I just did a huge unhaul too, I'm getting a baby and we don't have that much room, so I got rid of one bookshelf and had a lot just stacked on the floor because it already didn't fit and now I need all my books to fit on one and a half bookshelf (I also chose to store a box with books I don't need on my shelf, but I want my baby to read in the future :)) I got rid of a few hundred books 🤭

Since you do like Rick Riordan's writing style I highly recommend the Kane Chronicles, they're my favourite of his series and my all time favourite middle grade. (No nostalgia for me by the way, I was an adult when they came out!)

I love unhauls!! I think they’re great for a number of reasons too - more shelf space for books you are excited for, it clears the mind, eases any anxiety you may have re: clutter, plus giving them to others who are going to enjoy them more is satisfying 💜 loved this, Jade 😁

I felt the complete opposite. For a sci-fi based in genetics the genetics was wonky at best. I DNF'ed at page 30 because I couldn't get past it. It would take the entire series for me to feel satisfied with the explanations, probably, but in hindsight I don't think I would've gotten them to begin with since the story focuses on other things.

@@racheltfisher I hope so too for you. I've been diving into biology for a long time and even if I'd been around the target demographic at the time I'd probably been bothered by it. I learned a bunch of that stuff around age 16. It was just not the book for me but the concept is amazing. Maybe if someone wrote an adult version without that cannibalism system (that didn't make any sense) I'd love or at least really like it

Thank you for posting this today. I was looking for new videos to watch and was about to give up and do something else, but then I saw this video. I'm glad you now have space for the new books. I haven't unhauled any of the books I just bought yet, but I'm sure that will come before the end of the year and I'm excited to see what I do unhaul. Should be a fun time! Have an amazing weekend!!

I really liked the audiobook for Black Sun. I don’t think it would have worked as well reading it physically, but I would suggest maybe trying out the audiobook if you are interested in knowing what happens

aah. This Mortal Coil. The book I DNF'ed around page 30 because the whole immunology component makes no sense. I didn't when I read it and studied biomed sciences and it wouldn't have when I had the target audience because I would've caught that issue back then as well. She got secondary school stuff 'wrong' as in how it functions in our reality but she heavily implies it works the same in her story. She does mention allergies. Since the book was her indulgence in genetics and immunology is heavily led by genetics (and the explanation to my satisfaction would take up the entire series I just got rid of it (it's still in my house but in an unhaul box. I never unhauled the books in that box because I have not decided where to bring them).
