@Rusty Shackleford While the car was stopped, Oakley shot Barrow in the head. Clyde's foot fell off the clutch and the car slowly moved forward. Great movie! Better than most theatrical releases I've seen in the past year. I like how Bonnie & Clyde were barely shown in the movie and they were referenced as the true murderers that they were. Stellar cast and a great period accurate production. More movies like this please!

That was a great move on the part of the film makers. It was mentioned several times how lawmen would hesitate based on how young and innocent they looked only to be murdered. More than once you had it stated or shown how young/small they were, most prominently when the rangers found their clothes. When you finally see their faces the audience has the same shock as all the lawmen they had killed before; "they are just kids." Great piece of film making.

True. They barely showed the pair outside of context. When the Warner Bros. movie premiered in the late-'60s my great grand mother and my maternal grandparents were firm in their criticism for how the film glorified the Depression-era bandits as it'd only been thirty-three years since they were hunted down.

Loved the depiction of the 30's, they got the look down great from the cars, storefronts and poor neighbourhoods, could tell they had very high production values and a load of extras to make everywhere look busy and real, with the performance of Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner being exceptional without being over dramatic. Definitely want more high quality movies like this from Netflix.

I haven't watched the movie, just saw these little short takes. But, they don't appear to be historically accurate. They took Henry Methvin out of the car in the scene with the motorcycle cops. They portray Frank Hammer as nice and morally righteous man not the sadistic "shoot and ask questions later" man he was. He killed way more people than Clyde Barrow as a judge, jury & executioner. Bonnie & Clyde weren't big time bank robbers. They robbed Piggly Wiggly grocery stores, gas stations and an occasional bank. Their largest haul was only a couple thousand dollars. They weren't nationally know until the bushwhacking by Frank Hammer & crew.

@@michaelhammond7980 Just after the Sweetwater ambush, one of the brothers leveled off at the running ambusher and Frank Hamer stopped him from shooting the retreating man. That was Frank Hamer. Not a executioner. The reason the false scene is in the movie is because that is what was known at the time. That Clyde and Bonnie gunned down two police officers and Bonnie shot the still breathing officer in the face and laughed about it. Later in history, we know that is probably not true.

You know, the worst part about the mayhem and slaughter perpetrated by Bonnie and Clyde was that they never were all that big of a deal. They really never made much more than eating money and getaway money. They weren't much more than two-bit spree killers romanticized by the press for just carrying on for an incredible length of time without getting caught . The Depression Era had as much to do with their infamy as anything else.

They were always short on money, they were always nursing injuries and most of the time all they did was split up, get to rendez vous point, plan a job which ALWAYS ended up in disappointment as there was less money than they thought (it was the depression after all), split, reunite, plan a robbery, not enough cash rinse and repeat.

@Racespec I watched an interview, with Costner and Harrelson, where Costner had suggested, that they had filmed at the actual site but I don't see how that's possible. In 1934, the ambush road would have been gravel and that's what the ambush scene depicts. The movie was filmed , in 2018, and, in the 2019 Google Maps view, the ambush road is now clearly paved with asphalt and the brush has been cut back to allow right of way clearance for the power poles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3u6gH-gmbCXfc0 At the 59 second mark, you get a real good look at the road. That road is gravel and the brush line is next to the road and no power poles. I would bet that that filming location is actually a service road inside of a timber growing tract of land.

That behavior is no different than today. The Boston Marathon Bomber had women sending him proposals in jail as did the Menendez brothers. There is an aspect of humanity which is attracted to young dangerous people, making them out to be stars. It is not right, but it happens. The issue gets even worse when some members of the media portray them as Robin Hood type criminals, stealing from the banks which were foreclosing on properties and giving to the poor. The movie did a great job of showing this repulsive attraction and then countering it. Ma telling the press that they had "killed a gas station attendant for $4", Hammer relating how they had executed lawmen leaving his family to go hungry and homeless to the gas station attendant who wouldn't talk. If you look back you will find this behavior throughout human history.

Very good movie. One of Costner's better performances. I loved the fact that the people acting in it did not look glamorous. They looked how they should have looked. Not like when Johnny Depp is cast as a criminal and it looks totally off. Generally the quality of Netlix's original movies is not that great, but this was as good as any theatrical film out there. When you watch you might catch references to three other Costner films.
