Ask forgiveness Judgements wrong It is said to left thee One or both, singing every word I shall pass here Lay here before Theres more darkness Stare into the unfillable hole On and on your Close today I heard a whisper Escape your tongue A voice that you told brave Tried pretending Was it not you? Saw my own ending (envy?) Die for yours So alone and cruel Held up who we wanted to Wanna pass with time The thing we thought we could never do Making up for the ride Pulled down from stones that slow down our flight Ashes from the trip Lord I want to Lose that day Scarred and bleeding Sitting soft, wondering if I'll be safe Find these holes from A lead outside One dead one living Another piece that didn't cross your eyes We held up who we wanted to What a passionate lie The pain we thought we would never do Makin up for the ride Pulled down from stones that slow down our flight Passes from the trip Shot out Spun out Slow down Carry that weight boy Slow down Brought down Locked out Carry that weight boy (Solo) And I never said goodbye Why can't i say goodbye And I didn't say goodbye Lost time to say goodbye This is my best guess as to what he was singing. What a deep song, in every way.

Holy crap! My son and I saw Jerry in Phoenix in April of 2004. He played this song at that show, and we both loved it. I never heard or saw anything about it ever again, even with a good amount of searching. I was almost convinced I had made it up. Thank you so much for sharing this!

He played it in Albuquerque on what I believe was the night after Phoenix. He played it a few times at the shows he opened for Kid Rock. I posted the setlist from that show somewhere (Alice in Chains message board? MySpace?) For years whenever this was discussed people sent me back that post-lol. There were a few interviews where he discussed unreleased Deg Trip songs and this was one of them-along with Glory Lane and some others...I remember it being 3 or 4 songs I hadn't heard before or since.

@@mypetblackhole5793 Agreed, Brighten is more of an optimistic album for Jerry. The Unfillable Hole is definitely a different vibe to it, like mourning the loss of something/someone. It's a heavy song to say the least.

@@rawkguy4896 Jerry Cantrell is one of my all time favorite musicians but Brighten (album) didn't impress me, honestly...too "country" influenced as a whole for me. I don't like to say it but I don't feel the album. I was hoping for some heavy riffs too, something more in the metal waters too, something different because Tyler Bates and Greg Puciato were involved too. I like his previous solo albums Boggy Depot and especially Degradation Trip way more...but I respect Jerry. Maybe I will dig Brighten sometime in the future, who knows. Never heard of the JC song Something New. I can't find it. Do you have a link?
@rawkguy48963 жыл бұрын
@@MLCrow Its not bad but its easily his weakest album in his entire discography, and the only one that doesn't have a song I'm constantly playing off it. A big let down in 2021 since I was really hyped for it. Sure! Check it out! I said on another video that Something New, Unfillable Hole and One Eyed Jacks was Jerry totally being a chameleon in the Post Grunge era. But instead of making douchebag rock he brought out the genre's strengths. Here is the link, I can totally see this on a superhero movie soundtrack of the time. Like Spiderman 2 or Daredevil haha kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJO8pHmoe9dnjac

@@rawkguy4896 Ok, I've heard this song but I just didn't know the title before. Thanks 👍 Yeah, I understand you (talking about Brighten). Talking about other songs by Jerry... I really like the song Setting Sun: Jerry co-wrote it with Tyler Bates (ex Marilyn Manson band) few years ago...that's why I was expecting something like that too on Jerry's 3rd solo album. I feel like it was recorded he just never released it, this was definitely one of the tracks that was gonna be on his 3rd solo album back in 04-06 but that album seemed to have died for some reason maybe because AIC reformed idk.
