For years now, we haven't known exactly what's going to come of the hit Cartoon Network show: Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart. Parker Simmons has mentioned on a few occasions that it'd be better to ask Cartoon Network than to ask him, because even he doesn't know if something got Mao Mao cancelled. I'm gonna speak about what may be the de facto Mao Mao Finale 'Mao Mao Strange Bedfellows'.

Maomao almost cured my friends depression, it was like a missing puzzle piece in her life that would remove or replace the depression puzzle piece, and then cartoon Network took it away which pushed her farther in depression, she is still in depression but it's not as bad as it was in the past. I just wonder why they cancelled it... My friend was almost happy...

One of the key things to makes characters likable, relatable, and/or sympathetic is to give them flaws and goals. Mao Mao's goal is to be considered a hero, and his flaw is that he's a hothead.

The creater Simmons got into a contriversy about a year ago that probably hindered the next season. Basically, to what i remember, he was doing a charity stream drawing whatever people wanted. He was told one commission was a character from NSFW work and flipped out on the kid who commissioned it. Simmons dragged the kid on public twitter, ignoring the request to keep it in private messages and humiliating him. The commission was of an OC the kid drew in a hot tub with Mao Mao, water covering everything. Simmons made an apology saying he just didn't want kids to be led to inappropriate material but still acted on hersey and ignored the kid trying to explain the rumor was wrong. Kind of hard to back a guy like that.

I remember seeing the intro for Mao Mao on KZbin and watching the first couple episodes really easily on CN but after a while, I unfortunately forgot about it, not because of my terrible memory, but because CN hardly played it! The only way I could watch it was to go out of my way to On Demand and find the episodes there, I almost never saw new episodes or any episodes on the actual CN network. How annoying that such an adorable and fun show is treated this way.

You know, it's kinda sad it never got continued... There was SOOO much potential, a lot of things were set up. I'd like to see what kind of people Mao Mao siblings really were, was there at least ONE sister that actually bothered to take time out of her studies to spend time with him. Like imagine a story where one of Mao's sister goes to therapy with her brother, only for Mao Mao to overhear that she resents him because unlike her, he could live how he wanted without becoming a hero, without sacrificing your hobbies, your childhood and any meaningful connections as well as your own body yet he CHOSE to be a hero. I mean, there are 6 siblings, at least ONE of them would want to have a different life.

Awesome video. Really validated how and why this series specifically really stuck with me. I severely hope it comes back, maybe at Comicon. You made a great point of how other shows such as Ed Edd n Eddy, Foster's home, and TDI grew a cult following from how morally grey and unique their characters were. Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adoabat are not so nice people, but the audience still likes them since they know that they mean well. It represents that wider moral spectrum which a lot of fans want to see again

I finished this show around 2 weeks ago after starting the previous day and loved every bit of it! It says that it may be renewed for a second season, but my doubts are still quite visible in my brain because of the dislike emitting from CN to the show. Both Adorabat and Badgerclops were spoken to by the Ruby Pure Heart, and I’d like to see Mao’s prophecy in a future season. I’ll beg CN if I have to.

What's going on with this show is horrible and reminds me how CN treats Ninjago. Ninjago is one if not by now the longest running show for CN. But it hasn't aired for like 3 years, failing to air now going on 4 seasons before Netflix releases them. I think CN dropping Mao Mao is bad for them in more ways than they realize. Cartoon Network relies on promising new talent to bring in fun and interesting shows, but what does dropping Mao Mao tell young animators? That you sell all the rights to your beloved work, and even if it's successful the network might drop it anyway, keeping you from making the show you wanted to make because they own it now. Do you think you'd sell your property to a network like that? Or even want to work for them? I wouldn't.

As for why the show got soft canned, I think it was probably because it was too different. Upper management always wants more of what already has sold, not what's new and might not sell. The more Mao Mao tried to tell a story about characters who weren't traditionally heroic and in many cases were downright selfish and mean, the less they wanted to renew the show. Knowing how Parker Simmons feels about his characters, he probably wouldn't compromise his story, leaving the project in limbo.

The unikitty show was originally going to have more seasons however it was canned early due to Warner bros losing the Lego rights to Universal due to the box office bombs of the Lego movie part 2 and the ninjago movie, and the Lego company thought warner bros was poorly handling the series as a result warner bros had no choice but to canned the unikitty series despite being popular
