I love your sources, some I wasn’t familiar with. My question is: with all we know about the olmecs mapping the universe, Mali kingdom under Islam and their knowledge of the planet and universe: why isn’t there evidence of them displaying their journey from Africa? I understand that it’s possible that the evidence was destroyed by Spanish explorers. If they could map the universe they could also simply point to where they came from. Maybe that clear evidence is yet to be rediscovered. Nice piece, good job.

Anyone finding some sort of secrecy around Olmec research? Like what exactly is there race, genetics and ethnicity? It's hard to find concrete research on this, I keep hearing they are like Australians or Papua New Guinea people. But we know how, they look like and those people aren't Central Asians or by the new research linked to a cave in China when it comes to Native American people! Any suggestions?

They dug up more recent remains of people who died at sites close to olmec statues and called them olmecs. Carbon dating is discordant between the remains and the statues. They know that as a matter of fact. Black people were present in the Americas before Columbus's arrival.

One of my biggest criticisms for a lack of constant substantial contact is the lack of any immunity to old world diseases. The major pandemics that killed over 90% of native people in the Americas, Smallpox and Influenza, absolutely existed in ancient Egypt. It took less than 15 years after Columbus' first voyage for Smallpox to arrive in the Caribbean, and another 13 to arrive in Mexico.

I have wondered about that. As we learn more we learn that people weren't as isolated from each other as we thought. I believe Vikings had more history as well but it's all but blotted out. They more than likely would have introduced smallpox too. I'm not sure about West Africa. I've only read about smallpox in Africans during slavery. I don't think it affected them as badly.

I've seen the Olmec heads. Both the Black face heads and the Asian faced heads. That land seemed to be a way point for sea travelers from the african continent and the Asian continent collecting at the narrow land mass between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific. My biggest talking point, and an area i have been researching for some time, is... if there was cross Atlantic, and cross Pacific travel, why don't we see the many crops developed by the people of the Americas in Africa and Europe before Columbus? No tobacco, Tainos smoked a lot of tobacco, but none goes over the Atlantic until Columbus' first trip back. No Maze, what is called corn today. Maze, like tobacco, was grown all over north and central America, and the Caribbean, but doesn't make it back over to Africa or Europe until after Columbus' first trip. Same for potatoes, tomatoes, batata - sweet potato, cocoa - chocolate, and amazingly, cocain. All these and many more unique crops cultivated in the Americas doesn't make it across the Atlantic with all of the transatlantic crossings until after Columbus. This is a huge hole in this study for me. And an impassable issue. Humans do not migrate and not take along seeds. Especially sacred plants, gifts of the gods, and not share them. Let alone the many crops just growing all about the major cities. Tobacco and corn being two that was so easily available and plentiful growing all over the Caribbean not getting to Africa and Europe is a huge impossibility. Food control is the most mojor control of all nations powers. There is something missing here.
