Speaking as someone who’s autistic my mum always said to me growing up inside thought. As in there are things I can’t just say to people even if it makes sense to me. Took some time but by 20 I’d grasped the concept 😅

I wish people understood this when I was growing up. I wish I had a dad that was present for me. I hope I can do better for my daughter. I have level 1 autism. Always thought something was a little different with me, but never understood why or how. With my little things, life was really hard sometimes. My mom although present never took me to psychologist or psychiatrist. I had to find out myself after grownup. I will watch this movie and a pack of tissues with me.

Was diagnosed with autism at 7 and honestly I'm sick of movies like this. The focus is always on the parents, not the kid, and the kid is always portrayed as oblivious to their surroundings. Trust me, you become hyperaware of what your peers think fast when you’re autistic. My friend with a facial disfigurement absolutely despises Wonder because it does the same stuff, it doesn’t surprise me that it’s being made by the same person who did that.

it's autism spectrum DISORDER and attention deficit hyperactivity DISORDER. it may not be literally crippling to the point of not being able to function at all but that doesn't mean it isn't a disorder that must be managed, i say this as someone with both (diagnosed).
