The Untold Story talks about Japanese American internment in Hawaiʻi, which is a topic that is not well known. Hawaiʻi JAs encountered selective internment, meaning only targeted American citizens were incarcerated (without due process). Some of the prisoners transferred to internment camps on the Continental US, while others ended up at Honouliuli. A story that was buried and forgotten is rediscovered and retold by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi.

Well done ... I am from Oregon, was 2 weeks old when we were incarcerated ... spend months with family on the islands ... didn't know this story. The message I will take ... racism is still alive and well in 2022, we who have felt it's ugliness need to get involved. Thanks.

Two students arrived in my eight grade class in the middle of the school year (1945-46). They were returning from the internment camp on the mainland and were cousins. During WWII, no one with Japanese blood was permitted to work at the Pearl Harbor Shipyard. My brother was already working at the shipyard and had 1/4 Japanese blood. He didn't admit that he had Japanese blood and his first and last name was Chinese, so he got away with it.

How did this not get the heart but the "Among Us" post did? On another note, I love hearing these stories. It's important that as a country we grow from our past mistakes in order to not repeat them again. I personally feel like we're leaning towards an era where cancel culture will have the power to be directed at people based on race and I don't want a repeat of what happened to the japanese people (and many others) during WWII in Hawaii, where any communication whatsoever was censored completely.
