Just installed this in my 05 TJ. Replaced a single din Kenwood. The sound quality of the Alpine is exceptional. The UI is intuitive enough. Not much in the way of customization, I'm not a 14yr girl so that's not an issue for me. As with all of my Alpine experiences in the past, very pleased with this purchase.

I just picked up one of these for my Kia Forte. I still did not install it, but wanted to thank you for the great videos. I watch all the time, and learned alot from you guys. One thing I noticed is there is a gap on the top and bottom of the Metra kit. However, I learned a great trick from Dean to use weather stipping to fill in that gap. It looks great in the dash kit with a fabulous looking flush mount regardless of the large lip. I can't wait to hear the difference between my factory head unit and this Alpine.

I was really impressed with the unit, but functionality was not as I thought it would be, expecially for an Alpine. Great price and worth every penny.

Not sure if it's been requested before on previous reviews or not, but sharing a suggested retail price (not specific or regional prices which I'm sure are variable) would be awesome, especially for someone shopping for new gear. It's not a big deal, at all, but since you always serve up honest information it could definitely help make more informed decisions. Always enjoy the reviews, regardless. I went from a pioneer 4600 in my charger to this alpine 650 in my challenger,same amps and speakers,the sound is great,I just miss all the bells and whistles from the pioneer,wireless CarPlay,screen mirroring,for a basic radio the alpine is good,I bought mine new 2nd hand 8 months ago for 350 at the time it was over 600 retail,I paid 350 new for the pioneer before the “plandemic” now it’s over 500,if I can’t get used to the alpine I’ll be making the switch,thanks for the video

@@salvadorvega9202 Got everything installed but still working on the speakers. I soldered this unit to the Alpine KTA-450 amp and it was super easy. The nightmare has started with putting new Infinity speakers in my truck...but I do have everything figured out and all the correct mounting kits for my truck. I have the back speakers in which was officially the ONLY true plug and play so far, lol...believe it or not it is an absolute nightmare getting the front tweeters and 6x9’s connected together correctly with this black box that all speaker wires go too. I just need to get off my lazy but and sweat it out in my garage and finally finish this install. Only thing I do no like about this unit so far...when I finally gave the speakers ready to go I have to leave the whole system out of the dashboard so I can get to the amp’s gain level controls. I am not looking forward to eq’ing because there is so much of that to do, lol This unit better sound way better than my stock ‘05’s original cheap system. Wish me luck. :)

Very nice, I like the fact that it's not a full double din and it has a shorter back end. Currently running a pioneer double din but the android auto on that runs terrible, yes I checked and updated the firmware and it runs slow. My maps always freeze for some odd reason. I like alpine and I have a 9887 in my honda del sol.

maybe it's just me but i have a massive mp3 collection on usb. Some head units handle it well, others not so much. So I wanna see how each unit handles indexing and browsing large collections. But it seems like videos like this never addresses that. But I'm diggin this unit. Great video!

Great vid. I recently got a radio that i am less than happy with so I've been looking for something else. This is probably the winner. I like how he showed the dimmer as the one i got blasts you with the power if the sun and it has 1 different setting that is equal to a smaller sun.

I connected this stereo about a year ago and sounds clear and sharp! But one issue....the blue/white remote wire gets 12v as soon i switch my key to acc or start the engine even though the radio is in OFF position!

When using apple carplay navigation I’m unable to pause the radio actually the only way to turn off or pause the radio is to turn the power off on the unit or turn the volume all the way down which means you cant hear voice from the incoming calls. Yes the unit interrupt the radio when giving directions but music returns instantly and it’s very distracting. All I want is to turn off the radio when using navigation so I can pay attention to the directions without any music, is that asking to much a pause on the radio.

I have this radio installed I'm using Android but I cannot for the life of me find a way to turn OFF this radio! I can only turn it down. I watched this hoping he showed HOW to turn the radio off! So there is a way to turn it off or "power off" if I use an iPhone? I don't seem to have that option

Going to be installing this into your favorite car. A 2014 wrangler since it has the camera button, and I'm installing a back up camera I should power that through to the red accessory wire? or since there's no power antenna will the blue wire work for that? Also the jeep has the alpine stock subwoofer upgrade.

Just installed this with a PAC RP5-GM31 in my '08 Avalanche. Extremely happy with performance all around. Waiting for all my door install gear to complete the full Bose replacement. Curious if you know the clipping point of the deck to aid setting up my amp? Your vids are awesome and it's great showing how much goes into a solid install. I'm over in Seattle and lots of the great little shops have disappeared or gone full custom.

ProTech Mech yes, all but xm since I don’t use it. I also don’t have the rear seat screen but the rear radio controls do still work with the alpine. The factory mic does not work through the kit and the alpine mic does not pickup best in the factory spot. I am still very happy with this radio and the install kit.

Yes, you can watch downloaded videos or movies. Another cool thing is viewing MAPS in satellite view as apposed to typical road/highway graphics.

Hey Chris I have been a huge fan of alpine for 35 yrs since I installed my very first 7308 lol bit I recently installed the new ilx-w670. The sound is great. Not very thrilled about the super long parking brake wires 😢 lol but I have a relay on its way to solve that issue of only watching video while being parked with emergency brake on? I mean who puts their emergency brake on when you have an automatic transmission? Lol anyways I understand the safety reasons and the possible law suits if you didn't have that. But anyways the reason for this message is the microphone. Why is there no volume control on the mic? It's an alpine ? My son called me and said it was very quiet sounding. The mic is not obstructed and is actually on the dash about 14inches from my face? Do I have a faulty mic or can I upgrade to a better quality mic? What's my solution here?

Android Auto is Fantastic and as for Apple car play it can be turned off or on ,i have both set up and they work flawlessly, for such a compact design it packs alot of features , crossover point simple and advanced, watts per channel it feels like 25- but i have mine ran thru a audio control line driver too 2 Skar Audio amps and the sound is Amazing.

Alpine They recommended to zip-tie the usb cable with the radio wire harness. 😉Protected it from loosing.

I just purchased a car with the ilx-w650 already installed. when I go to the menu screen the only boxes lit up are radio, Bluetooth audio, camera and set up. Why wouldn't Sirius XM, USB, ipod and connectivity be lit up and accessable?

Hey Chris not sure if first message sent i have the ilx-w670 and love the sound quality. Its alpine all the way with the sound. My complaint or question is with the microphone. My son called me and said i was really quiet and im a loud talker so is there any way to turn the microphone volume up? Or do i have a faulty mic ? Or can i upgrade to a better quality mic? Please let me know bc i plan on using the hands free talk often and i have to do something to resolve this issue one way or another . Like i said the sound quality is top notch. Just need a solution for the mic

Jose Cruz Looks like all you need to do is connect the cameras power wire to a key-on constant power source. Then you can access your camera through the on screen button on the radio

Great video with great information. May I make a recommendation. I noticed this with many different KZbin videos, where the person making the video speaks in a heightened tone of voice, almost yelling. No need. You can speak in a normal tone of voice. With a more even tone of voice, you give the viewer opportunity to absorb every detail the first time and it is a better experience and will get you more viewers.

I like this head unit and almost bought it but it only has one USB cable. So I can't have one USB connected to a flash drive and another USB connected to my iphone for carplay. I would have to swap between the two. Which kills it, honestly.
