The English who first came to this land on the first fleet are all gone..stop blaming todays "white" people for something that happened over 200 years ago...I don't condone what happen to the Aboriginals at all..but its time to move on...."Forgive but not Forget"...

1:25 The order matters. Voice, treaty, truth. A Voice makes the terms for First Nations participation in our government legitimate. A Treaty gives them back what was lost. Truth is a very long process of healing and setting the story straight. Without a First Nations Voice, it isn't First Nations Truth. Labor has the strongest policy of any party on this issue. Other parties, especially the Greens, don't respect this wisdom. The Liberals and Nationals dismiss it entirely. It's disappointing that the media is mangling such a straightforward statement. As if First Nations words cannot stand on their own and need someone to edit it.

Separate thinking 🤔 is what led to the war in the Ukraine it's time for indigenous Australians to grow up and realise all people suffer and I can tell you those indigenous Australians represent in Canberra are a lot lighter than the true first peoples of Australia so why are they there.........if that's what this is about? the real push is for Australia to go to a Republic that's what this is about!!
@Will-nb8qk2 жыл бұрын
No not separate thinking but thinking that addresses issues not just using them for political leverage. A people who were restricted from their own culture and restricted from the incoming culture had lasting generational implications. The “light skinned” aboriginals you refer to are connected to that continuous 100k year cultural line. Skin colour isn’t a measure of who a person is but their actual blood links and culture are. The defining by colour is a horrible and ignorant superficial distinction. One that is only for justifications for spiteful and nasty mindsets.

Anyone who believes this will unite Australia and not further divide it is sorely misguided. Referring to "Australians" and "First Peoples" is the first wedge. Wanting a treaty between people in 2022 where NONE were alive when the alleged invasion took place is another wedge. Having a disproportionate voice in Parliament goes against the "one person, one vote" fair representation principle. A good many of us ARE NOT from English ancestry having emigrated long after the English colonised the place. Anyone born here or a naturalised Citizen should be treated EQUALLY with absolutely NO PREFERENCE for any one group regardless of their claims. Those of us who are not of English ancestry have nothing to be sorry for and no reason to enter into a treaty. Thank goodness our Constitution requires a majority of voters in a majority of States to have change.
@Will-nb8qk2 жыл бұрын
Very silly superficial comment. If you are a citizen of this country then you also become part of the historical implications otherwise you haven’t seriously wanted to be a part of this country but just the financial benefits. Australian governments and authorities are to blame ultimately and not the general population but we blondly let governments do what they want.
@garyquinlan40752 жыл бұрын
@@Will-nb8qk My experience with people who insult is that they have nothing of value to say. ALL citizens in 2022 should be treated equally by the government they elect to represent them regardless of where their ancestors come from and regardless of what previous generations did or did not do. There is not one citizen alive in Australia today who is entitled to anything another citizen is not entitled too based on what happened to their ancestors. To believe that there is, is to condone separatism and not unity!

@@garyquinlan4075 : You continue to make superficial statements. There is equality and then there is equity, which cannot be confused. Whether you and I like it or not there was a people who lived here for 100k years and survived nicely without us. We get to live here rent free and have come from every other country on the planet only to disturb and destroy an existing culture. They live with the consequences of our disruption to their culture. We chose to come here for the most part besides convicts. Now the equity aspect of your superficial equality argument is: We stopped this people from practicing their culture and now we expect them to make headway in ours despite generation upon generation of denial. They are starting on the 100 metre mark but the rest have had the opportunity to continue from where we are which means we have a head start on them. The equality argument is silly and superficial.
@garyquinlan40752 жыл бұрын
@@Will-nb8qk You think my comments are superficial. I look at them as reality. There are many examples across the globe of peoples who no longer control their land or resources and not just from so called "invaders" but from neighbouring tribes who gained the upper hand. Now the REALITY is that in NONE of these nations is ownership or land EVER going to be given back (except for small reserves of government owned land) to any so called original owner NOR are 2022 citizens going to be paid anything for their claimed ancestors loss. That IS REALITY. What you want has no chance of bringing unity of Australians!

@@garyquinlan4075 : Once again, just silly superficial statements. Many are making reparations for actions that were done right across the globe. What was done to steal land wherever they may be despite it happening whenever does not make it right. If you think it’s right then you aren’t being genuine about your position or you are just a spitefully nasty individual. None of what was done in the past wast right and none of what may come in the future will be right. If we should all just cop it on the chin then let’s just let China have their way without resistance. Let them come and change our language, take our properties and throw us in the centre without education, sufficient care. Let us just roll over and accept it because that is what you are implying. If you aren’t then pull your head in and stop with the nasty and spiteful selfish attitude as a beneficiary of the destruction of this culture. Silly argument my friend, silly and superficial.
