I've been wanting to make a XueXiao video for more than 3 weeks, and finally found the perfect song.
Warning : it's toxic, unhealthy, it hurts, but it is FICTIONAL. I am fascinated by the complexity of their relationship. I wish Xue Yang would have redeemed himself but it's not always possible and maybe, this is why they are both so interesting to me... He's full of regrets for what happened, and yes it touches something in me.

Xue Yang wasn't the bad guy, all he needs was LOVE. No one taught him that feeling, not until Xiao Xingchen came into his life. Xue Yang tried to keep his cool but he lost it when he realized that xingchen was no longer living. Now that he's gone, xue yang doesn't know the reason to live anymore. But he didn't gave up and chase the brown pouch from wei ying so atleast xingchen will be alive again or a fierce corpes?. But again, he didn't successed. So he has no choice but to give up now.

That's not how psychopaths work. He wanted XXC because XXC was his chewtoy, someone to torment and torture. Without XXC, XY didn't have as many ways to filter reality, which is one reason he desperately wanted XXC back. Without someone to mock and taunt, he didn't have an external focus to keep him moving.

Girl... You nailed it! Not only that, but you perfectly got the character of Xue Yang! Everything Xue Yang did was out of trauma. He was constantly giving Xiao Xinchen little bits of his early history. Unfortunately we're not told when his parents died or how young the history of abuse started. However it is my humble opinion that to have this level of human detachment, it, more than likely, happened in the very early stages of development (See Eric Erikson's stages of psychosocial development). As he grew up and he continues to experience abuse from society, to the point of having his body integrity compromised at the age of 7, he became unable to form relationships with any other person. He didn't love Xiao Xinchen like "normal" people love each other, as he stated the day he was finally killed. If we our memories of the event that day are reliable, we remember what he stated when ask why he begged to have Wei Wuxien restore Xiao Xinchen's spiritual cognition. He wanted Xiao Xinchen's life to be miserable because he knew what he had done. He knew that the excuse of being blind wouldn't stick the same way the "excuse of being abused as a child doesn't exonerated Xue Yang's from the crimes he committed. When we, the viewers, we clearly see Xue Yang's last memories of his interaction with Xiao Xinchen that ended up with Xiao Xinchen realizing his responsibility in murdering his best friend. We clearly hear Xue Yang stating that he would not be killing Xiao Xinchen. Xue Yang wanted to make him live with the understanding that at the end of the day Xiao Xinchen was not this holy person that everyone thought he was. He didn't have the morals to judge Xue Yang nor anyone else for that matter. So, if my theory is right, why then Xue Yang loses control? The answer is simple. Knowing who Xue Yang was or not, Xiao Xinchen develops a stable relationship with Xue Yang. Xiao Xinchen is able to give Xue Yang the affection he has been craving more than his candy... Xiao Xinchen's acts of kindness and his protection showed Xue Yang that at least one person did care about him. He was ok with knowing that he built this relationship with Xiao Xinchen based on lies but as long as Xiao Xinchen was "unaware" of it he was ok because he was using him to feel like a person. When he realized Xiao Xinchen discovered the truth, he lost the only opportunity to have a relationship. To feel loved and cared for, to have someone to talk to... Reviving Xiao Xinchen's spiritual cognition became the last chance for Xue Yang to try to restore that relationship with Xiao Xinchen. When this chance is taken away from him, there is no reason to continue living. He experienced love and he liked it. He was not going back to being treated like an abomination again. So he is ok with being killed. So... In reality, Xue Yang was not a ruthless murderer or a delinquent scum of the earth. He was only a traumatized man who developed a sociopathy caused by a psychological condition that is known as Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). Since this is a fictional movie, I wish I could have been a character brought from the future with my former boss, who has a master degree in counseling to provide them with a treatment plan. Xue Yang would have to be in therapy for the rest of his life but if I can do something to help him... I would do it in a second without thinking twice.

honestly part of me is bitter that xy couldn't get a redemption arc with xxc. but I know it wouldve been 100% out of character, and wouldn't match the story. it just makes me sad because xy definitely cared for xxc, he just didn't know how to to express it in a positive way. I'm sure he thought that if he pulled xxc down to his "level", to make them even/equal, that they could be together/that xxc wouldnt be able to leave or hate him. and xy has no experience with love or affection, either, so I'm sure it was all really hard on him. And then sl shows up and xxc was probably a.) scared as all hell that he would have to watch xxc leave with sl or be killed by both of them and b.) probably jealous because sl is xxc's closest friend. it's all just. :(

I've read somewhere that the author originally intended XY and XXC as part of a different story. I think if they had gotten their own novel there would have been plenty of possibilities for redemption and change, but within MDZS that would not have fitted all too well (sadly)

Xue Yang is my favourite character... I don't care what people say about him because this is such a beautiful edit.. A child who was brought up without knowing what love, kindness and compassion is, who was alone all his life only to die alone... Xingchen was the only person who brought kindness to a broken man...gave Xue Yang a sweet life, even though sort lived, to his bitter one... Xingchen was the first person to give Xue Yang what it means to love again. What this edit did was show me that much like his name means Ocean, Xue Yang is dangerous, unpredictable and destroys but he can also be calm, at peace with himself and be beautiful all at once... Xue Yang was the most misunderstood (besides Wei Ying) character in the untamed. XY never knew what love was and he didn’t know what affection felt like so when XXC came along and cared for him he didn’t know how to handle it. Yeah XY did shitty things and hurt a lot of people but maybe if he grew up being shown that love and care then maybe he would have had a different approach to life. When XXC died you could see it in XY eyes that he was hurting. XXCs death impacted XY and when he was gone XY felt alone and didn’t know how to deal with that. I can honestly say that it was so hard for me to hate XY because I have a soft spot for him and Ik he’s just misunderstood. Honestly the whole yi city arc scene will always kill me

He did absolutely nothing wrong but he still lost his soul. Not just his life but also the meaning of his life.
