I love the one exercise against the wall. It restores my alignment so that everything else along my shoulders and all along my spine loosens. Will be taking this to the tennis court during tense moments when I need more looseness. Thank u. You’re truly one of a kind.

This seems like good advice. I had been battling arm/hand nerve pain over the past 3 years, only recently to be correctly assessed and treated for thoracic outlet syndrome... basically neck and shoulder posture issues. One overlooked, unusual symptom I've had is sporadic diaphragm "jumping" (causing a small gasp for air). None of the therapists I've mentioned it to made the connection to my other posture issues. Thanks Conor.

Hey Conor this page is awesome. What do you think about doing these exercises but still having to work at a computer a lot of the day. Does that posture negate the benefits of this or is it still a good starting point anyway?
@nichobee
@nichobee 6 ай бұрын
You must get up and move every 20 minutes. Leaning forward at a computer desk compresses your chest down into your ribcage and causes the root problem Connor talks about. Microsoft used to attach labels onto earlier products warning not to sit at the computer for more than 20 minutes at a time. There is no perfectly ergonomic way to sit at a computer all day so you have to manage it the best you can. There's a good reason why tradesmen generally have better postures than office workers

Hi Conor, do I understand correctly that the shoulders/upper back are supposed to be kind of rounded forward during these exercises? Normally I try to correct my bad posture of rounded shoulders and head forward by doing the opposite and pushing the shoulders back and down

@theflasher4019
@theflasher4019 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, conor surely you have trained or advised people with the PRI and strength exercises, do you know people who have really corrected this problem?, but when you really feel the neck it feels like a position that was curved becomes straight?, a hug and thanks for the videos
@orome9793
@orome9793 4 жыл бұрын
Do you actually have an example of someone that has decades of forward head posture and is able to correct it? Every single video and guide just has someone with perfect posture mimicking forward head posture then standing up straight. It's not that easy for someone that has decades of poor posture and has trouble straightening up even with force. When I straighten up and put my back/head against the wall, my Adam's apple juts out and my neck makes this bowed shape and I can feel my nasopharyngeal airway tighten. I cannot force my neck into a perfect upright position. I appreciate the effort, but I have never seen a before and after example of someone that actually has decades long poor posture be able to correct it.
@conorharris
@conorharris 4 жыл бұрын
I hear you. I think it’s important to consider that the visual presentation of posture is much less important than the actual movement capabilities of the structures involved. The visual presentation can improve more or less depending on age and how long they’ve had it. However, nearly everyone can improve range of motion and movement options to some extent. That’s what counts
@mattd3826
@mattd3826 2 жыл бұрын
Same here. I've had it for nearly 3 decades now and when I try and to chin tucks or anything at all to fix it, I can't breathe, as well. I am at a loss here
@theflasher4019
@theflasher4019 2 жыл бұрын
I was at that point, but I did the chin exercises as much as I remembered for a week, I got frustrated because I did it too many times and I didn't get any changes, but I still continued, I felt like my vertebrae were coming together until later I combined it with exercises of scapular retraction and putting in the chin, I couldn't believe it I could finally breathe in that position, currently I have a forward head but at least I don't have that suffocation, it should be noted that I also have a left aic pattern and the breathing I have also helped me a little a week so I hope I manage to solve it
@theflasher4019
@theflasher4019 2 жыл бұрын
@@robk9330 hello, I did do those exercises but before learning about PRI, I felt how my vertebrae rearranged themselves and my neck did not hurt when I slept, currently I am still doing the PRI techniques to get out of the left aic pattern and I feel a lot of improvement although sitting for a long time does not help, I will also start doing strength exercises and correct the pattern faster, psdt has been 2 and a half weeks since I started PRI.
@theflasher4019
@theflasher4019 2 жыл бұрын
ahhh, another thing, how long did it take you to get out of the left aic pattern? I think that having your head forward and having already gotten out of the pattern can help with the ATHLEAN X exercises, that is, the chin tuck exercises, because Jessie had a horrible posture but she corrected it

Tru. But more like the maxilla, or the bone the teeth attach to. Mike Mew covers this extensively. You can search "mewing" for more info. His channel is called Orthotropics.(it is technically not aligned with the orthodontics consensus, but his approach seems sound to me - and has shown results to me, tho, its taken quite some time cos I didnt start young)
