I met Harold Gilley about 15 years ago while I was Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor at Oak Grove High School in Alabama. I had a fantastic young lad singing Bass in my FFA Quartet. Harold heard us getting a sound check before the concert and he recognized that my bass kid Nic Smart had a lot of potential at age 17 and he walked back stage and down to the Ag Shop talking with Nic how to blow out his air and hit those low notes. He worked about 20-30 minutes with my young singer. Later, that evening when the closing of the concert came he called Nic up on stage for the Grand Finale with The Royal Master's that night and would stick his mic over in Nic's mouth at various times letting or showing off his young talented bass singer. It is something I nor Nic will ever forget. Harold Gilley was one of the very best voices ever in Gospel Quartets and I appreciated his taking time to help my young guy out. Wish I could see Harold again and get some pointers myself as I continue to sing bass myself with The Gospel Barn Qt in Dora, Alabama now that I'm retired and love to sing gospel quartet music. It's helped me on my path back to The Creator!

Gilly is one of the best bass singer you will ever hear ... He used to do a spot on impression of both JD Sumner and George Younce.

A great job by John on O What a Savior. Brings back great memories of Rosie Rosell "s renditions year ago. Nobody sang it like Rosie. Can't wait to hear him sing it in heaven.

It was meant to be that way, they was having so much fun and yet, they was the best show there that night. Harold Gilley was one of the finest bass singers to ever live, he ranks up there with J.D. Sumner, Tim Riley, and George Younce along with Big Chief. I can't wait to see the show that is playing in Heaven now, and the fun being had. Happy Journey Harold

I'm missing the joke, why are they calling the bass J.D. Sumner? And the title Un-Original Masters Five, was there a specific joke in another video about this i'm missing?
