I have watched (and loved) Lily Tomlin ever since I saw her on Laugh-in. Her telephone operator always had me in stitches. "One ringy-dingy, two ringy-dingy... giggle, snort." In my opinion, she, as much as many of her contemporaries, deserves a special Oscar for lifetime achievement because of how much she has changed every venue she's ever appeared in. She will always be a guiding light to those who just want to be themselves and excel.

I was fortunate to watch Lily's performance with the All Nurse Band on SNL. I haven't found it since then. She sang a torch song draped on the piano. Gorgeous performance

Lily and the All-Nurse Band performed "St James Infirmary". I can't find any video clip of the number, but someone posted the audio on YT. Search for "Lily Tomlin SNL St James Infirmary". There might be a video clip of it on some SNL collection. It was in 1975, the first season.

I saw her on Broadway in The search for intelligent life in the universe when I was 20, no set or costumes just her, so funny she was brilliant, I went by myself as I was visiting friend’s in NY from Australia, so it was especially exciting for me having already been a fan of hers, but never thinking I would be able to see her live because Australia was a 25hr flight from Los Angeles then as we had to stop to refuel twice , Australia to New Zealand, then Hawaii then LA, on one trip back we even had to have an unscheduled stop in New Caledonia due to a head wind we needed more fuel to finish the last dash across the Pacific Ocean. Now you can do it direct. But I have loved her work ever since I first saw her in the 70’s.

Must have been so hard to hide her happiness because of prejudice. And yet through it all she never lost touch with what she does, who she is, and her creative genuis.

Have adored Lily since her Laugh-In days. Ernestine, Edith Ann, Susie Sorority and her various one-liners (dead-panned or the "excitable woman"!). Saw Search for Life while in development (in Philly) and she didn't need costumes or sets - she created them in your mind, with Wagner's writing & her stage presence. Heck, I even liked that silly movie with Midler "Big Business" - playing twins w/different personalities ain't easy! So much funny and mother wit over the decades. Brava!

Lily Tomlin's mother, Lillie Mae Tomlin, was from my hometown in Paducah, KY. Mother Tomlin was once made a Duchess of Paducah, Kentucky, and an honorary Kentucky Colonel in the 1980s. I've always, ALWAYS, loved anything Lily was in. Started watching her as a child when she was on Laugh-In (I still do "that's the truth, Pthbbpt"). And from small but endearing bit parts and walk-ons in The Player, NCIS and The X-Files to fabulous roles in All of Me, Grace and Frankie, 9 to 5 and the loveable Big Business...Not to mention her genius on kids shows...she's made a name for herself as a beautifully strong, independent woman. And I pray that her star is nowhere near its zenith. Shine on, Lady... shine on!

Regarding "Moment by Moment," I wrote a screenplay that Travolta wanted to do and gave to his managers, Lemonde-Zeter; they in turn gave my script to The Stigwood Organization who turned it down, choosing instead the disaster that became "Moment by Moment." There was no sexual chemistry between the two gay leads. No wonder this "love story" was a huge flop.
