I can remember the first time, after I joined the church at age 18, reading and learning that endless punishment was equal to God's punishment. Growing up in a Protestant environment as much as I wanted to give myself to Jesus Christ I could not get past the unfairness of those who had no opportunity to accept the Savior being punished in hell fire forever and ever. Around age 14 I decided I didn't know if there was a God. Then I was blessed to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ and to learn the sweet truth of Jesus being the savior of all people. Your teaching was a good reminder of one of the first things I learned sans missionaries by reading on my own.

I really appreciate this lesson. I can comprehend it intellectually, but my heart has been slow to accept it. I don’t even begin to understand the sort of person I really am, but I know I am nowhere near where I used to imagine I would be by this late date. I am still paralyzed by fear of failure, and I am constantly aware of my own failure to progress because of it. Elder Sweat, you are a great teacher and a great missionary. Thank you for your words.

Remember, repent DAILY. There is still hope as long as you’re alive on Earth. I too feel fear of failure but I say “do not resign to failure. We must keep trying, moving forward, do not give up. Keep seeking more understanding- like in this video. We do not need to be perfect in this life. Just do your best and repent daily. Pray often every day and read the scriptures. You can make it.” Feel hope. Thank you for this video. Deeper understanding is perfect motivation for perseverance.

Wow, that was beautiful, Dr. Sweat. Such a clear and concise way of presenting this doctrine. Answered many questions and “wonderings” I’ve had about this revelation, and a few things I never even thought about before. It makes so much more sense to me now! God is (profoundly and unimaginably) great 🙏❤️

The concept of everyone going to heaven overlooks what is taught in D&C 88. In that section we are taught that there are different laws for the different kingdoms. A person will inherit the kingdom of which they are living the laws thereof. This was covered but maybe the dots were not connected. If a person is choosing to be their own law (such as a narcissist does) then they are not suited for a kingdom of glory because they are living by their own laws rather than Kingdom laws. And those that are abiding by Satan’s laws will be his to do with as he pleases since he is their god. “22 For he who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory. 23 And he who cannot abide the law of a terrestrial kingdom cannot abide a terrestrial glory. 24 And he who cannot abide the law of a telestial kingdom cannot abide a telestial glory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory.” (D&C 88:22-24) Therein is also one of the great stumbling blocks of the church because it teaches that one merely needs to be current in their temple recommend and have all the temple ordinances performed in order to be exalted. That is far from the truth because the temple recommend only assesses by the Telestial laws, not by the Terrestrial or Celestial laws. Jesus gave commandments with the New Covenant (Matthew 5:3-16) and said that NOBODY will enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Celestial Kingdom) that is not living them (3 Nephi 12:20). The church teaches otherwise: it teaches that the temple recommend is what one must abide by to be Celestial-worthy though none of said commandments are addressed with the interview questions. That is a major stumbling block for members because it results in believing that they are Celestial-worthy while only living by Telestial laws or lower. What are the laws of each kingdom? They are based on the 5 basic moral standards. Those moral standards are a product of the core standard. The core standard is the basis for how the individual makes reasoned decisions, and is what defines how the individual sees right and wrong. If one wants to know what the core standards are, and how they directly relate to agency, then one will find that within the fulness of the gospel, which gospel is taught by the Zion Kingdom. The highest moral standard is based on unconditionally loving others. That reflects the laws of the Celestial Kingdom. Thus nobody will inherit that kingdom if they have not developed the ability to unconditionally love others. That unconditional love must be in their nature, not by force of habit. The second highest moral standard is based on living by the Golden Rule. That happens to be what the laws of the Terrestrial Kingdom are based upon. Thus those that have not mastered the living of the Golden Rule will not qualify for the Terrestrial Kingdom. One will know when they have reached that order of living because they will have received the Holy Ghost EXACTLY as Jesus did (2 Nephi 31:12, Luke 3:22). If the witnesses to the confirmation did not see the Holy Ghost descend and hear the Father speak then it did not occur as it did with Jesus, and the Holy Ghost was NOT received. The middle moral standard is the one of the “natural man”. It is based on seeking self-interests. They aren’t directly injuring others but their choices will indirectly injure others. They aren’t completely honest but generally honest. That’s what the Telestial laws are based upon. The second to lowest moral standard is based on getting one’s way (getting their will met). They act as though the world revolves around them because they are “a law unto themselves” (D&C 88:35). This is from which narcissism arises. When Brigham said that he is a dictator he was revealing that this was his moral standard because a dictator is only found with this moral standard or the lowest one. The ones with this moral standard are the ones that will be cast out so that they can be their own law in their own kingdom wherein there is no glory (IE outer darkness). The lowest moral standard consists of extreme narcissism coupled with a natural disdain toward others. Others can get some “redemption” if they are obedient to those of this moral standard, but at best they will only be accepted, never loved (and that is their definition for love: to accept one that is unworthy because they can get something from the unworthy one). This moral standard is the Satanic Moral Standard and those that are found with it will forever be in hell. After death it is possible to progress. Generally it can only be expected that the individual might be able to progress to the next higher moral standard. Those that believe that progression is not possible after death and before the resurrection may be thrilled to discover that they were wrong.

Our Lord gave us this life to be able to have eternal salvation. He never taught progression after death, nor did he teach different levels of glory. There is one God and one Heaven. Those who are faithful will go to the one heaven with our Lord. Mormons created more chances. They also created more earthly rules. God's world is not like the earthly world. You put it succinctly when you said, "they are living by their own laws rather than the Kingdom laws." Where and when did Jesus ever teach that we will progress after death? That is not a Godly teaching, only Joseph Smith. Peace!

@@windywithachanceofsunshine5219, let’s say that you’re right though the Bible DOES teach differently. What does it mean to be “faithful”? Does it mean to be obedient to the laws like the Pharisees were? That didn’t earn them accolades with God, so that isn’t it. Is it to do just a couple of works in uttering the “sinner’s prayer”? If so then that’s an unjust God because it would be like a judge that lets another off the hook because they are friends. Furthermore, it allows the unclean into heaven because such a person invariably continues sinning, thus sinners are permitted into heaven due to a corrupt God that only lets those in that did certain works. In other words, salvation is by a few works rather than a lot of works and violators are permitted into heaven. That’s an unclean and unholy place if that’s the case. Moses was given the instructions on building and the layout of the tabernacle because it is symbolic. It is symbolic at two different levels: it symbolizes our spiritual progression as well as heaven. Notice that in symbolizing heaven that there are 3 distinct regions: the Courtyard, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies. Each region had greater restrictions to the access, and so also is it in heaven. Your perception of heaven and hell would be to see it as the tabernacle as a whole is heaven, and outside the tabernacle is hell. That’s close but not totally correct because there are TWO defined places outside of the tabernacle: the waste places and then all other places. Did the Children of Israel live in the waste places? Of course not. Did they live in the tabernacle? Of course not. The area that they lived in was in between those extremes, and symbolizes outer darkness. The waste places symbolize hell. Did you forget about the creation? God go to a region of the universe where there was light then call for darkness? Of course not! He went to a region where there was darkness then called for light. That region of darkness was part of the Outer Darkness, and that’s where He began the creation of all that we know. There is still more of where there is that darkness! What is the easiest area of the tabernacle to get in to? It is the courtyard. In the courtyard there is an oil lamp that gives light 24/7. That symbolizes the Spirit. What does it take to enter the Holy Place of the tabernacle? The priest must perform certain sacrifices then do a ritual of washing and anointing. That ritual of washing and anointing is symbolized in the New Covenant by the Baptism and Baptism of Fire. Just as the priest cannot enter the Holy Place without that ordinance, neither does any follower of Christ enter that region of heaven without those ordinances. So let’s talk about the Baptism of Fire. That is the receiving of the Holy Ghost as Jesus did. Witnesses will see and hear it occur by seeing the apparition descend onto the recipient and hearing the Father speak, just as had happened with Jesus. So now the question is: did that happen to you? No, it did not. That is significant in many respects, one of which that symbolizes that the individual is no longer in the milk. And that’s significant because those that are in the milk are not given to understand doctrine: “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.” (Isaiah 28:9) What you are suggesting is that you understand doctrine though you are still in the milk. That’s unscriptural. And since you do not understand doctrine then you will naturally have misconceptions about it. Look to the Spirit for learning and understanding, not flesh as you have been doing, and you’ll get a correct understanding. If there is no progression between death and final judgment then nobody could enter heaven (as you define it) that hasn’t become like Jesus Christ in this life. If a person becomes like Jesus Christ in this life then they will receive everlasting life, which means that they will never die. Those that die have proven that they did not have everlasting life BECAUSE they died. So, according to your logic, all that die go to hell. You can be VERY grateful that you are not correct in that belief.

@@Sadliers First and foremost - All doctrine is clear and was explained during the time of Jesus. So there is nothing that is unclear or misinterpreted. Jesus himself told us to go to the church when there were questions.Jesus gave us everything we need for eternal salvation. He established His church on earth and anointed those who would lead. The faithful are those who have been baptized and follow God's commandments. And He was very clear what they were, and not just the ten. We were also told that he is the living bread of life - "Whoever eats my body and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him." This we do every day in the consecration of the eucharist. Jesus IS present. It is not a symbol. He did not say at the Last Supper, this is a symbol of my body and blood. When Jesus came, he fulfilled the prophecies. He also perfected his church. This means that he did away with the old ways and became the new way. The veil was torn, which represented that now, all are welcome in His church. The holy of holies and the temple were destroyed because we become temples ourselves. His church resides within us, not a building. The passover lamb was Jesus, himself. When we die, the faithful, those who are not completely clean or have some blemish will be made perfect in purgatory, which is purification by fire just like Isaiah foretold in scripture. Jesus references purgatory several times in the New Testament. Only the worthy will be perfected and go to heaven. We will be made clean by the blood of the lamb. (Revelation) At the final judgement, Jesus will send His faithful to heaven with him and the unworthy will be damned. There are no levels of heaven. There is no other "progression". Creation. Jesus, who is God, IS the light. He created everything. What He did do though was create a space for us. Therefore, out of the darkness he created planets, the heavens (sky, atmosphere and heaven itself), animals and man. The "outer darkness" as you call it is hell which will be for the damned. After the final judgement, God will destroy Satan and those damned. They will be annihilated, as foretold in Revelation. There will be no hell, only heaven. Peace!

@@windywithachanceofsunshine5219, if there is nothing unclear or misinterpreted then why isn’t the Holy Ghost being received as Jesus demonstrated to us that it would happen? That’s the first significant clue that something is amiss. Why do church leaders keep dying? Those that receive everlasting life do not die, neither physically nor spiritually (John 6:47-50, 8:51). How is it unclear that the church leaders do not have everlasting life, and because they don’t have it then they are ignorant on what it takes to achieve it?

@@Sadliers The Holy Ghost was sent and received just as Jesus told us. Jesus did not want to leave us alone. The Holy Spirit is alive in each and every one of us! And nothing IS amiss. The Holy Ghost descended upon His disciples and He told them to go out and preach the gospel. We are descendants and disciples ourselves. We too, have the Holy Spirit within us and go out and preach the gospel. Jesus never taught that we would not physically die. We WILL physically die, just as Jesus did and be resurrected, just as Jesus did. That was the whole point of God coming down in the form of a human, Jesus, to live among us and show us how to live and how we could live forever, spiritually. Our earthly bodies will be no more in heaven. As we are told in Revelation, we will be perfected and our bodies will be like those of the angels, which are spirit form. Church leaders were anointed by Jesus and instructed to pass on, by anointing successors, to carry on and lead the church. We have an unbroken line of successors to this day. This was God's plan and God does not fail! Peace!

Christians believe that Heaven is a place where people sit around on clouds? That’s a kindergartner understanding of Christianity. But that is sort of required in order to believe a half-baked theology like Mormonism. Carry on!
