Lord of the Rings is in the third age canonically on Earth. That is, it took place in an ancient Europe. Tolkien wasn’t set on what age we are currently in, but it has likely been several ages (many thousands of years) since Lord of the Rings.

My only exposure to Tolkien is via the Peter Jackson movies (and of course through them, the various video games that came after) and even then, I have a clarification I need to make. You’re wondering why the technology is so old school despite the year being listed as 2941. Well, Lord of the Rings is considered the last story (chronologically speaking) to come from the 3rd Age of Middle Earth and the turning point that gives rise to the 4th Age. We only know so much about what was intended such as Aragorn’s son succeeding him after he and his wife succumbed to old age, but this does clarify why the rest of the timeline, certainly the parts closer to a more modern day, have much less numbers in their years: they’re 4th if not later Age dates

What exactly leads you to believe the Middle-Earth saga occurs in the future? We know that it all happens on a planet called "Arda", which is supposedly VERY far away from Earth. The Lord of the Rings does happen in "3018", but this is year 3018 of the Third Age of Arda, which could happen at any point in out timeline. I guess one could suppose that Arda is a future version of Earth, but that would put the Middle-Earth games WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY into the future.

Lord of the Rings happens is the past. That's why we enter "The age of men" where all of the mythical beings begin to die away. Same with Star Wars, it's a long time ago in a galaxy far far away

Lol i laughed when you said how the timeline aged backwards, the time system is not based on the real life calendar im pretty sure and is like BBY and ABY in star wars, i'd assume its set the oldest of all of them probably in the middles ages, tolkien was inspred by mythology and a lot of stuff from historg somi would assume its pretty old hut the real time is unknown unless we research it but idk.

Honestly this undermines the point of LEGO Dimensions & LEGO Worlds. Those games confirmed that LEGO Games aren’t in the same timeline, as they’re in different Dimensions or different Worlds.

Uh actually 🤓☝️ in a Star Wars alternate timeline comic, Han and chewy in their prime during the original trilogy blindly jump into hyper space and get stuck in the forests of North America leading to Han being killed by native Americans and chewy going on his own and becoming know as the urban legend Bigfoot with Indiana jones finding the crash site 126 years later searching for Bigfoot so actually the Star Wars time line takes place in the late 1700’s

Uh, LEGO Dimensions is after the LEGO Batman Trilogy. At least on the DC side. On the LEGO Movie, it likely takes place between the original, and the spin offs. Lego Lord of the Rings is now altered thanks to Dimensions, I mean LEGO Dimensions is not canon to the Lord of the Rings movies. The rest are either canon like the Sonic & Portal level packs, or just not canon to those franchises like with Ninjago or Jurassic World.

Considering how many of the other big names in sci-fi at the time were focused on and/or around a pseudo modern setting, the point of that was to establish up front that the setting wouldn’t be anywhere they could actually go (yes you could find the actual filming locations of Tatooine in Tunisia, but it’s not actually Tatooine), so it could be as long ago as the era of the dinosaurs or as recent as say 30-70 years before the respective movie launches

I said in the video that because there was a frozen Han in one of the Crystal Skull levels in Indy 2 then Empire was probably in the same year as Crystal Skull (being 1957) and since Empire is in 3ABY subtract 3 from 1957 to get the New Hope date (0BBY/1954) and so on and so forth with the other Star Wars Movies
