Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

Just watched this for the 2nd time. My inspiration for renovating a 100 yr old dresser. And I'm doing this at the tender age of 70 yrs old (not a typo). I even made a beeswax polish that has a rose scent that reminds me of my mother. I'm using it inside the drawers so that I can be reminded of her when I open a drawer. Thanks so much, Andy, for making me get up & do something!

Oh wow Charlotte, thank you very much for sharing this! I'm so touched to hear I helped in some way with your inspiration - and what an incredibly lovely idea to make your own wax polish with a rose scent - I'm blown away! Best of luck with your wonderful and very special project! 🌹

Hello Charlotte, I REALLY admire you, how wonderful that at seventy years young you decided to take the plunge and renovate an antique piece. I would love to know how you make the rose scent beeswax that reminds you of your mother. I am growing roses that remind me of my Nanna. You could even get your family to help you make a youtube video on it. God bless, Wendy

You started with a pathetic sorry looking piece with plenty of potential and your patience and vision gave it a wonderful second chance. It is heartwarming to see pieces of bygone days be given some TLC and a refreshing look. I was glad to see the repair part of this video so now I have a better understanding of how things are done for the nitty gritty part. With a stash of furniture I have collected, I am getting more motivated in trying to do something with it to restore its use and enjoyment in a new home. Yes, I love the color you chose and using the wash technique for the bottom which gives it more character and style. The white wax gives a lovely soft romantic feel. This dresser deserved your love, patience and vision, and it is now a lovely piece to be enjoyed by someone who will appreciate and enjoy it. I love your channel and the inspiration you give me.

I too have some repair work to do, on my second project. Andy has given me more confidence to get going. I’m going to use Bondo instead of the 2 part putty that I have. I’ve used it for a couple of repairs and it’s not as pliable as I’d like to have it. Working in small batches will be key, for me. I’m excited for your daughter, Sydney, to be learning and honing her craft. Watching these Fables makes this even more fun than it already was, for me. 💕

I’m just starting out on restoring old wood furniture. As a single father with not much extra time I try to find ways to cut corners but I learned not with this. Watching you has giving me many ideas for some of my pieces iv done. You have turned me on to chalk paint. and I’m now using spray can chalk because I can’t afford any of the good stuff let alone one of the brushes. Any ideas. Love your channel and love the fables idea I’m a big reader and like how u fused books and wood. Thanks for all the good content. Me and my son love watching your transformations and love that u show us the numbers as well.

Thanks so much Jacob!! It's true one of the most challenging parts of this craft is balancing between quality work (which usually means lots of steps and a little more expensive products) and your time! Finding that balance and what worked best for me definitely took me a little while. 😊 As far as cost - there are a lot of less expensive paints out there that many furniture artists absolutely love! I've actually never used spray chalk paint, but I hear it can be great. Another line to consider trying is Chalked by Rust-Oleum. Best of luck, and thanks so much for watching!

Yes, I'm one of those DON'T PAINT THE ANTIQUES for certain. And I actually prefer modern furniture in my home but I have massive respect for both the people who took so much care to hand build the pieces, as well as the (often endangered) woods used that we just can't get anymore in some cases. However, when someone rescues a piece that was not salvageable without essentially rebuilding it AND treats it the way you do, that's entirely different. Some are for restoration and some for painting. The issue is the number of people who watch KZbin videos and run out and poorly paint (and ruin) perfectly good antiques in a way that will have them sitting at the curb in a few years or less. What's needed is more education around the difference... so THANK YOU.

Wow!! As a complete newbie I learned a TON! And just....wow! to the finished product. I too have an old, surface-ly ugly, dresser or two, with very good bones. One is a gorgeous, although frill-less waterfall dresser. Months ago I saw a dresser, and style I was certain I wanted to use. Now, and please don't vomit, scream in horror, and/or call the furniture rehab police, I'm super into the shabby chic. Or anything that doesn't look new. But again, this dresser of yours... It's like the perfect middle ground between shiny and new-looking and beat to hell. Much food for thought. Thank you, thank you and thank you! 😍 And I'm so glad this is a new video; I hate it when I find a creator I really like and they've stopped posting videos months and years ago. ❤️

I absolutely love your videos! The MOLD idea is fantastic! I just bought a night stand that is solid wood, great bones and to anyone else they would think the piece was a nightmare! What I saw....is the potential of the piece. I liked, Subscribed and will be watching MORE of your videos! We are on East Coast.

Once again, not including your time in your "profit" calculation. Just cuz it's fun (and you have the time...) doesn't mean you shouldn't be paid!! What a gorgeous piece!

Amazing transformation! I enjoyed watching & learning from every component of the transforming process. You're obviously a pro at every step, but not a snob about it, but rather an encouraging educator! Thank you so much for bringing us along!

OMG Andy you have completely saved my project which I've been holding off doing due to the small but very intricate damage it currently shows and here you go and post this which is exactly what I needed to learn how to fix within the boundaries of the products that are available to us. My piece is exactly like yours but a Tall Boy 6 drawer style version with same gorgeous brass handles and in mahogany wood with same delicate trim and lil floret accents that I fell in love with. The only thing is I did end up paying $75 for it off a Craigslist seller who was sadly having to part with it although it was her Grandmother's tall boy due to space issues in her home. Thank you thank you for including All the products used in the veneer drawer front repair which I will also need to address prior to cleaning and priming my piece. I can only hope I do as good a job as you when facing my sweet antique to die for Tall Boy. You're my saviour for having done all this work to teach us. Much love from The Big Easy.😚

I am a strict purist when it comes to painting wood furniture especially antiques. I say never ever no matter what cover up beautiful wood (even on damaged pieces) with paint or change the finish of any antique unless that piece of furniture belongs to you or the owner of the piece has given you permission to paint over the wood and is paying you. It is gorgeous.
