I find it amusing that there are so many highly praised movies that the original authors despise. In some cases, it can makes sense, especially when the film goes against the entire point of the original story; but in others, it can be quite confusing because while things are changed, they often still reach the same point and even make things better in the long run, but because it wasn't done EXACTLY how it was in the original story, the original author (and some nitpicky fans) hate it.

In some cases, it's mostly about not meeting the original vision, about parts that the author might love or think is important being cut out entirely. In other cases, it's just the fact that they weren't included in on the movie to give their thoughts on it, which was the case here. Either way, it's a fairly common reaction from a lot of authors. ~ Pokeprof
