The Denver Nuggets are playing the most beautiful & innovative offense in the NBA. Thanks to their Point Center Nikola Jokic they can run a 5 Out Motion System. The most important concept is to pull Jokic out of the paint (top of the key & pinch post) in order to open room for the other player that are moving off the ball and off the screens.
It’s a never standing offense, they can use Handoffs, DHO, Ballscreens, Flare Screen & Backscreen to exploit the outstanding Jokic passing ability.

KCP's movement without the ball had him shooting 44.4% for 3-pointers, including 3.0 made per game off 6.8 attempts against the Lakers. Jamaal Murray's Pass & Relocate tore the Lakers apart, but they don't want to expose Austin Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt's poor perimeter defense so make Anthony Davis the SCAPEGOAT.

A lot of passers, including a few centers (Walton, Wilt), have been pinpoint passers, but I’ve never seen a center pass THIS pinpoint. It’s really amazing. Luka and Chris Paul do this too, but they’re guards!

Seeing Jokic play reminds me of Arvydas Sabonis back in his prime. They are a lot in common passing shooting the way they attack the paint almost similar.

@@cain948 Yes, Sabonis was one hell of a passer. (I wish he’d played in NBA earlier, but that’s old news.) His son ain’t too shabby either!

@@basketballdevelopmentlab You guys are really killing it with these breakdowns. Seeing the text on the screen allows us to really watch all the players and what their role is during a particular play(I'm always pausing the vid to make sure I caught everything)....so solid and I love it.

I don't know how old you are but this is no New concept. This is the style of basketball that was played from the 1950s on really and was invented in the 1940s. The athletes are much better nowbut the understanding of the game in the NBA has gotten worse and the foreigners have been playing this style all along.

that's why im not surprised murray is popping off, all those open shots jokic gave him, good thing he delivered and everyone also delivered, that's like a basic 2 man play but jokic is just too effective that it made everyone get their opportunity, the leader, the reason why i don't know why embiid got that award, embiid is not even the most important player in that team, harden is the leader. 🤦‍♀

I already get tired watching the players scrambling on defense. Jokic is really that type of player where you can't do sh#t coz there's levels to his game. He always has something different to offer if a part of his game is compromised. Great to see the Nuggets building and playing around him.

Bogut was a very good passer but not in Nikola's league. But Warriors run a great motion offense as well and Bogut fit in. Big difference is Nikola is a shooter and scorer and Andrew could not shoot -- makes Jokic even more dangerous as a passer. Pick your poison. Bogut is Australian but his family was from the Balkans, another great player originating from the former Yugoslavia.

Lakers 6'8 defensive specialist Jarred Vanderbilt basically useless on defense because 6'11 Center Nikola Jokic is the #1 on the ball decision-maker. Nobody for Vanderbilt to play 1-on-1 pressure defense against because of Jamaal Murray's movement without the ball. Lakers need a double-digit scoring Small Forward to at least put more pressure on the defense of Michael Porter Jr.

just a question: Not being a smart aleck just want to know. Alot of times on the videos,when the play starts there is at least 1 player inside or just below the 3 point line, other times shown at least 2 players are in, while the rest are outside, why is it still call 5 out motion offense?

But is it 5 out? Pretty often all 5 are inside the arc, but proper spacing and active movement are more the key I think.
@fightsports66
@fightsports66 Жыл бұрын
5 out is not really defined by the arc because 5 out existed before the invention of the 3 point shot.

I love this, love Jokic. But this is kinda not that innovative, as we’ve seen this before in 2014 with the Spurs. But yeah, close to unstoppable, especially when they are sinking their 3s.
