This video needed to be shared with the world. I teach high school and it is rough, I barely have time to rest during the week because I mostly have to make my own materials, so, this is definitely not a vacation but a real job that I sometimes feel not equipped for but soldier on. Thank you! :) Looking forward to the next video.

Hey Letty, thank you once again for this informative video and I agree that you really do respond to our DMs shame. I'm so glad you made this video, you have no idea how frustrating it is to hear a person say that teaching is easy. As a professional and qualified teacher, it's an insult. In SA we teach more than 22 hours and sometimes we stand from morning till we go home. I think people think it's easy because any degree is allowed, kanti it's not a walk in the park bakithi. Speaking and explaining is no joke, kids are not the same, some are fast learners and you find slow learners. Different personalities and characters, you need to understand each and everyone of them. Make sure they pass at the end

This comment!!!!!!❤️ sis, I’m having a difficult time with 22 hours so I can’t imagine what you must be going through with more than that! Being a teacher is really difficult!

WOW! This was super informative and quite a big eye opener. People really expect it to be a walk in the park instead of an actual job that needs to be taken seriously. We appreciate you Letty 🥰🥰🥰

Great content as always Letty. My two cents might be late but I think many at times, some people see the rosey part that expats portray e.g the hiking, shopping etc and equate that to being daily lives without factoring the other side is it which includes the fatigue, the anxiety, the mental well being and mostly, being away from home…

I am so glad you made this video! So many people look down on English teachers, especially if they don't have teaching qualifications. They actually ask if it's a job job?? I MEAN what kind of job would it be? I was so stuck on Middle School over Elementary, but after watching this I'm glad I've said I'm flexible when asked about the grade I prefer. YOH YOU WORK A LOT! GEEZ! Ke stressed lol but I'm sure I'll manage with whatever is thrown my way. You've got such an important role you're playing in your students' lives. Keep pushing! Well Done.

Hello Letty! I just want to say that I really understand the sacrifices you have made. For me, it's the opposite. My parents moved to Korea when I started university. My mother was there attending my grandfather's funeral and I couldn't go because I was attending school. I moved to a super small rural town to teach so I spent a lot of holidays and birthdays alone too. All my friends live far away and it's such an isolating feeling. I would like to move there too so I can be closer to my grandma and appreciate the time I have left with her and also the time I spend with my family before they move back too. Thanks for putting all these videos out. They have helped my worries in thinking about moving there and I hope you keep posting when you can!

And with these middle, high and adults you can not make a mistake during class! And you can not mize questions coz those madafadas google ish!! Oh nooo hahahaa hopefully you weren't referring to my comment a few months ago from your Daegu vlog 😭! If you were, please do not get the wrong idea. I was curious about how or if you personally explore Korea because I saw there were some other KZbinrs who said they are able to leave at 1 p.m. instead of staying the entire school day that usually goes until 4:30 p.m.. I didn't know getting off early during workdays were possible with a teacher contract so I wanted to see if that was the case for your epik schedule. Also seeing that you're able to make travel vlogs I was surprised how much travelling you were able to do so I was wondering when you do or if it was even possible during weekdays. I assume now by this video that you only explore during holidays? Anyways, your content is helpful and real, of course a teaching job is tiring and sometimes you just want to go home and sleep hahaha #mood. It's also good to know you can only request vacation during school holidays, I didn't know that. You give very valuable information, so I just want to say thanks. You're right, going to Korea to teach is...going to Korea to TEACH not be on vacation. However, there are people who think like that so it's great you are telling it straight. Hope you weren't talking about my comment 😭😫

Hey Chantelle, I get so many messages that it’s difficult to keep track which message is from who. Thank goodness Korea has many long weekends so that I usually travel on those days. I also wasn’t prepared for the reality of teaching when I got here so I thought it’d be great to make people aware. Thank you so much for your comment 🌸

Really enjoyed your video - your last point was very motivating ^_^ But the points about creating all the lessons and everything seems a bit challenging. Making you can take us through the planning next time? I’m 28, going to be 29 in December but I just started studying for a degree but not in education, only because I want to come to work and stay in Korea. I’m planning to visit end of next year just so I can have the feels of how it is to be there and also to validate that I’m not making the wrong decision. I have two more years still to finish studying but such videos are motivating me to keep going and work towards this goal. Thanks for the video xxx😽

Many people have asked me to make a video about lesson planning so I’ll plan to make it. Coming here to visit first is a great idea. Hi Letty, your videos are so informative and I've been interested in the whole programme for a while now. You've cleared up quite a lot of misconceptions I and many others might have had. Quick question, when are the school vacation months? When does the academic year start and how is it broken up? If at all.
@LettyMapstheWorld Жыл бұрын
Hey Langa. Thanks for leaving a comment. The academic year starts in March (usually the first week of March) and ends the next year in January (usually the first week of January) There’s a summer break from mid-July to mid-August (one month) And there’s a winter break from January to March (that’s the longest break)

Hi Letty, how would answer the question "what are some Korean trends and how would you incorporate them into the classroom?"
@LettyMapstheWorld Жыл бұрын
Ooh that’s such a broad question hey. I don’t think I use any trends in my classroom. I think the way my lessons are structured, it doesn’t leave a lot to be creative like that. I do use Trending Kpop songs when we play games, especially the English parts…

Hey Letty, I really enjoyed this video. Very helpful and informative. Thank you so much. I would like to ask about the after school classes. Do you do them after your work hours or on weekends? Do you not have camps or anything like that in your school?
@LettyMapstheWorld2 жыл бұрын
I do them during the week. I have set hours that I must complete for the after school program and if I don’t complete those hours then I have to do the classes during holidays. I don’t have to do camps but if I don’t do all the hours then I still have to do them during the holidays. I hope I explained it well.
