That is one of the most fabulous dance numbers I've ever seen in movies. I went back several times in the 60s to see the film just for Peter Gennaro's dances, esp. this one. Grover Dale, Gus Trikonis, Debbie Reynolds -- zowie!

What a delightful and well-composed musical. They are simply not made like this anymore. Debbie Reynolds was such a talented performer. She will be missed. Perhaps movies like, "La, "La, Land" will bring these back.

I love how the duchess goes along with it in her own less chaotic way but it literally is her going nuts considering her status 😂

So sad about Debbie. I grew up watching this movie and this was my favorite song.
@jicarillagurl7 жыл бұрын
belamiboi1276 Agreed! I raised my 18-year-old daughter on musicals and as many classic movies as I could. Some of our favorites are (OBVIOUSLY) "The Unsinkable Molly Brown; Singin' in the Rain; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers; Gone with the Wind; Oklahoma!, and Paint Your Wagon to name but a few. This scene, the Good Morning scene from "Singin' in the Rain," and the barn raising scene in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" are some of our most favorites.

Besides Judy Garland, the Academy got it wrong again with Debbi Reynolds not getting the Oscar for this classic. Hollyweird will never have stars like them again!

Why are the movies with Debbie Reynolds so hard to get? No one has this one, My six loves or the singing nun.. Not even Amazon. She is one of my favorites. Can someone tell if and where I can get these three movies?

only a small number of songs from the original Broadway show made it into the movie. this show stopping number definitely makes up for the songs that were cut
@rossinilove8 жыл бұрын
MGM wanted to cut this number as a certain Dr. Z was using up the budget. Debbie insisted it be filmed, apparently in one afternoon to save money.

I understand that they finished it in the later evening. By the time they were done filming it they were all exhausted but that was what it took to get it right!
