The Galar fossils are abominations of alchemy, and Cara Less is not even remotely official, so they're the only dex entries undisputably false. back during gen 4 my school's playground theory on why some pokemon trade evolve the way that they do is because they feel extreme amounts of stress from you leaving them and they undergo their transformation to become stronger to either: A) make them more desirable to take you back. The Pokemon Zukan book you reference at the beginning of the video actually explains that the "boy turned into a Kadabra" entry is from an in-universe book, the Pokemon world version of Kafka's Metamorphosis. maybe we'd find something if we gave the first Mystery Dungeon a replay! the depicted dichotomy here of Alakazam vs Gengar exists there, Alakazam being the leader of a heroic team and Gengar being the leader of an evil team, and also having used to be a human i used to think that Gastly evolved into a Haunter when a recently-passed, possibly evil human's spirit merged with a Gastly, but this is also pretty convincing..

Considering that the Mystery Dungeon games take place in the past, it's possible if not even probable that some of the stories told in the times of Mystery Dungeon gets passed on and eventually appears in some Pokédex entries, albeit in a twisted and distorted form, because history fades to legend and then to myth, and along the way, some details got changed, replaced, or outright added or removed, resulting in an inaccurate but recognizable telling of a real story.

I treat the Kadabra story as just that - a story, an old wives’ tale. It didn’t actually happen. In the case of Haunter, I think it’s the soul of a dead human that was reborn as a Pokémon, combining with naturally-occurring poisonous gases. I wonder if trade evolutions happen due to the stress of trading, for the ones with no additional requirements. Either the physical trading process, or the idea of leaving the current trainer.

Interesting thought, which leads me to speculate that they might be a smaller scale “mega” evolution to some extent. On average, they all seem to cause a drastic change in their appearance more so than standard evolutions. Similar to the megastones, these items could have an excesses reservoir of life energy causing the sudden evolution upon trade.

Translating an official Japan only book about the gen 1 pokedex confirmed that the full version of Kadabra pokedex entry is actually about an in universe piece of fiction based on an IRL book about a man who woke up as a giant insect. It also had some other stuff that the early anime referenced which suggests they had access to it. The idea of trading exchanging some traits is pretty interesting though, especially since the ones who evolve with an item seem to have that item become part of them. It could also be something like a more lowkey, permanent version of how mega evolution works and the power involved in the trading process permanently alters the pokemon without necessarily needing to interact with a specific pokemon.

The fossil record is missing a Psychic type ape fossil Pokemon that learns Fighting, Normal and Fire type moves. This being the evolutionary nexus of people and Pokemon. With humans and ape Pokemon branching from this. It's the only way to explain why some people have Psychic abilities and why there are Psychic type Pokemon, while also explaining the various Monkey Pokemon that are a mix of Normal/Fighting/Fire/Psychic. I suppose the closest relative to this unknown fossil ape Pokemon is Oranguru, it has human level intelligence and above, making it a primary point of research.

Humans don't lay eggs, meaning they can't have any relation to pokemon. You'd either need to find human fossils some 30 million years back to when the first pokemon traits were emerging (we know when Evolutionary stages first emerged, but we don't know when the propensity to lay eggs came about) or you'd need to find at least one instance of a pokemon that doesn't lay eggs, OR you'd need to find an instance of humans actually laying eggs alongside the sex+pregnancy that have already been shown in the anime. Remember that researchers can't even tell where the eggs come from, and "The pokemon just found it laying around" is an actual theory that scientists in the show haven't been able to disprove, directly competing with an opposed, unconfirmed hypothesis that the eggs come from the pokemon. This is alongside other oddities such as the fact those eggs can hear what you're saying, understand human speech with alarming capacity, and can actively choose to not hatch out of spite if the egg doesn't like what you're saying to it. Upon hatching they are immediately able to talk and have full understanding of what both humans and other pokemon are saying to it. Humans meanwhile, grow up in slow, gradual increments over the course of years and aren't able to really talk until three years old. An actual pokemon can make it to a champion level battler and casually destroy mountains by that time, as shown by Ash's donphan who competed with champions while less than a year old. Your best bets on this are the two ... exactly two ... pokemon who might, MIGHT, give live birth instead of laying eggs, unless the ideas for such were openly retconned. First one is mew who was said to give live birth to baby mews in the original japanese text for the original red/blue games. This was changed for squick related reasons in every version since, and no other mention of how mew reproduces has come about. Except that it's decidedly not in any known egg group (just like all the other legendaries) and it is confirmed to reproduce, to have a species population, and serve as the origin of all pokemon life. Every pokemon can trace it's ancestry back to mew, but we have no idea if the same applies to humans or not, let alone when that might have happened or why humans are so VASTLY divergent in every possible way. It's very plausible that Mew do not lay eggs at all, their egg group being undiscovered because it simply doesn't produce eggs, and it's likewise plausible that Mew grow up in incremental stages the way all earth life forms do. As shown by how Mewtwo doesn't have Evolutionary stages. It starts as a baby and then gradually gets larger until reaching an adult size. The second bet would be Lugia. The pokemon originally designed as the designated middle point between pokemon and humanity. That was it's intended purpose and the reason it looks the way it does, and the guy who made it was so pissed about Lugia getting a male voice actor for it's movie that he spent time on his deathbed ranting about it. Lugia are known to be a species with a population that do reproduce, they have young baby Lugias that then grow up gradually in incremental stages over the course of years. Also being in an undiscovered egg group, it is entirely plausible that they don't lay eggs at all either and instead give live birth like an actual mammal. The fact Lugia is expressly stated to be closer to humans than any other pokemon, it's narrative and Mythical purpose is to serve as the bridge connecting these two sides, could in fact be literal with humans coming from Lugia through some method. Evolutionary or otherwise. Getting actual data on how and why is going to be the harder part. Orangaru is completely rules out by the simple fact it's not even a mammal. Birds and Bats both have wings, but morphological taxonification is the single stupidest method one could possibly use to try and discover the origin of species. Just because the bible is dumb enough to claim bats and birds are the same thing doesn't mean you should follow in their logic. Orangaru lay eggs, while humans give live birth, there is no possible connection between them without going much further back.

If the formerly human Kadabra/Gengar thing only referred to one specific exceptional Kadabra, things could get really sad. The boy was a lab assistant, and after he got turned into a Kadabra, he was traded in a trade-back trade because Alakazam's greater intelligence would make it easier to live as one. This one done with the consent of him and his parents. Someone at the research facility had a Haunter they'd like to evolve, but after the trade back, it was found that the Alakazam didn't have the boy's mind in it anymore. The Gengar did, but it had become warped because of the influence of the Gengar.

An interesting one tor the Abra line and the Ghastly line that isn't mentioned much goes along with their types. While both psychic and ghost types were very rare and powerful in gen 1, their full typings of psychic and ghost/poison has a link in that, when type advantages are calculated properly (which they weren't in gen 1), they beat each other. Ghost beats psychic which, in turn, beats poison. Its like the starter triangle in a way that only works with two Pokemon. Also, regarding trade evolutions, there's a video by DYKG about a lost Pokedex released in Japan. I can't find the source they referenced for it (they have a link in the description to helixchamber, but the specific post linked is about lost cards from the TCG and I can't find any mention of this Pokedex anywhere on it), but they claim to have bought and translated a copy of it. Point is, I can't check and verify what they said at all. But the book is written by early researchers of Pokemon and, when talking about Golem and Machamp, it mentions that they are believed to be the evolutions of Graveller and Machoke, but nobody has witnessed their evolution, and while most Pokemon evolve by growing, its evident they do not. As they say in the video, the information given is intended to be accurate research as of that point, but despite being accurate, there are things the researchers don't know yet. Point is, in the Pokemon world, while trade evolutions had been studied in the wild (or at least Golem and Machamp, didn't fully rewatch the video but a quick skim doesn't show Alakazam or Gengar), how they evolve was unknown to the point where they couldn't even guarantee what they evolved from. Considering Bill invented the Pokemon Transporter, this would suggest that it is somehow possible without trade evolutions, but the method is unknown, and the trade machine simply accomplishes the same goal. Personally, I always saw it as being related to infinity energy (or Pokemon energy before they canonized infinity energy). As a Pokemon gained levels, the amount of energy inside of them would increase until they could evolve. Items give certain kinds of energy, similar to how this energy affects types for Pokemon and their attacks (thus the difference between biting something and the move Bite, or between water and water type moves), and thus letting Pokemon that couldn't get enough of that energy normally get enough with the help of an item. In turn, trading would bring with it an extreme amount of this energy, more than a Pokemon could typically get otherwise, letting some Pokemon evolve by trading, with trade items effectively acting like a lens, converting this energy into a specific kind as needed for the evolution. But, of course, that's just how I personally saw things. The idea of trading mixing DNA does also make sense given how we meet Bill and the similarities of some trade evolutions. Of course there is still the problem of how it works for newer trade evolutions that don't require held items or specific Pokemon, like Gigalith. Being introduced in the same region as Escavalier and Accelgor, the idea of software limitations goes out the window, not to mention being harder to find another trade evolution they share a connection with.

the gen 1 trade evolutions dont need to be traded like karablast and Shelmet are traded for evolution, they just need to be traded regardless what the other pokemon is. although speaking of gengar previously being a human, the gengar in PMD used to be the human that screwed over gardevoir.

I believe that karrablast steals shelmet's armour, as Shelmet is a species that karrablast preys on, so it tries to eat the Shelmet. But then the trade makes them transfer so fast that karrablast couldn't eat it, then using the armour to become escavalier, and Shelmet without it's armour must become accelgor to survive. But that's just what i think

Yeah I don’t think they gave a lot of thought to some of the old entries. Something canon to remember is that Sinnoh lore explains that Pokémon and humans were once indistinguishable. So humans came from Pokémon and humans can also become Pokémon. The core concept of life within Pokémon as a series is that all life is connected and constantly changing.

Here is the thing, Pokedex are things that don't cite sources very well. They don't always say what is legend, rumor, fact, story or misunderstanding. For instance, Cubone's entry about it's mom might be more of a legend than fact... Cubone are BORN with the skulls after all.

However, Ninetales' entry about its millennium long curse is very real... in the Ninetales legend, which is a very real event by the way, a trainer encountered a Ninetales and grabbed one of its tails, so the Ninetales cursed the trainer but his Gardevoir took the curse instead and the trainer fled the scene, so the Ninetales told the Gardevoir that the trainer will one day return as a Pokémon, and sure enough, a millennium later, the trainer returned as a Gengar.

I have no idea what you're talking about Toby. Ghost was literally the worst type in Gen 1. It was only super effective against itself, completely lost to psychic, and its only moves were Lick and Night Shade. Even bug was better than that.

i think that humans in the pokemon world are part pokemon and either by accident or with a special training they can use the power of the pokemon dna within them. like for example the "aura guardians" Sir Aaron, Riley and even Ash, maybe they can sense the feelings of pokemon as well as the aura that Riolu and Lucario send out, because they are part Riolu or Lucario as well. and maybe that kid that turned into kadabra was part abra and for some reason his psychic power level increased so much his human body cant handle it while its get close to the condition of abra evolving into kadabra. so his body decided to activate his pokemon dna part and he evolved into kadabra

You basically turn into Kadabra (or Abra if you're lazy yet nerd) when you gather veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy much Pokemon knowledge and then gets Teleported into Pokemon World. When you get into trading machine you come to know last thing you need to know about Pokemon AKA what's in a trading machine. After coming to know this you get 5000 pokemon IQ and evolve into Alakazam.

If Red and Blue wrote the pokedex, then I would question the viability of it. Either they made it all up on the spot, or they gathered it from rumors about the pokemon from the people they meet, like how the Brothers Grimm gathered their fairytales. I think it would be a fun game actually compiling the pokedex like that.
